It should not be used as a traditional revenge killer but rather as an offensive threat that happens to use Choice Scarf. Lycanroc-N should aim to spam Stone Edge as much as possible, as it's Lycanroc-N's strongest move, to deal with weakened or frail foes. When faced with checks such as Ferroseed and Gastrodon, be careful about locking Lycanroc-N into a weak coverage move or Toxic. Like most Choiced Pokemon, it can be an extreme momentum drain and give the opponent ample opportunity to either set up or chip the incoming teammate. Team Options Lycanroc-N will most often see use on more offensive teams as a soft check to Fire- and Normal-types. Victreebel is able to check Grass- and Fighting-types such as Lurantis and Gurdurr for Lycanroc-N, as well as specific Water-types like Jellicent. Lycanroc-N in return soft checks Pokemon like Skuntank for Victreebel. As Lycanroc-N is not an effective revenge killer for boosted sweepers, a secondary Choice Scarf user or a strong priority user is recommended. Choice Scarf Dodrio is notable for soft checking Fighting-types such as Gurdurr and Hitmonchan for Lycanroc-N, outspeeding Choice Scarf Primeape, and acting as an emergency check to Shell Smash Omastar. Lycanroc-N in return helps deal with scary foes to Dodrio like Lycanroc. Gurdurr and Hitmonchan are good partners for Lycanroc-N as Gurdurr absorbs status, such as Toxic and Will-O-Wisp, and Hitmonchan can spin entry hazards away to ensure that Lycanroc-N isn't constantly chipped whenever it switches in, while Lycanroc-N threatens certain Ghost-types like Oricorio-G and helps chip away at many physically bulky Pokemon. Strong Fire-types like Combusken appreciate fast Water-types like Swanna and Floatzel being lured in by Lycanroc-N, and also absorb Will-O-Wisp from Pokemon such as Rotom-F.
