Like most Choiced Pokemon, it can be an extreme momentum drain and give the opponent ample opportunity to either set up or chip the incoming teammate. Team Options Lycanroc-N will most often see use on more offensive teams as a soft check to Fire- and Normal-types. Victreebel is able to check Grass- and Fighting-types such as Lurantis and Gurdurr for Lycanroc-N, as well as specific Water-types like Jellicent. Lycanroc-N in return soft checks Pokemon like Skuntank for Victreebel. As Lycanroc-N is not an effective revenge killer for boosted sweepers, a secondary Choice Scarf user or a strong priority user is recommended. Choice Scarf Dodrio is notable for soft checking Fighting-types such as Gurdurr and Hitmonchan for Lycanroc-N, outspeeding Choice Scarf Primeape, and acting as an emergency check to Shell Smash Omastar. Lycanroc-N in return helps deal with scary foes to Dodrio like Lycanroc. Gurdurr and Hitmonchan are good partners for Lycanroc-N as Gurdurr absorbs status, such as Toxic and Will-O-Wisp, and Hitmonchan can spin entry hazards away to ensure that Lycanroc-N isn't constantly chipped whenever it switches in, while Lycanroc-N threatens certain Ghost-types like Oricorio-G and helps chip away at many physically bulky Pokemon. Strong Fire-types like Combusken appreciate fast Water-types like Swanna and Floatzel being lured in by Lycanroc-N, and also absorb Will-O-Wisp from Pokemon such as Rotom-F.
