Sucker Punch allows it to win against Custap Berry users like Urshifu-S and Skeledirge, as well as Liechi Berry Sneasler. The EV spread lets Galarian Moltres survive Modest Choice Specs Porygon-Z Hyper Beam as well as Choice Band Haxorus Outrage. In return, it checks Great Tusk answers like Ogerpon-W and Serperior. Steel-types like Iron Crown and Metagross are also good partners for Galarian Moltres, backing its Fairy weakness and checking foes such as Sylveon and Alolan Ninetales. In exchange, Galarian Moltres checks threats to these Steel-types such as Spectrier and Volcarona.

Galarian Moltres utilizes its great bulk, typing, and movepool to become a great offensive support Pokemon that can also beat the powerful Calyrex formes. Fiery Wrath provides a consistent spread STAB option paired with its chance to flinch, complimenting Galarian Moltres's bulk as a great tool to rack up damage. Foul Play on the other hand is a great anti-physical attacker tool, giving Galarian Moltres a fairly good matchup into Calyrex-I. Tailwind gives Galarian Moltres a supportive role in providing speed control for its team, allowing it to outspeed and fire off Fiery Wraths and Foul Plays. Black Glasses helps boost Galarian Moltres's damage output even more, allowing it to OHKO Calyrex-S and pairing well with potential Berserk boosts. The Speed investment allows Galarian Moltres to outspeed Choice Scarf Urshifu-R with Tailwind active, as well as naturally outspeeding most Gholdengo. The defensive investment allows Galarian Moltres to have a good chance of surviving a +2 Tera Fairy-boosted Draining Kiss from Calyrex-S or a Flare Blitz from non-Tera Fire Koraidon. Tera Dark sheds Galarian Moltres's Ice and Electric weaknesses, and the increased damage to its Dark-type STAB moves allow it to threaten an OHKO on Calyrex-I. Galarian Moltres typically struggles against Pokemon that can reliably win the damage trade versus it like Raging Bolt and Zamazenta-C. Amoonguss is able to comfortably tank Galarian Moltres's attacks and retaliate with Spore. Miraidon and Urshifu-R are also problematic matchups for Galarian Moltres, as Miraidon is able to outspeed and OHKO it, while Urshifu-R takes minimal damage from Galarian Moltres and can hit it in return with a Surging Strikes. While Zamazenta-C is is a great check against Galarian Moltres, it is also an amazing partner. Galarian Moltres gives it speed control and strong super effective damage against the Ghost-types Zamazenta-C would typically struggle against while Zamazenta-C grants Wide Guard support for Galarian Moltres, allowing it to effectively counter Calyrex-I. Fairy-types that would try to counter Galarian Moltres like Flutter Mane and Tera Fairy Calyrex-S are also covered by Zamazenta-C's Heavy Slam. Rillaboom is able to deal with opposing Urshifu-R trying to take advantage of their Dark resistance, as well as overriding Electric Terrain from Miraidon and threatening an OHKO with Choice Band-boosted High Horsepower.

Choice Specs Galarian Moltres is amazing at spreading damage across the opposing team, being able to heavily damage most Pokemon in the format. With Tera Dark's boost, Dark Pulse is a strong option against rain-centered teams, as it can bypass Pelipper's Wide Guard and 2HKO Archaludon. It is also strong and the most damaging option against Dondozo after Commander has been activated. Tera Blast Steel allows Galarian Moltres to threaten Fairy- and Ice-types such as Flutter Mane, Chien-Pao, and Articuno. Air Slash allows it to pick up OHKOs against common threats such as the Urshifu and Ogerpon formes. Snarl allows it to control damage when facing two opposing special attackers. Because of its ability Berserk, Galarian Moltres gets the most value out when its below half HP, so a bulky EV spread fits it very well. The given spread allows it to survive attacks such as Tera Stellar Sacred Sword from Chien-Pao when Galarian Moltres is Terastallized, Choice Band Close Combat from both Urshifu formes, and Sword of Ruin-boosted Mystic Water Surging Strikes from Urshifu-R. With its respectable bulk, access to Nasty Plot and Agility, and a great ability in Berserk to further bolster its offensive prowess, Galarian Moltres makes for an incredible wallbreaker and setup sweeper for Dark teams, threatening Fighting- and Bug-types like Scrafty and Volcarona. Hurricane OHKOes Fighting-types like Iron Valiant, Urshifu-R, and, when at +2, Assault Vest Gallade. It is also Galarian Moltres's strongest option for hitting Fairy-types, outright OHKOing Flutter Mane and Hatterene at +2 and OHKOing non-Assault Vest Primarina at +2 after minimal chip damage. Fiery Wrath is a more reliable STAB option, hitting Flying-resistant Pokemon like Heatran, Corviknight, and Zapdos. Agility allows Galarian Moltres to mitigate its low Speed, allowing it to outspeed would-be faster foes like Flutter Mane and Choice Scarf users like Iron Valiant. Ting-Lu provides entry hazard support and leverages its Electric immunity and Rock resistance to handle foes like Raging Bolt and Tyranitar. It can also break through special walls like Clodsire, Hisuian Goodra, and Alolan Muk. Grimmsnarl provides dual screens support for easier setup, potentially letting Galarian Moltres survive super effective moves like Iron Valiant's Moonblast and Iron Hands's Thunder Punch to activate both Berserk and its Weakness Policy. Grimmsnarl can also use Taunt to deny hazards from being set up and provide safe a switch in to Galarian Moltres using Parting Shot. Alolan Muk, with its Poison typing and excellent special bulk, can stave off Fairy-type attacks from foes like Choice Specs Flutter Mane and Choice Scarf Enamorus, threatening them back with Poison Jab. Bisharp serves an offensive answer to Fairy-, Ice-, and Rock-types, utilizing Sucker Punch to pick off Flutter Mane and Iron Boulder. Choice Band Meowscarada, Choice Specs Greninja, and Swords Dance Weavile can eliminate bulky Ground-types like Clodsire and Ting-Lu. Meowscarada and Greninja can help alleviate the Rock matchup for Galarian Moltres, with Meowscarada also threatening Water-types like Primarina and Dondozo. Meowscarada, Hoopa-U, and Weavile eliminate special walls like Blissey and Hisuian Goodra; Hoopa-U and Greninja also assist in Fighting and Fairy matchups. Sableye, with the combination of Will-O-Wisp and Knock Off, can wither down foes like Iron Hands and Dragonite, making it easier for Galarian Moltres to set up and eliminate them. Mandibuzz serves as a Defogger and can provide safe entry to Galarian Moltres using U-turn. Choice Scarf Darkrai can use its superb Speed tier and coverage options to revenge kill opposing Choice Scarf users like Iron Boulder, Meowscarada, and Greninja.

Galarian Moltres is a powerful special attacker on Flying teams that keeps Ghost- and Psychic-type threats in check thanks to its access to Nasty Plot. Fiery Wrath serves as a way for it to deal damage and take down Ghost-types such as Dragapult and Gholdengo. Hurricane provides Galarian Moltres with a way to deal significant damage to foes like Zamazenta, Volcarona, and the Ogerpon formes, except Ogerpon-C. However, due to Hurricane's low accuracy, Substitute can be be used in place of it to protect Galarian Moltres from status conditions, such as Toxic from Toxapex and Clodsire. Agility lets Galarian Moltres outspeed threats like Latios and Gholdengo. Alternatively, Pain Split lets it recover and allows it to activate its Berserk ability to get multiple Special Attack boosts. Skarmory is a great partner for Galarian Moltres, as it is a physical wall that can switch into Rock- and Ice-type moves from foes such as Iron Boulder, Kleavor, and Weavile. Corviknight removes entry hazards using Defog in case Galarian Moltres's Heavy-Duty Boots get removed; specially defensive Corviknight provides Galarian Moltres a safe switch-in to Ice-types moves such as Ice Beam and Freeze-Dry from foes like Kyurem, Greninja, and Alolan Ninetales. Gliscor pairs well with Galarian Moltres, as it is immune to Electric-type moves, and it can switch into Knock Off to hinder any attempt to remove Galarian Moltres's Heavy-Duty Boots, provided that it's already poisoned. Additionally, Gliscor can switch into Rock-type attacks from foes like Iron Boulder and Hisuian Arcanine and hit them back with Earthquake. The Landorus formes form an offensive core with Galarian Moltres by removing threats like Empoleon and Gouging Fire. Enamorus revenge kills Rock-types that beat Galarian Moltres such as Tyranitar, Kleavor, and Hisuian Arcanine with Superpower and Earth Power, along with providing Healing Wish support. Articuno synergizes well with Galarian Moltres, as Articuno serves as a special wall and Galarian Moltres serves as a special attacker, forming a special core that exterminates foes like Greninja, Landorus, Clodsire, and Spectrier. Zapdos provides Galarian Moltres a safe switch-in to Electric-type attacks and can paralyze Pokemon that make contact with it due to Static. It also acts as a pivot thanks to Volt Switch, allowing Galarian Moltres to come in safely. Galarian Moltres is greatly assisted by Nasty Plot Tornadus-T due to its ability to remove Steel-type threats like Hisuian Goodra, Heatran, and Archaludon with Focus Blast. Assault Vest Tornadus-T can switch into attacks like Thunderbolt and Power Gem from foes like Iron Valiant, Flutter Mane, and Heatran and subsequently use U-turn to bring Galarian Moltres in safely. Dragonite forms an offensive core with Galarian Moltres, as Dragonite acts as a physical setup sweeper taking out foes like Alolan Muk, Corviknight, Clodsire, and Toxapex, while Galarian Moltres acts as a special setup sweeper taking out foes such as Dragapult and Latios. Dragonite finishes off enemies weakened by Galarian Moltres with Extreme Speed.

The speed investment allows Moltres-G to outspeed Max Speed Booster Energy Gouging Fire and Choice Scarf Landorus-T in Tailwind.

Galarian Moltres leverages Nasty Plot and Agility alongside a good STAB combination to become a fearsome setup sweeper that can break through special walls. Agility allows Galarian Moltres to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame, and 208 Speed EVs let it outspeed Pokemon with base Speed of 110 such as Ogerpon-W and Iron Moth at +1. Sitrus Berry synergizes extremely well with Berserk, providing recovery in the middle of a sweep and potentially allowing Berserk to activate twice. Meanwhile, Tera Steel greatly improves Galarian Moltres's defensive profile by turning its Fairy-, Ice-, and Rock-type weaknesses, such as attacks from Zacian-C and Kyurem-White, into resistances while also helping it withstand priority moves like Extreme Speed from Arceus. Galarian Moltres is essentially exclusive to hyper offense, fitting best on Aurora Veil and dual screens teams, where it can find more opportunities to set up safely. It relies on Gods that donate high Special Attack, such as Kyurem-White or Mewtwo, to enable it to sweep effectively. However, it can still struggle against the likes of Ho-Oh and Unaware Dondozo, so it can be used either as a late-game sweeper after these checks have been chipped or as a way to soften them for teammates such as Polteageist and Mewtwo. Additionally, as Galarian Moltres is vulnerable to Stealth Rock, it appreciates teammates that provide entry hazard control, such as Magic Bounce Hatterene, Rapid Spin Great Tusk, and Mortal Spin Glimmora.

Leveraging its excellent defensive profile and bulk, on top of its access to a multitude of boosting moves, Galarian Moltres makes for an excellent mid-to late-game cleaner on more offensive teams. It provides an important buffer against offensive threats such as Aegislash and Alakazam while also finding setup opportunities against a large portion of defensive staples, such as Slowbro and Mega Venusaur. Nasty Plot boosts Galarian Moltres's Special Attack to absurd levels, allowing it to reliably pressure specially defensive tanks such Hippowdon and Clefable. Agility allows Galarian Moltres to outspeed common revenge killers such as Mega Aerodactyl and Choice Scarf Enamorus after one round of setup while giving it the opportunity to clean up opposing teams late-game when its wallbreaking prowess with Nasty Plot isn't as necessary. Taunt, on the other hand, can be used to prevent status and healing from Pokemon such as Blissey and specially defensive Hippowdon, allowing Galarian Moltres to wear them down or use them as setup fodder. Hurricane, in conjunction with Flyinium Z, gives Galarian Moltres a powerful one-time nuke in Supersonic Skystrike that can break through neutral targets such as Blissey and Gastrodon, threatening to outright OHKO the latter at +2 while also offsetting Hurricane’s middling accuracy in the process. As Galarian Moltres can struggle to safely find setup opportunities against faster threats such as Mega Aerodactyl and Enamorus, it pairs best with offensive teammates that can also complement its wallbreaking prowess; late-game cleaners such as Swords Dance Aegislash and Booster Energy Iron Moth capitalize on Galarian Moltres's ability to weaken specific answers, such as Unaware Clefable and Skeledirge, respectively, allowing them to sweep opposing teams with greater ease late-game. The latter can also invite in and weaken Rock-types such as Tyranitar, which Galarian Moltres can struggle to break through otherwise. Galarian Moltres's Stealth Rock weakness and inability to run Heavy-Duty Boots necessitates strong anti-hazard options, leads such as Excadrill and Mew can all shut down common entry hazard setters, the former via Rapid Spin and the latter via Taunt.

With access to both Nasty Plot and Agility as well as a Special Attack-boosting ability in Berserk, Galarian Moltres is a great late-game sweeper for Dark teams. In addition, its part-Flying typing provides Dark teams with a great offensive option against Fighting and Bug teams, as well as a greatly appreciated neutrality to the aforementioned types. After one Nasty Plot boost, Galarian Moltres 2HKOes physically defensive Toxapex, physically defensive Ting-Lu, and Celesteela. After one Agility boost, it is able to outspeed would-be faster Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Iron Valiant, Regieleki, and +1 Volcarona, as well as Mega Swampert in rain. Because of this vulnerability, it appreciates hazard control from Mega Sableye's Magic Bounce, and Mega Sableye is also able to cripple opposing foes with Will-O-Wisp and Knock Off. Choice Band users such as Weavile, Roaring Moon, and Meowscarada can check walls Galarian Moltres struggles with like Dondozo and Clodsire. In return, Meowscarada and Weavile appreciate Galarian Moltres matching up well against Volcarona and Roaring Moon appreciates Galarian Moltres matching up well against Great Tusk. Lastly, Galarian Moltres can be paired with other sweepers such as Swords Dance Weavile and Dragon Dance Roaring Moon to soften each other's checks to enable each other to sweep. For example, Weavile is able to threaten Ting-Lu and Clodsire, while Galarian Moltres is able to handle Choice Scarf Gholdengo in return. When Galarian Moltres is not able to complete an outright sweep, it can set up for Choice Scarf users such as Meowscarada and Greninja to clean up.
