Tera Poison grants Arceus-Grass a resistance to Poison-type attacks from Pokemon like Sneasler and Arceus-Poison, along with removing its other weaknesses like to Ice- and Fire-type moves from Kyurem-W and Chi-Yu. Alternatively, Tera Fairy can be opted for, as its ability to block Dragon Tail from the likes of Dialga and Giratina removes some of the only defensive counterplay to Arceus-Grass that's not covered by Taunt. With strong base stats, Arceus can focus on using Swords Dance and Extreme Speed as a cleaner at the end of a game or as a wallbreaker in the middle of the game to set its teammates up for success. With Extreme Speed's priority, EVs in Speed are unnecessary, barring potential investment to outspeed some Pecharunt and Great Tusk, allowing Arceus to use them in HP to tank hits in situations where it needs to boost or use coverage. The fourth move of choice will depend on what Arceus's needs are and what its team can handle for it. Shadow Claw is used against foes like Air Balloon Pecharunt and Arceus-Ghost, Earthquake is used to hit Pokemon like Eternatus and Garganacl, and Flare Blitz can remove Steel-types like Skarmory and Corviknight. Terastallization, similarly, will depend on what Arceus is most worried about, with Tera Ground and Tera Fire preventing paralysis and burn, respectively, on non-Lum Berry variants alongside the potential STAB boost on coverage; Tera Ghost flipping the script on Pecharunt, Fighting-types, or IronPress users; and Tera Normal increasing the power of Extreme Speed. Arceus is a versatile god that is able to take any slot that a team needs it to take. With perfectly balanced stats, it cannot meet the astronomical highs that most gods can donate to a stat or two, it provides a respectable boost in offensive stats, above-average defensive boosts for HP receivers like Rotom-Wash, and defensive stats for teammates like Clodsire and Clefable that appreciate having high bulk on both sides. However, base 120 offensive stats are limiting, so receivers that do not desperately need a standout boost, such as Meowscarada or Hisuian Electrode, can take those slots. Arceus should not be placed in Speed, as it would waste the boost by mostly using Extreme Speed; however, it can be positioned in any other slot. Balance teams appreciate Arceus, as it can serve as a win condition for a team otherwise missing one while often appreciating consistent stat donations and revenge kills on wallbreakers like Kyogre and Lokix. Arceus appreciates teammates like Landorus and Rotom-Wash that can force out strong defensive options that don't mind Extreme Speed like Pecharunt, Skarmory, and Clodsire via super effective special attacks.

Arceus-Water is an excellent physical wall, capable of switching into powerful physical attackers such as Great Tusk, Hisuian Arcanine, and Entei. It has access to valuable utility moves like Will-O-Wisp, which can cripple strong physical threats such as Urshifu-R, and Calm Mind, which provides Arceus-Water a modest offensive presence, especially when it is using Judgment as its only damage-dealing move. Ice Beam provides crucial coverage against the likes of Eternatus, Zapdos, and Raging Bolt, which can otherwise check Arceus-Water. Although somewhat niche, it can also run other utility options such as Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave; however, if reflected by Magic Bounce users, these moves can result in significant momentum loss or heavily debilitate Arceus-Water by setting entry hazards on its side or paralyzing it. The Speed EVs allow Arceus-Water to outspeed Hearthflame Mask Great Tusk. Arceus-Water fits exceptionally well on bulky offense and balance archetypes. Pairing it with specially defensive partners like Magearna, Garganacl, Mandibuzz, and Ho-Oh helps form a robust defensive core capable of handling a large portion of the metagame. Arceus-Water dislikes switching into hazards, as multiple threats, such as Urshifu-R, can then 2HKO it as well as force it to use Recover more often. Therefore, hazard control from teammates such as Regieleki, Great Tusk, Mandibuzz, and Corviknight is crucial to maintain Arceus-Water's longevity. Electric-types like Raging Bolt and Zapdos are among the best checks to Arceus-Water, particularly if they avoid taking an Ice Beam on the switch or when it isn't using the move at all. Electric-resistant and Electric-immune Pokemon like Dragonite, Eternatus, Clodsire, and Hippowdon are excellent choices to cover that weakness. Bulk Up Arceus is a potent late-game setup sweeper and revenge killer that leverages Extreme Speed—the strongest priority move in the tier. Shadow Claw allows it to hit Calyrex-S, Tera Ghost Koraidon, and Giratina-O. Recover allows Arceus to set up on Pokemon such as other Arceus lacking Bulk Up, Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground, various defensive Arceus formes lacking Will-O-Wisp, and Koraidon after Terastallizing. Tera Fire gives Arceus a burn immunity, which lets it set up on Pokemon that would otherwise check it, such as support Arceus formes with Will-O-Wisp and non-Whirlwind Ho-Oh. It also grants a resistance to Koraidon's Flare Blitz and Calyrex-S's Grass Knot at the cost of Arceus's immunity to Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage. Arceus's Special Defense and HP EVs allow it to survive a +2 Tera Grass Calyrex-S Grass Knot or a +2 Tera Stellar Psychic from the same foe. Its Speed creeps it above fully invested, neutral-natured base 90 Pokemon such as Kyogre and Ho-Oh. Bulk Up Arceus applies offensive pressure on Pokemon such as Arceus-Fairy, Arceus-Water, and defensive Ho-Oh, forcing them to stay at high enough HP to successfully stop a sweep. Its longevity relative to regular Extreme Killer Arceus makes it much more prominent on bulkier balance and bulky offense teams, where it frequently acts as a great Calyrex-S check and often threatens to sweep once the opponent's defensive Arceus formes and Ho-Oh are worn down. Bulk Up Arceus struggles with special wallbreakers, like Miraidon and Kyogre, as it can't OHKO them without multiple boosts, allowing them to force out or heavily damage it. Thus, Eternatus is a great partner for Bulk Up Arceus, leveraging its Water resistance to be one of the best Kyogre switch-ins, as well as spreading poison with Toxic Spikes and Toxic. Ting-Lu, being balance's best and only Miraidon check, is also a great partner to Bulk Up Arceus due to its Electric immunity and great Special Defense. Before Terastallizing, Arceus is also weak to Koraidon's Low Kick and burn inflicted by defensive Arceus formes, Ho-Oh, and Giratina-O. Arceus-Fairy is a great burn absorber, can force out Ho-Oh with Power Gem, acts as a great Koraidon switch-in, and easily spreads paralysis with Thunder Wave to make it easier for Arceus to set up. Arceus-Water is also a great switch-in to Ho-Oh, leveraging its Fire resistance and threatening it out with Judgment. It also helps slow down Zacian-C, using its Water typing to resist Behemoth Blade and threatening Zacian-C with Will-O-Wisp but at the cost of letting opposing Koraidon use Low Kick more freely than Arceus-Fairy. Bulk Up Arceus is a deadweight against stall due to Dondozo, Skeledirge, Skarmory, and Garganacl walling it effectively. Thus, it appreciates stallbreaking teammates, such as Miraidon and Calyrex-S, which also assist in breaking Arceus-Fairy and Arceus-Water. Zacian-C also proves to be a challenge for Bulk Up Arceus to break on its own, so it usually relies on teammates such as Ho-Oh or the aforementioned Arceus-Water to force Zacian-C to switch out and slowly chip it with entry hazard damage. Choice Scarf Koraidon is also a great offensive check to Zacian-C and Miraidon, threatening OHKOes with Flare Blitz and Outrage, respectively.

Calm Mind Arceus-Ground is an amazing wallbreaker and setup sweeper thanks to its good natural bulk and coverage that cement it as a threat that cannot be ignored. Power Gem 2HKOes Ho-Oh and hits Ground-immune targets such as Gliscor and Landorus-T for decent damage after a Calm Mind boost. Tera Ground allows Arceus-Ground to 2HKO Ting-Lu at +1 after a layer of Spikes, 2HKO Arceus formes at +1, and OHKO Arceus formes at +1 them after 3 layers of Spikes. Tera Fairy makes Arceus-Ground immune to Miraidon's Draco Meteor and Koraidon's Outrage and Scale Shot while giving it a resistance to Low Kick from the latter and a neutrality to Calyrex-S's Grass Knot, making it difficult to revenge kill. However, it makes Arceus-Ground more vulnerable to Zacian-C's Behemoth Blade. More often than not, Arceus-Fairy ends up being the Calm Mind user that's easier to fit thanks to its defensive utility, which enables it to take on Koraidon. Although, Arceus-Ground fits on teams that tend to be weak to Necrozma-DM and Zacian-C. Calm Mind Arceus-Ground is best suited for balance and bulky offense teams where it is able to open up holes for its teammates. Calyrex-S in particular is a great teammate for Arceus-Ground, with both pressuring Ting-Lu and opening up a potential sweep for each other. Similarly, Miraidon helps to overwhelm their mutual check in Ting-Lu, paving the way for Arceus-Ground to clean up later. Calyrex-S can take advantage of Arceus-Ground locked into Calm Mind or Recover via Encore and use it as an opportunity to set up Nasty Plot. Grass Knot also does massive damage to unboosted Arceus-Ground; hence, Arceus-Ground appreciates Arceus, which is able to check Calyrex-S by effectively switching in on its Grass Knot and threatening it out with Shadow Claw. Koraidon, with its various sets such as Choice Scarf and Swords Dance, is able to brute force its way through Arceus-Ground, so Ho-Oh is another teammate that Arceus-Ground appreciates, helping keep Koraidon in check while soft checking Calyrex-S and Arceus. Arceus-Ground can struggle with entry hazards, which makes Hatterene a good partner, as it is able to bounce them back and can also bring in Arceus-Ground via Baton Pass, allowing it to set up on common switch-ins to Hatterene, such as Ho-Oh. Arceus-Ground also appreciates Choice Scarf Koraidon, which is able to bring it in via U-turn. Eternatus and Ting-Lu are also amazing teammates, setting up Toxic Spikes and Spikes, respectively, chipping foes and allowing Arceus-Ground to sweep more easily; Eternatus also helps keep Kyogre in check thanks to its bulk and access to Toxic. Arceus-Ground struggles to break through Giratina-O because of its Ground immunity, hence Arceus-Ground appreciates Arceus-Fairy because it is able to beat Giratina-O with Judgment. Arceus-Ground on the other hand is able to handle Arceus-Fairy's checks such as Necrozma-DM and Zacian-C and punish them with Judgment. Although, running both Arceus-Fairy and Arceus-Ground means that entry hazards like Spikes and Toxic Spikes could cause a big problem to them.

Arceus-Water is a good check to dangerous physical attackers like Necrozma-DM, Koraidon, Ho-Oh, Arceus, Arceus-Ground, and Zacian-C, and it soft checks non-Thunder Kyogre. Its resistances to moves like Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike and Koraidon's Flare Blitz and—most importantly—its ability to beat Ho-Oh set it apart from its main competition in Arceus-Ground. Dragon Tail phazes setup sweepers like Necrozma-DM and Arceus formes, as well as chipping Pokemon such as Miraidon and Eternatus on the switch-in and racking up entry hazard damage. Alternatively, Taunt stops setup sweepers from boosting and Pokemon like Ting-Lu from laying entry hazards, and Stealth Rock greatly hinders Choice Band Ho-Oh and weakens defensive Pokemon for Arceus-Water's teammates. Tera Fairy lets Arceus-Water more comfortably take Koraidon's Low Kick and completely block its Scale Shot, denying it a Speed boost; Tera Fairy does make Arceus-Water weak to Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike, however. Tera Poison also gives it a resistance to Low Kick, lets it absorb Toxic Spikes and Toxic from Eternatus, and improves its matchup against Wild Charge Zacian-C, albeit at the cost of leaving it vulnerable to foes like Necrozma-DM and Arceus-Ground. Both Tera types also help by removing Arceus-Water's weaknesses to Miraidon's Electro Drift and Calyrex-S's Grass Knot in a pinch. Arceus-Water should be used on balance and bulky offense teams, where both offensive Pokemon and walls benefit from its defensive utility. Arceus-Water can switch into walls like Ho-Oh and Arceus-Ground and common revenge killers like Arceus and Choice Scarf Koraidon for offensive teammates such as Calyrex-S, Miraidon, Arceus, and Zacian-C. In return, Calyrex-S and Miraidon can threaten Eternatus, one of Arceus-Water's biggest problems, and Zacian-C can safely switch into Eternatus lacking a Fire-type move. Necrozma-DM appreciates Arceus-Water checking Koraidon and Arceus-Ground; additionally, Necrozma-DM helps handle Wild Charge Zacian-C, can take Choice Band Ho-Oh's Brave Bird—which 2HKOes Arceus-Water with entry hazards up—and is the best Eternatus check in the metagame. Ting-Lu can handle Calyrex-S, Miraidon, and, to a certain extent, Eternatus for Arceus-Water and appreciates it taking on Pokemon like Koraidon, Ho-Oh, and Zacian-C. Eternatus can check Kyogre and absorb Toxic Spikes for Arceus-Water, and Arceus-Water deals with Ground-types like Arceus-Ground and Ting-Lu. Ho-Oh likes that Arceus-Water checks Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground and some Kyogre and helps take on Pokemon like Koraidon and Arceus. Offensive Ho-Oh in particular can also potentially lure in and KO Eternatus.

Bulky Swords Dance Arceus is one of the best late-game cleaners and revenge killers in the metagame. Its typing and bulk allows it to reliably take on Calyrex-S and heal itself with Recover. Shadow Claw allows Arceus to OHKO Calyrex-S and, at +2, 2HKO Necrozma-DM and Giratina-O. Heavy-Duty Boots increase Arceus's longevity, allowing it to safely come onto the field at any point in time, which makes it a difficult threat to deal with late-game. Tera Fire grants Arceus immunity to burn from Arceus-Fairy's Will-O-Wisp and Ho-Oh's Sacred Fire, allowing it to set up without fear. It allows Arceus to take on +2 Calyrex-S in a pinch, giving it a resistance to Calyrex-S's Grass Knot. Tera Fire also flips the tables on Zacian-C, granting a resistance to both of its STAB moves, which gives Arceus a better chance to take it on. However, the drawbacks of Tera Fire are that it removes Arceus's immunity to Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage and makes it weak to Earthquake from Ting-Lu and Arceus-Ground as well as Arceus-Water's Judgment, being 2HKOed by the latter outside of sun. Tera Normal, on the other hand, boosts Extreme Speed's power to respectable levels, allowing Arceus to OHKO uninvested Miraidon at +2, 2HKO Arceus-Fairy, Ho-Oh, and Arceus-Water, and OHKO Koraidon after one layer of Spikes. Furthermore, Tera Normal retains Arceus's defensive utility to check Calyrex-S. Arceus excels on almost every archetype, fitting best on structures that want a late-game cleaner and revenge killer. Calyrex-S can take advantage of Arceus locked into any move that is not Shadow Claw via Encore and use it as an opportunity to set up Nasty Plot. Choice item Calyrex-S sets like to carry Trick, which cripples Arceus by significantly decreasing its sweeping capabilities. Secondary checks to Calyrex-S such as Ting-Lu and Kingambit are appreciated to share the burden of dealing with it. Furthermore, Ting-Lu can set up Spikes, which assist Arceus in acting as a late-game cleaner by chipping bulky Arceus formes and Koraidon. When unboosted, Arceus is forced out by Miraidon's powerful Electro Drift, so Ting-Lu's ability to take on Miraidon thanks to its bulk and 2HKO it with Earthquake is appreciated. Koraidon can OHKO Arceus thanks to Low Kick, and even when chipped and in range of boosted Extreme Speed, it can use Tera Ghost to avoid being KOed, which often forces Arceus to Terastallize in order to survive Low Kick. Hence, Arceus appreciates walls that can check Koraidon such as Arceus-Fairy, Arceus-Water, Ho-Oh, and Landorus-T. The former two carry Will-O-Wisp to cripple Koraidon, with Arceus-Fairy also scaring it out with Judgment. Ho-Oh can burn Koraidon with Sacred Fire or 2HKO it with Brave Bird. Landorus-T, meanwhile, likes to carry Rocky Helmet to chip Koraidon. Arceus also struggles with Zacian-C, as it cannot break through with either Extreme Speed or Shadow Claw, making Arceus-Water and Landorus-T good partners because they help check Zacian-C. Arceus-Water resists Behemoth Blade and can burn Zacian-C with Will-O-Wisp, while Landorus-T can nullify its Intrepid Sword with Intimidate, chip it with Rocky Helmet, and 2HKO it with Earthquake. Additionally, Choice Scarf Koraidon and Calyrex-S can revenge kill Zacian-C. Arceus finds it difficult to break through staple defensive Pokemon such as Ho-Oh, Arceus-Fairy, and Arceus-Water. Consequently, special attackers such as Calyrex-S and Miraidon are great teammates to pair with Arceus. Miraidon can beat these checks with its raw power and access to Electro Drift, while Calyrex-S can break through them with a variety of options such as Nasty Plot + Astral Barrage or Choice item sets. Furthermore, Calm Mind Arceus-Fairy and Kyogre can also beat the aforementioned checks, as well as Ting-Lu, which can stop Arceus from sweeping with Whirlwind if healthy, and, with Tera Poison, Eternatus, which otherwise can Toxic Arceus and put it on a timer.

At +1, it 2HKOes neutral targets like bulky Arceus formes and Kyogre and deals significant damage to Eternatus. Power Gem allows Arceus-Fairy to break past Fire-types like Ho-Oh, Tera Fire Arceus, and Skeledirge. Tera Poison flips the matchup on Eternatus, allowing Arceus-Fairy to set up Calm Mind freely and absorb Toxic Spikes. However, it comes with the drawback of making Arceus-Fairy weak to Ting-Lu's Earthquake, though the latter needs to Terastallize into a Steel- or Poison-type to avoid taking heavy damage from boosted Judgment. Tera Poison also leaves Arceus-Fairy weak to Calyrex-S's Psychic and Psyshock, with the latter inflicting heavy damage to even a boosted Arceus-Fairy. Additionally, it makes Arceus-Fairy vulnerable to Koraidon's Scale Shot, which can revenge kill a weakened Arceus-Fairy while threatening a sweep. A Timid nature is preferred for outspeeding Modest Miraidon and max Speed Arceus formes without a Speed boosting nature, though Modest is still a viable alternative for the increased damage output, notably 2HKOing Eternatus and having a chance to OHKO Ho-Oh, both at +1. Calm Mind Arceus-Fairy serves as an excellent addition to teams looking for a potent, self-sufficient wallbreaker and setup sweeper that applies tremendous pressure on the opponent's defensive backbone, clearing a path for teammates like Calyrex-S, Choice Scarf Koraidon, and Swords Dance Arceus to clean up late-game. Arceus-Fairy takes advantage of passive switch-ins like Ho-Oh, Ting-Lu, Landorus-T, and bulky Arceus formes to set up Calm Mind and punch holes through opposing teams. It finds ample setup opportunities to sweep against most teams; however, the lack of coverage for Steel-types, particularly Necrozma-DM and Zacian-C, renders it ineffective against them. Both are capable of surviving boosted Judgment and take advantage of Arceus-Fairy to set up Dragon Dance and Swords Dance, respectively. Necrozma-DM, backed by recovery from Moonlight, has no issues against Arceus-Fairy long-term. Due to this set not having any defensive investment, it is easily overwhelmed by strong attackers such as Calyrex-S, Swords Dance Arceus, Kyogre, and Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground. Arceus-Fairy also takes massive damage from Koraidon and Miraidon, but neither likes to switch in directly due to fearing an OHKO from Judgment. Hence, it appreciates teammates such as Ting-Lu, Arceus-Water, Eternatus, and Landorus-T. Ting-Lu provides entry hazard support and switches in on strong attacks such as Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage and Miraidon's Electro Drift, which threaten Arceus-Fairy out. Arceus-Water and Landorus-T help cover a myriad of physical attackers such as Koraidon, Swords Dance Arceus, Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground, Zacian-C, and Necrozma-DM. Landorus-T also helps to bring in Arceus-Fairy via U-turn, thereby increasing setup chances. As Arceus-Fairy is vulnerable to status, especially Thunder Wave, Eternatus is a good partner that takes on Ho-Oh's Sacred Fire and switches in on Kyogre's rain-boosted Water Spout and Origin Pulse as well as Thunder Wave. It also cripples defensive cores by spreading poison with Toxic Spikes, making it easier for Arceus-Fairy to clean up weakened teams. Calyrex-S and Choice Scarf Koraidon are great revenge killers, threatening both Necrozma-DM and Zacian-C. Special walls such as Clodsire, Whirlwind Tera Grass Ho-Oh, and Calm Mind Blissey are capable of stopping Arceus-Fairy from sweeping by phazing it or shrugging off boosted hits. Thus, partners such as Choice Specs Calyrex-S, Koraidon, offensive Ho-Oh, and Swords Dance Arceus that can break the aforementioned walls make for great teammates. Koraidon and Miraidon provide opportunities for Arceus-Fairy to set up through pivoting with U-turn against common switch-ins such as defensive Arceus formes, Ho-Oh, and Ting-Lu.

Offensive Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground is a potent setup sweeper, leveraging its high Speed tier and Dragon Dance to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame after one boost and all Choice Scarf users after two boosts while punching holes through teams with boosted Earthquake. Taunt stops Pokemon such as Arceus-Fairy, Arceus-Water, and defensive Arceus-Ground from burning Arceus-Ground with Will-O-Wisp while also stopping Ting-Lu and Terastallized Ho-Oh from phazing it with Whirlwind. Furthermore, Taunt blocks recovery from defensive Pokemon like support Arceus formes and Dondozo, allowing Arceus-Ground to break through or cripple them for a teammate. Stone Edge allows Arceus-Ground to OHKO Ho-Oh at +1. Tera Fire is used to block Will-O-Wisp, resist Koraidon's Flare Blitz, resist Calyrex-S's Grass Knot, resist both of Zacian-C's STAB moves, and resist Arceus-Fairy's Judgment. However, it does make Arceus-Ground weak to Stealth Rock and Ting-Lu's Earthquake, and it maintains its weakness to Arceus-Water's Judgment. Arceus-Ground is a staple on hyper offense teams, alongside suicide leads such as Deoxys-S, Ribombee, and Glimmora. Other offense staples like Zacian-C, Arceus, and Koraidon greatly benefit from Arceus-Ground's presence, as they both struggle with defensive Arceus formes. Arceus-Ground can help chip down the aforementioned Arceus formes that frequently switch in on it, using Taunt to deny Recover and entry hazards, allowing its teammates to eventually break through them. This works the other way around as well, with Koraidon and Zacian-C doing a great deal of damage to defensive Arceus formes and Koraidon knocking support Arceus formes into Earthquake's KO range, potentially enabling a sweep. Arceus-Ground also serves a vital role on hyper offense teams as an Electric-immune Pokemon, which allows it to force out and set up on Miraidon, an otherwise potentially significant threat. Calyrex-S and Arceus-Ground share a common check in Ting-Lu, which they chip into KO range of each other, allowing for one of them to sweep. Arceus and Arceus-Ground also both struggle with Giratina-O, as Giratina-O's Ground and Normal immunity makes it a hard-to-break wall. This can be circumvented by using Arceus to chip Giratina-O with Swords Dance-boosted Shadow Claw, which can allow Arceus-Ground to sweep with Stone Edge without having to fear Dragon Tail or Will-O-Wisp.

Arceus-Ghost can provide very consistent utility to its team with its immunity to item removal and built in self-Imposter-proofing through Judgment. Shore Up is the preferred healing move because it isn't blocked by the likes of Blissey and Mega Audino, but Strength Sap heals more HP at once and fares better against Choice Band users. Knock Off removes crucial items from walls like Heavy-Duty Boots and Covert Cloak from Mega Audino, making them susceptible to entry hazard damage or getting poisoned by Mortal Spin. Potentially removing Eviolite from Imposter users is also nice but should not be relied on, as these foes rarely want to switch in on Arceus-Ghost. Spikes takes advantage of Arceus-Ghost's conventional switch-ins, like Blissey, being passive and lacking hazard removal; alternatively, Rapid Spin and Mortal Spin provide hard-to-block hazard removal. Magic Guard is the preferred ability, as it provides an immunity to entry hazards and other chip damage such as Salt Cure and Mortal Spin, but Fur Coat makes Arceus-Ghost function as more of a wall capable of soft checking foes like Koraidon. Arceus-Ghost fits well on entry hazard-stacking teams, as it can easily provide item removal support and reliably block Rapid Spin. Teams that stack hazard-immune teammates also enjoy Arceus-Ghost as a Knock Off absorber. Most attackers such as Ash-Greninja or and Eternatus appreciate Arceus-Ghost stacking Spikes to wear away at their checks or, in Eternatus's case, directly damage checks like Ice Scales Arceus formes. Other teammates such as RegenVest Celesteela and Mega Audino also synergize well with Arceus-Ghost defensively alongside the occasional Imposter-proofing Arceus-Ghost can provide for them. Arceus-Ghost is particularly vulnerable to Dark-types and opposing Ghost-types that are faster such as Ash-Greninja, Yveltal, and Flutter Mane; therefore, checks to them like the aforementioned Mega Audino are valuable.

Arceus-Water differentiates itself from other bulky Water-types such as Mega Slowbro and Dondozo through its good Speed tier and balanced bulk, which makes it more resilient to slower wallbreakers like Mega Garchomp. Its Special Defense also means it doesn't instantly fold to Electro Drift coverage, while the aforementioned Water-types are both OHKOed by any Tough Claws user with it. Fur Coat allows Arceus-Water to wall threats like Mega Garchomp and Ash-Greninja, albeit needing a Bold nature to dodge a potential 2HKO from Ash-Greninja's Flower Trick. Scald threatens burns on Pokemon like Mega Lucario and defensive switch-ins like RegenVest users. Due to Arceus-Water's weakness to Thunder Cage, Spirit Shackle is the safest option for Fur Coat variants to Imposter-proof themselves. Spirit Shackle variants can utilize Shore Up to not have recovery denied by Magic Guard Blissey. Arceus-Water still takes a lot of damage from coverage options like Electro Drift and Ash-Greninja's Flower Trick, so backup checks to these like Dragon-types and Fur Coat Fairy-types help. Arceus-Water can generally Imposter-proof itself but can always be Imposter-proofed by Imposter Chansey as a backup.

With a natural immunity to Mortal Spin, as well as self-Imposter-proofing potential by resisting Imposter users' Judgment, Arceus-Steel is free to use Nasty Plot, considerably improving its offensive capabilities and turning it into a potent bulky setup attacker. This also means it can run Shore Up over Strength Sap while still beating Imposter users, allowing it to avoid having its healing denied from low-Attack Pokemon like Chansey and Magic Bounce users. Tachyon Cutter is the STAB move of choice, with its multiple hits also being useful in setup wars for higher critical hit chances, but Revelation Dance should be used on non-Good as Gold sets that need to hit Normalize users. Judgment allows Arceus-Steel to Imposter-proof itself while running a Plate of a type that is super effective against transformed Imposter users. Fist Plate is generally the go-to option, providing coverage on Steel-types, as well as neutral coverage on Pokemon such as Celesteela, while hitting Ting-Lu and Chansey. Alternatively, Earth Plate is an option on non-Levitate sets, still hitting Steel-types like Registeel and opposing Arceus-Steel but also hitting Mega Blaziken, Miraidon, and Eternatus super effectively, notably preventing the former from coming in to force Arceus-Steel out. Good as Gold blocks a myriad of status moves that could otherwise neuter Arceus-Steel, including Topsy-Turvy, Encore, and Parting Shot. It also denies Flutter Mane's healing from Pain Split, Entrainment from Normalize users, and Strength Sap users in a pinch. Alternatively, Well-Baked Body lets Arceus-Steel answer Torch Song Dragon-types and flip the matchup completely on some Ho-Oh sets. Levitate is another option, particularly for entry hazard stack teams, as it provides an immunity to Spikes while letting Arceus-Steel switch into Mega Garchomp's STAB moves. Arceus-Steel can fit on most playstyles due to its flexibility. Offensive and balance teams appreciate its role compression in defensive utility and offensive presence, while Levitate variants fit well on entry hazard stack structures. Knock Off support from the likes of Ting-Lu, Zamazenta, and Mega Gardevoir is highly appreciated, as they can remove key items such as Celesteela's Assault Vest and Ho-Oh's Heavy-Duty Boots, preventing them from checking Arceus-Steel effectively. Residual damage sources from Spikes and Stone Axe are also helpful to chip checks into KO range, particularly offensive checks like Mega Garchomp and Mega Blaziken. Flutter Mane is notable as a Spikes setter, since it can be Imposter-proofed by Arceus-Steel and also act as a switch-in to Zamazenta depending on the ability. Other checks to Zamazenta include utility Eternatus and Fur Coat Celesteela, with the former also providing a Fire resistance and the latter a Ground immunity. Arceus-Steel can Imposter-proof certain special wallbreakers, such as Knock Off Mega Gardevoir and, if it is running Well-Baked Body, Mega Sceptile and Eternatus; in return, they help apply pressure on shared special walls like Chansey, Ho-Oh, and RegenVest Pokemon. Arceus-Steel is generally self-Imposter-proof, but teammates like Chansey can easily serve as secondary Imposter-proof answers should it end up too low on health.

Take Heart provides boosting while denying poison from Mortal Spin, which would otherwise force it out. The Fairy-type move of choice can vary: Moonblast is the 2nd strongest Fairy move of the bunch, has higher PP, and has a decent Special Attack drop, while Revelation Dance is effective against Normalize. Leftovers allows Arceus-Fairy to not have its healing cut off by Pokemon with low attack, as well as giving it increased longevity. Arceus-Fairy is typically splashed onto bulkier teams as a wall against threats like Mega Garchomp, Mega Sceptile, and Ash-Greninja, in addition to compressing a late-game win condition at the same time. Arceus-Fairy's solid typing and bulk mean it can serve as a good Imposter-proof to Pokemon like these. Arceus-Fairy does falter to fast Pokemon that can easily slot Steel or Poison-type coverage, like Koraidon for Fur Coat sets, and Sheer Force Ash-Greninja for Ice Scales sets, so defensive Pokemon that can stonewall them like RegenVest Dialga-O, Mega Swampert, and Zamazenta can assist with that, and, in Mega Swampert's case, provides a very valuable check to the threatening Mega Lucario. Arceus-Fairy is both stonewalled and has its healing denied by Blissey and Chansey, so a teammate with Psystrike or a similar move that can pressure them out, like Mega Gardevoir or High Jump Kick Mega Sceptile, is highly recommended.

Setup Arceus-Ghost acts as a fairly dangerous Imposter-proof sweeper that can also function as a bulky physical wall. Shore Up provides consistent recovery and isn't stopped by Strength Sap blockers like Blissey and Mega Audino, the latter of which Arceus-Ghost can't feasibly threaten; alternatively, Strength Sap has higher instant healing and makes it much more solid against physical attackers and Imposter users. Nasty Plot provides an immediately threatening boost, letting Arceus-Ghost immediately 2HKO neutral non-Ice Scales Arceus formes without any prior chip damage. Torch Song boosts slower but damages while boosting and provides a strong tool against RegenVest Celesteela. Take Heart bolsters Arceus-Ghost's special bulk and gets rid of crippling status such as paralysis from Glare and poison from Mortal Spin, but it is not advised if not using Strength Sap or Knock Off, as Imposter users can wall Arceus-Ghost barring critical hits. Knock Off is the preferred last move, as it removes crucial items such as Heavy-Duty Boots from the likes of Mega Audino and Assault Vest from Celesteela. Secret Sword is an alternative that provides no support but ensures Arceus-Ghost can break through Blissey and certain Take Heart Arceus formes such as Ice Scales Arceus-Electric if running Take Heart itself. Arceus-Ghost best functions as both a sturdy physical wall early-game and a late-game wincon when most of its checks have been chipped down or crippled, so it pairs well with early- to mid-game wallbreakers or defensive progress-makers, such as Mega Garchomp and Spikes users like Mega Audino; Arceus-Ghost can in return help Imposter-proof them or block Rapid Spin. Arceus-Ghost enjoys entry hazard support in particular, as it forces a lot of switches after setting up, forcing quite a bit of free chip damage. Arceus-Ghost is mostly checked by Mega Audino, so another teammate that can pressure it such as Eternatus is also helpful. Arceus-Ghost should not be used as your only physical wall, as it is very vulnerable to Choice Band Ash-Greninja, and Shore Up sets can be prone to running out of PP in longer games; therefore, another physical wall such as Fur Coat Mega Audino or Fur Coat Zacian pairs well with it.

Arceus-Rock's unique typing and access to Will-O-Wisp allow it to carve out a niche as a check to foes such as Extreme Killer Arceus, Mega Salamence, and Rayquaza while putting pressure on common Defoggers like Ho-Oh and crippling would-be checks like Necrozma-DM and Zygarde with Will-O-Wisp. Will-O-Wisp allows Arceus-Rock to check Extreme Killer Arceus, Mega Salamence, and Rayquaza more effectively and lets it cripple other physical attackers, such as Calyrex-I and Zekrom. It also greatly annoys common Rock-resistant Pokemon, such as Zygarde, Zacian-C, Necrozma-DM, and Arceus-Ground. Stealth Rock is a good option, since Arceus-Rock threatens common Defoggers like Ho-Oh and Yveltal, keeping it up consistently. Taunt lets Arceus-Rock deny foes' attempts to recover health or spread status. Refresh lets Arceus-Rock shrug off Toxic and burns from Ho-Oh, defensive Eternatus, and Arceus-Dark. Ice Beam can be ran in the third slot to lure in and catch Zygarde off guard. The given EV spread enables Arceus-Rock to avoid a 2HKO from specially offensive Yveltal's Dark Pulse, avoid an OHKO from +1 Adamant Mega Salamence's Earthquake after Stealth Rock, and almost always avoid an OHKO from +1 Life Orb Rayquaza's Earthquake while having enough Speed to outpace Chi-Yu. The rest of the EVs are invested to OHKO defensive Ho-Oh. Tera Rock lets Arceus-Rock fire off more powerful Judgments, notably letting it OHKO defensive Yveltal and 2HKO defensive Primal Groudon, offensive Eternatus, and offensive Primal Kyogre after Stealth Rock, while retaining its ability to check Extreme Killer Arceus, Mega Salamence and Rayquaza. Tera Grass can also be used to turn its weaknesses to Ground and Water into resistances, providing defensive insurance for Zygarde, Arceus-Ground, and Primal Kyogre. Arceus-Rock should be used aggressively to chip the opposing team with STAB Judgment, which is difficult to switch into, while burning the opposing Rock-resistant foes, such as Zacian-C and Marshadow, and pressuring common forms of hazard control. This role is expanded upon when facing Extreme Killer Arceus, Rayquaza, Ho-Oh, Yveltal, and Mega Salamence, in which case Arceus-Rock should be preserved to check these threats. Arceus-Rock appreciates teammates like Yveltal, Ho-Oh, and Eternatus that cover its numerous weaknesses to common moves, such as Arceus-Ground's Earthquake and Kyogre's Origin Pulse, while they, in turn, appreciate Arceus-Rock's ability to check strong physical attackers like Extreme Killer Arceus and Mega Salamence. Running Stealth Rock on Arceus-Rock can allow Primal Groudon to run more offensive sets. Pokemon that appreciate Arceus-Rock burning Steel-types, such as Eternatus, Zacian-C, and Mega Salamence, are good partners, as they can set up more easily. Mega Salamence is especially good to pair with, as it checks Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre offensively and can use a burned Necrozma-DM lacking status moves as setup fodder. Arceus-Rock and Gothitelle make a good pairing, since Arceus-Rock can burn physical attackers such as Zygarde, Necrozma-DM, and Dragon Dance Arceus-Ground to make Gothitelle's trapping more consistent; in turn, Gothitelle takes out these Ground- and Steel-types that threaten Arceus-Rock.

Arceus-Ground serves as one of the tier's best special attackers, working as a strong wallbreaker and setup sweeper with Judgment and a coverage move of choice thanks to its strong matchups into top Pokemon, such as Primal Groudon and Eternatus. Arceus-Ground also works as a sweeper by saving its HP for late-game after its checks have been worn down. It typically fits best on bulky offense and balance teams. Calm Mind boosts Arceus's already-strong Special Attack and Special Defense. While the offensive upside is obvious, it is also valuable defensively. At +1, Arceus-Ground survives attacks such as defensive Primal Kyogre's Scald and Life Orb Deoxys-A's Ice Beam. Arceus-Ground can set up on Pokémon that it forces out such as Meteor Beam Eternatus and offensive utility Primal Groudon. Judgment hits key targets for super effective damage, such as OHKOing offensive Zacian-C, offensive Primal Groudon, and Meteor Beam Eternatus. Defensive Primal Groudon is OHKOed after Stealth Rock and a layer of Spikes. At +1, Judgment threatens to 2HKO defensive Arceus sets, such as Arceus-Dark and Arceus-Water, along with securing the 2HKO on defensive Necrozma-DM. Also at +1, Judgment OHKOs defensive Primal Groudon and Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM while 2HKOing offensive Primal Kyogre and Calyrex-I. Ice Beam provides coverage for Flying-type Pokemon, OHKOing offensive Mega Salamence, Zygarde, and Rayquaza. It also 2HKOes offensive Yveltal sets and does good chip damage to Giratina-O. Power Gem also hits Flying-types for super effective damage, even if it misses out on hitting Dragon-types such as Giratina-O and Zygarde. One major benefit to running Power Gem, however, is hitting Ho-Oh. Defensive Ho-Oh walls Ice Beam variants but gets 2HKOed by Power Gem, forcing it to Terastallize if it wants to continue to wall Arceus-Ground. Recover is used to prevent Arceus-Ground from getting worn down over the course of a game by healing off damage from entry hazards or weak moves such as Alomomola's Flip Turn. It can also be used to soft check certain attackers in a pinch, such letting Life Orb Marshadow chip itself down into range of Judgment, or helping Arceus-Ground beat defensive Primal Groudon and Eternatus more reliably. An alternative EV spread of 72 HP / 60 Def / 252 SpA / 124 Spe with a Modest nature can be used. This spread gives it an excellent matchup against Trick Room teams, as after Tera Water, it is 3HKOed by Choice Band Melmetal's Double Iron Bash and Choice Band Calyrex-I's Glacial Lance, and it has enough offensive EVs to OHKO uninvested Eternatus with Judgment and OHKO uninvested Zygarde with Ice Beam. Without Tera, Arceus-Ground also survives two offensive Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strikes, and it can survive Draco Meteor from Choice Specs Eternatus after a layer of Spikes. The downside of using this spread comes primarily at the cost of lowering its Speed, letting it get outsped by maximum speed Arceus formes and Palkia-O. Tera Ground is used to bolster the offensive power of Judgment, turning defensive Necrozma-DM from a likely 2HKO after Leftovers to a guaranteed 2HKO. It also secures the OHKO against defensive Primal Groudon and turns specially defensive Eternatus from a 2HKO into a likely OHKO after hazard damage. It also allows Arceus-Ground to brute force past potential checks such as defensive Primal Kyogre and Arceus-Water. Tera Water turns Arceus-Ground's weaknesses to Ice-type and Water-type moves into resistances, which allows it to beat defensive Primal Kyogre easily while also handling offensive variants, albeit less comfortably. Tera Water also flips the matchup against Calyrex-I, allowing Arceus-Ground to tank Glacial Lance. This Arceus-Ground set is best applicable to bulky offensive and balance teams. Its raw strength and good bulk allow it to come into the game multiple times to get setup opportunities. It enjoys hazard support from teammates such as Primal Groudon. Another option is Wish support, such as Alomomola, whose Wish and Flip Turn combination allows Arceus-Ground to be brought in against many of the tier's threats. Alomomola also serves as a status absorber for Arceus-Ground. Choice Band Rayquaza is another great partner to pivot Arceus-Ground into the game while also OHKOing wallbreaker Primal Kyogre. It also serves as a stallbreaker, a needed role on Arceus-Ground teams, as it struggles to break stall teams long-term. Other good partners for Arceus-Ground include strong physical attackers such as Choice Band Marshadow, whose strength allows it to break through special walls that Arceus-Ground may struggle to break through, such as Ho-Oh and support Arceus formes, and other special setup Pokemon such as Calm Mind Primal Kyogre.

Arceus-Ground covers a wide variety of foes and utility roles, thanks to its solid mixed bulk and wide movepool. Its typing hits some of the most relevant threats in the metagame super effectively while also giving it few weaknesses and relevant resistances, allowing it to answer a variety of foes such as Primal Groudon, Necrozma-DM, Eternatus, and Yveltal and turning it into a versatile pick for a wide variety of team structures. Toxic allows Arceus-Ground to hinder switch-ins immune to Judgment like Ho-Oh, Giratina-O, Mega Salamence, and Yveltal; Ice Beam alternatively complements Judgment to hit all previously mentioned foes but Ho-Oh, as well as Zygarde, super effectively. Taunt prevents entry hazards from Primal Groudon, Necrozma-DM, and Ferrothorn, Defog from Ho-Oh and Giratina-O, disruptive moves such as Glare, Toxic, and Will-O-Wisp from Zygarde, Yveltal, and Giratina-O, and setup and recovery moves from Zygarde, Primal Groudon, and Necrozma-DM, rendering them easier to beat. Stealth Rock provides general utility to support the rest of Arceus-Ground's team, helping wallbreaking allies such as Primal Groudon and Zacian-C to net more OHKOs as they force switches. The given EV spread avoids a 2HKO from Life Orb Marshadow's Low Kick after Stealth Rock and a 2HKO from Zacian-C's Play Rough after Intrepid Sword and Stealth Rock. The Speed investment ensures Arceus-Ground outspeeds fully invested Primal Groudon, and the remaining EVs are used on Special Attack to raise the odds to OHKO Zacian-C and Zekrom after Stealth Rock with Judgment. Arceus-Ground is a Pokemon that doesn't Terastallize often, as its allies usually make better use of the mechanic. Tera Poison renders it unable to check Ground-types such as Primal Groudon, opposing Arceus-Ground, and Zygarde and makes it weaker to Stealth Rock. However, Tera Poison raises the accuracy of Toxic, increases Arceus-Ground's longevity by making it immune to Toxic itself from foes such as Giratina-O, Ho-Oh, and Yveltal, enables it to wall further foes such as Marshadow and Eternatus, and lets it absorb Eternatus's Toxic Spikes, supporting its team with entry hazard control. Arceus-Ground's special bulk can be too lacking at times to handle foes such as Mega Mewtwo Y and Lunala; as such, it appreciates partners to make a defensive core with, such as Ho-Oh, Necrozma-DM, and Yveltal. Water-types such as Primal Kyogre, Palkia-O, and Arceus-Water can easily break past Arceus-Ground; therefore, it appreciates Pokemon on its side like Primal Groudon, Eternatus, and Ferrothorn to handle them. Wallbreakers that can break past foes Arceus-Ground can't do much against on its own are valuable to ease progress. For example, Zacian-C threatens Giratina-O and Mega Mewtwo Y for Arceus-Ground sets without Toxic, Primal Kyogre covers Ho-Oh and Zygarde for variants without both Ice Beam and Toxic, and Marshadow can make progress against Ho-Oh, Giratina-O, and Primal Groudon independently of Arceus-Ground's set, especially with Stealth Rock support from Arceus-Ground to wear down the other team.

Arceus-Ghost's singular Ghost typing gives it a unique presence both offensively and defensively. For the hyper offense structures it fits on, it serves as a check to Extreme Killer Arceus, as well as a spinblocker against Rapid Spin Smeargle. With Ghostium Z, Arceus-Ghost makes for a strong wallbreaker that is able to push past would-be checks such as Zygarde and defensive Ho-Oh. However, Dark-types such as Yveltal and Arceus-Dark are a major nuisance for Arceus-Ghost, especially their defensive variants that can take hits with ease. Meanwhile, other Ghost-types, such as Marshadow and Lunala, don't have to worry about them as much due to their superior coverage combined with access to Terastalization. Additionally, taking up a Z-Move slot on the hyper offense teams it is mandatory on makes it hard to justify over Ultra Necrozma and Chi-Yu, both of which perform similar roles to it. There's also the issue of it taking up the Arceus slot compared to using Extreme Killer Arceus or Arceus-Ground, both of which are more consistent. Regardless, Arceus-Ghost's combination of offensive and defensive traits, as well as it being naturally Imposter-proof against Ditto, carves it a small niche. Swords Dance allows Arceus-Ghost to OHKO Zygarde and defensive Primal Groudon with +2 Never-Ending Nightmare as well as offensive Eternatus with +2 Shadow Force. Alternatively, Dragon Dance allows it to outspeed Chien-Pao, Zacian-C, and Deoxys-A, preventing the former from revenge killing it as easily. Arceus-Ghost can still OHKO defensive Ho-Oh and defensive Primal Kyogre with +1 Never-Ending Nightmare, as well as Necrozma-DM and Giratina-O with +1 Shadow Force, even if its wallbreaking capabilities are limited. Shadow Force is mostly used to provide the strongest possible Never-Ending Nightmare for Arceus-Ghost. Its two-turn nature can be awkward, which is why Ghostium Z is needed for circumvent this issue . More notably though, this makes Arceus-Ghost Imposter-proofed against Ditto, since the latter will always outspeed it, thus never hitting it if they both use Shadow Force at the same time. Stone Edge allows Arceus-Ghost to snipe Ho-Oh and Yveltal, removing Arceus-Ghost's need to use its Z-Move to OHKO the former to prevent it from phazing. Unboosted Stone Edge OHKOes offensive Ho-Oh and can more reliably OHKO defensive Ho-Oh and specially offensive Yveltal after a boost. Alternatively, Brick Break enables Arceus-Ghost to 2HKO Arceus-Dark and Arceus at +1. It also hits more niche targets, such as Chien-Pao, Garganacl, and Kingambit, that may be annoying for Arceus-Ghost to deal with. It should be noted that both coverage options hit Chi-Yu super effectively, although +2 Shadow Force OHKOes it regardless. Extreme Speed is a niche option that can snipe Deoxys-A for Swords Dance variants while limiting Yveltal and Chien-Pao's ability to revenge kill it with Sucker Punch, but it is quite weak and only works well against opposing offense teams, not bulkier ones. Substitute protects Arceus-Ghost from harmful status conditions, such as burn from Ho-Oh's Sacred Fire and poison from Alomomola's Toxic, and limits Yveltal's and Chien-Pao's ability to revenge kill it with priority moves. Dragon Dance variants also benefit from Substitute limiting Marshadow's ability to pick it off with Shadow Sneak too; however, it can simply outspeed and bypass Substitute with Spectral Thief against Swords Dance variants. Alternatively, Taunt denies status moves, whether it be entry hazards from Ferrothorn or opposing setup such as Coil Zygarde and Curse Dondozo, preventing the former from reliably checking it. It also maintains hazards against Ho-Oh and Giratina-O. Recover is a niche option that provides Arceus-Ghost more longevity, but it is much less useful than the other two options. The first given EV spread is ideal for Swords Dance variants, allowing Arceus-Ghost to survive Choice Band Marshadow's Tera Ghost Shadow Sneak, and maximum Speed investment lets it Speed tie with Modest Palkia-O and Adamant Mega Salamence, although this may be problematic against Substitute variants of the former. It still avoids the OHKO from Choice Band Marshadow's Tera Ghost Shadow Sneak—now after Stealth Rock—as well as Choice Band Tera Flying Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent and wallbreaker Primal Kyogre's Origin Pulse. However, it also makes Arceus-Ghost significantly slower; it is unable to outspeed fully invested Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre, but it does still outspeed Deoxys-A after a boost. Arceus-Ghost relies heavily on Ghostium Z to maximize its wallbreaking capabilities against Coil Zygarde, defensive Primal Groudon, and support Arceus formes. It should only be used against these bulkier foes and not frailer targets such as Deoxys-A and Mega Mewtwo Y. This is especially true for Swords Dance variants that focus more on wallbreaking early- or mid game than sweeping. Dragon Dance variants of Arceus-Ghost should be preserved until late-game where Dark-types such as Arceus-Dark and Yveltal have been worn down significantly either by hazards or by teammates such as Meteor Beam Eternatus and Mega Salamence. Waiting until late-game also minimizes the risk of a sudden Terastalization, such as Tera Dark Ho-Oh and Arceus-Fairy, even if these are niche situations. Arceus-Ghost does not need significant boosts to clean up weakened teams. Pokemon that are able to break through Dark-types are greatly appreciated. Zacian-C can use offensive variants of Yveltal and Arceus-Dark as setup fodder due to resisting all their STAB options barring the niche Heat Wave from Yveltal. Meteor Beam Eternatus does well against defensive Yveltal and defensive Arceus-Dark while also sniping Ho-Oh. Both of these partners appreciate Arceus-Ghost's ability to break past common defensive Pokemon, such as Primal Groudon, Zygarde, and Ho-Oh. Suicide leads are essential for supporting Arceus-Ghost. Smeargle and Shuckle are great for Swords Dance variants, making up for its low Speed and preventing Chien-Pao and Marshadow from easily revenge killing it. Deoxys-S and Glimmora work well with Dragon Dance variants, making up for its lesser power with hazard support; this also limits Choice Scarf Yveltal's ability to switch into Arceus-Ghost, since it can be OHKOed by +1 Stone Edge after Stealth Rock. They all appreciate Arceus-Ghost discouraging Giratina-O and Ho-Oh from removing their hazards via Defog, if not denying removal entirely with Taunt.

With its sheer power, decent bulk, and solid movepool options, Arceus defines itself as one of the tier's most devastating setup sweepers, wallbreakers, and revenge killers. Terastalization, whether it be Normal or Ghost, makes Arceus even more difficult to answer for balance and bulky offense teams due to either its extreme power or improved trading capabilities with would-be revenge killers. Due to it not requiring specific support to function effectively, it is a staple for various hyper offense structures that appreciate a bulky setup sweeper that works well against opposing hyper offense teams. Extreme Speed lets Arceus clean through weakened teams, since not many viable Pokemon resist or are immune to it. Combined with Swords Dance, Arceus can clean up the majority of the offensive metagame, including threats such as Eternatus, Ultra Necrozma, and Sucker Punch Yveltal. Shadow Claw synergizes perfectly with Extreme Speed, hitting Ghost-types such as Giratina-O, Marshadow, and Lunala, which are immune to Extreme Speed, and preventing them being reliable checks to Arceus. Double-Edge makes the most out of the limited number of foes that can switch into Normal-type moves to enhance Arceus's wallbreaking capabilities. It is able to OHKO defensive Ho-Oh and defensive Primal Kyogre after a boost. With Tera Normal, it can also OHKO Coil Zygarde at +2, preventing it from being a consistent check. Taunt denies status conditions from Giratina-O, Alomomola, and support Arceus formes as well as opposing setup from slower foes such as Coil Zygarde and IronPress Garganacl. It has good merit for hyper offense teams too, denying Defog from Ho-Oh and the aforementioned Giratina-O. Recover is a niche option that lets Arceus shrug off attacks, such as Giratina-O's Draco Meteor, Choice Specs Lunala's Moonblast, and support Arceus's Judgment; it notably let Arceus beat Thunder Wave variants of Giratina-O due to its Special Attack drops. However, Arceus is usually better off just attacking instead of using Recover, especially compared to the usefulness of Taunt. Earthquake is another niche option for Sticky Web teams over Double-Edge or Taunt, letting Arceus OHKO Zacian-C after a boost while hitting Garganacl. However, this is very specific because +2 Tera Normal Double-Edge has a roll to OHKO the former, even if Earthquake is better for Tera Ghost variants that do not use Double-Edge. Silk Scarf gives Arceus a consistent damage output to Extreme Speed and Double-Edge that doesn't suffer from the recoil issues of Life Orb, giving Arceus improved longevity while still letting it OHKO offensive Primal Kyogre and Rayquaza with Extreme Speed after a boost. Alternatively, Life Orb maximizes Arceus's offensive capabilities, allowing it to OHKO offensive Eternatus and offensive Ho-Oh after a boost. Unlike Silk Scarf, it improves the power of Shadow Claw as well, notably letting Arceus OHKO Giratina-O and Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM with +2 Tera Ghost Shadow Claw. However, the recoil hinders Arceus's longevity significantly, making it less capable of trading with other offensive threats, since it often faints itself from recoil. Lum Berry can also be considered, since it enables easier setup against Ho-Oh, Alomomola, and Giratina-O. Unfortunately, it is too matchup-dependent, and the drop in power is very noticeable, making Arceus less threatening as a whole. The first EV spread lets Arceus outspeed Adamant Kyurem-B as well as Marshadow and Zacian-C after Sticky Web. The rest is dumped into bulk, notably letting Arceus survive Mega Salamence's boosted Double-Edge from full HP. The second EV spread lets Arceus outspeed Chi-Yu while having enough bulk to survive Primal Kyogre's Origin Pulse and Life Orb Deoxys-A's Psycho Boost from full HP. Tera Normal allows boosted Arceus to OHKO Double Dance Primal Groudon with Extreme Speed after Stealth Rock damage, as well as OHKOing defensive Yveltal and offensive Eternatus. It also empowers Double-Edge, letting it OHKO Zygarde and defensive Primal Groudon at +2 while even having a chance to 2HKO Dondozo. However, it lacks any defensive qualities unlike Tera Ghost and makes Giratina-O and Marshadow more difficult to handle, limiting its use to Sticky Web teams where Marshadow is no longer an issue. Tera Ghost forces Marshadow to play a coinflip between its STAB moves, making Arceus more challenging to punish. It completely shuts down revenge killing attempts from Close Combat Zacian-C, Ditto, and Rayquaza. Offensively, it empowers Shadow Claw, notably letting boosted Arceus OHKO Choice Specs Lunala with Shadow Shield up as well as Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM with Life Orb. Arceus lacks any notable defensive qualities outside of its raw bulk, limiting it just to hyper offense structures that want to capitalize on its fabulous wallbreaking and cleaning abilities. Depending on the moveset, Terastalization option, and opposing team structure, Arceus fluctuates between these two roles. Double-Edge variants of Arceus are more suited to the early- or mid game where it can break through Pokemon such as defensive Ho-Oh and Coil Zygarde for teammates to profit from, especially since its poor longevity makes it difficult to trade with opposing offensive Pokemon or act as a sufficient sweeper. Yveltal is a fantastic partner for Arceus, since it is able to threaten common checks to Arceus, such as Giratina-O, Zygarde, and Ferrothorn, while still being great at breaking past other physical walls such as defensive Primal Groudon and defensive Arceus-Dark. In return, Arceus helps break past specially defensive Pokemon such as Arceus-Fairy, Ho-Oh, and Fezandipiti. They are both capable of overwhelming a shared check in Zacian-C, with other offensive teammates such as Primal Groudon handling that further. Zacian-C itself is a good partner, since it helps Arceus to overwhelm physical walls such as defensive Primal Groudon and Tera Water Zygarde. Zacian-C can help break through Giratina-O, similarly to Yveltal, as well as helping against opposing Arceus and Ditto attempting to revenge kill Arceus. They can both overwhelm a shared check in Necrozma-DM too. Arceus fails to do anything meaningful against stall teams, since both Dondozo and Giratina shut it down with ease. On structures utilizing Sticky Web, Chi-Yu is a fantastic wallbreaker for Arceus, since it notably shreds through stall with its boosted attacks while still beating opposing Ghost-types such as Lunala and Giratina-O. It can even lure in and remove defensive Ho-Oh with +2 Black Hole Eclipse, letting Arceus clean through opposing teams more smoothly. Chi-Yu's fast Taunt helps maintain entry hazards for Arceus too, especially against Giratina-O. Meteor Beam Lunala and Eternatus are very similar when it comes to wallbreaking, letting Arceus clean up better afterwards. Ultra Necrozma appreciates Arceus breaking past both Arceus-Dark and Yveltal, while it can blow through Necrozma-DM and Primal Groudon with Earthquake. Suicide leads such as Deoxys-S and Glimmora provide entry hazards for Arceus to break through teams more easily, notably guaranteeing the OHKO on defensive Primal Groudon with +2 Tera Normal Double-Edge and letting Arceus more reliably OHKO Lunala with Shadow Claw once Shadow Shield is removed. Sticky Web support from Smeargle and Shuckle enables Arceus to outspeed foes such as Marshadow and Zacian-C, that would ordinarily revenge kill it. These leads appreciate Arceus using Taunt to maintain their hazards. It should be noted that, barring Shuckle, they can prevent opposing hazards from going up, improving Arceus's longevity, which is especially important for Life Orb or Double-Edge variants.

Due to its excellent bulk and Normal typing, Arceus is an excellent Trick Room setter. These qualities combined with a Mental Herb make it extremely difficult for threats such as Primal Kyogre, Zacian-C, and even Marshadow to stop Trick Room from being set up. Arceus also serves as a weak but useful revenge killler that can take out extremely chipped threats such as Primal Groudon and Yveltal with Extreme Speed. Taunt prevents slow entry hazard setters such as Ferrothorn and Primal Groudon from setting hazards. It also prevents threats such as Necrozma-DM and, most importantly, Coil Zygarde from setting up or hindering it with Thunder Wave or Glare. In addition, Taunt prevents Ho-Oh from using Whirlwind to cancel Trick Room or from using Defog to remove entry hazards. Extreme Speed allows Arceus to revenge kill any weakened targets that a teammate wasn’t able to finish off such as a defensive Primal Groudon; however, the lack of Attack investment makes Extreme Speed extremely weak, so the move should not be used often. The given EV spread avoids an OHKO from Choice Band Marshadow’s Low Kick and a 2HKO from Life Orb Yveltal’s Dark Pulse. Tera Steel prevents Glimmora and Smeargle from using Mortal Spin to clear entry hazards. Tera Ghost is more niche, allowing Arceus to set Trick Room against Extreme Speed Arceus in an emergency. However, Arceus is a poor user of Terastallization and it should be saved for teammates such as Calyrex-I or Melmetal. Arceus is an excellent Trick Room setter throughout the game thanks to its giant bulk allowing it to set up Trick Room against nearly any unboosted threat. However, it is not to be used as the lead Trick Room setter due to its inability to deny entry hazards from opposing leads such as Deoxys-S, Mental Herb Shuckle, and Mega Diancie. Pokemon that appreciate Trick Room support such as Calyrex-I and Melmetal make excellent teammates for Arceus. They also appreciate Arceus denying Necrozma-DM from using Morning Sun and Zygarde from using Coil and Rest, allowing them to wallbreak past these threats more efficiently. Arceus appreciates additional Trick Room setters to support it in setting Trick Room and preventing entry hazards. Therefore, Hatterene and Cresselia make excellent teammates. Hatterene is able to deny entry hazards from most leads such as Shuckle, Deoxys-S, and Mega Diance, unlike Arceus. Cresselia is also able to restore the PP of teammates with low-PP STAB moves such as Melmetal and Calyrex-I.

Calm Mind Arceus-Water is already a potent sweeper by itself, and with the addition of Refresh, it can be almost impossible to stop once it gets going, beating traditional checks like Giratina-O and Eternatus. The one caveat of this set is its inability to hit Primal Groudon at all, requiring the team to be built around hitting it with Toxic or easily removing it. Furthermore, this set does not forgo Arceus-Water’s defensive utility, as it still checks Necrozma-DM and Ho-Oh, and the set even expands on its utility with the addition of Refresh enabling it to become a status absorber. Calm Mind functions both as a defensive tool and an offensive one, letting Arceus-Water actually pressure Zygarde and Eternatus while also setting itself up for a sweep late-game. Refresh lets Arceus-Water shrug off Toxic from Ho-Oh and Eternatus, utilizing them as setup fodder, and freely pivot into Necrozma-DM without worrying about being statused. The given EV spread with a Timid nature lets Arceus-Water outspeed Modest Palkia-O and offensive Yveltal, allowing it to use Calm Mind or Recover before it can throw off an attack, with the remainder of the EVs dumped in Defense to maximize its defensive utility; this notably lets it avoid the KO from +2 Searing Sunraze Smash from Necrozma-DM after Stealth Rock and +1 Tectonic Rage from Arceus Ground. Tera Fairy gives Arceus-Water a better defensive typing that prevents it from being phazed by Dragon Tail Zygarde and Giratina-O, lets it swtch into non-Sludge Bomb Eternatus better, and prevents it from being forced out by non-Behemoth Blade Zacian-C. As Arceus-Water doesn't require Terastallizing often to sweep, Tera Fairy is mainly used to enhance its defensive role if it is unable to sweep, letting it check Life Orb Yveltal and Marshadow better. Calm Mind + Refresh Arceus-Water should always be paired with a teammate that can either lure or put immense pressure on Primal Groudon. Arceus-Water is best used mid- or late-game, as its defensive utility allows it to stave off threats like Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM and Palkia O, and it can sweep once Primal Groudon is poisoned or removed. If Primal Groudon cannot be removed or hit by Toxic easily, then Arceus-Water can be relegated to a more defensive role throughout the match and absorb status for its teammates safely; in a pinch, it can Tera to check a wider array of threats. Shuca Berry Eternatus is the most notable example, as it lures in Primal Groudon and poisons it, essentially allowing Arceus-Water to set up on it freely and win. Primal Kyogre is also a great partner, as it constantly forces in and pressures Primal Groudon and Eternatus, which can heavily annoy Arceus-Water. Zacian-C functions similarly to wear down Primal Groudon throughout a game or even outright remove it with Tera Blast Ground. Gothitelle is also a notable partner that can trap and remove defensive Primal Groudon lacking Overheat, but it struggles against offensive variants and defensive ones with Overheat. As such, additional support is needed alongside it, such as Toxic Spikes or Dragonium Z Eternatus. Zygarde is also great alongside Arceus-Water, as it checks Primal Groudon consistently while also appreciating Arceus-Water checking Kyogre and offensive Yveltal for it.

Arceus-Water's excellent typing, supplemented by superb natural bulk, is attractive to balance teams looking for a sweeper that also contributes defensively as a switch-in to specially offensive Yveltal, a Pokemon balance teams lacking Arceus-Fairy notoriously struggle with, while also scaring out Ho-Oh. As Judgment, Calm Mind, and Recover are all mandatory, Arceus-Water only has one moveslot left for coverage. Unfortunately, there is no singular move that perfectly complements Judgment, leaving Arceus-Water reliant on teammates to handle certain Pokemon it does not have coverage for. Ice Beam enables Arceus-Water to hit Pokemon that would otherwise wall it such as Mega Salamence, Rayquaza, and Giratina-O while ensuring Primal Groudon does not switch in freely. Alternatively, Earth Power heavily punishes Primal Groudon attempting to freely switch in on Judgment while preventing Arceus-Water from being walled by Water-types such as Primal Kyogre and opposing Arceus-Water. The given EV spread ensures that Arceus-Water outspeeds fully invested neutral-natured base 90 Speed Pokemon such as Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. Furthermore, the high investment in bulk enables Arceus-Water to survive some monstrously powerful attacks including Basculegion's Last Respects after five fainted allies, +3 Zacian-C's Wild Charge, Deoxys-A's Psycho Boost after Stealth Rock, and Tera Flying Choice Band Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent after Stealth Rock and a single layer of Spikes. Additionally, Arceus-Water avoids the 2HKO from Double Dance Primal Groudon's Precipice Blades and Choice Band Marshadow's Low Kick. Though Arceus-Water rarely Terastallizes, it can still effectively utilize its Tera type in a pinch to help flip certain matchups or to facilitate a sweep. Tera Fairy transforms Arceus-Water from a passable to sturdy specially offensive Yveltal check while retaining a stellar defensive typing and becoming a good Marshadow check. Tera Poison is an alternate option that enables Arceus-Water to more consistently sweep bulkier balance teams. The newfound Toxic immunity enables Arceus-Water to switch into Ho-Oh and defensive Eternatus with impunity and use them as setup fodder. Absorbing Eternatus's Toxic Spikes has the added benefit of alleviating pressure on teammates to use Defog. However, Arceus-Water's new weakness to the omnipresent Ground-type attacks from Primal Groudon and Arceus-Ground means that Tera Poison should be used cautiously. Arceus-Water excels against balance and bulky offense teams. It has a strong mid-game presence, as it prevents Ho-Oh, defensive Yveltal, and—if Arceus-Water runs Ice Beam—Giratina-O from freely removing entry hazards. However, Arceus-Water should do so cautiously, as all three commonly run Toxic, which can prevent Arceus-Water from sweeping in the end-game. Arceus-Water lacks the ability to make progress against stall teams and is overwhelmed by hyper offense teams due to a lack of power before boosting. As Arceus-Water has coverage issues regardless of whether it runs Ice Beam or Earth Power, it relies on teammates to fill these gaps. Zygarde is an excellent choice as a blanket physical wall that checks Pokemon such as Primal Groudon, Rayquaza, and Mega Salamence. Zygarde also alleviates pressure on Arceus-Water defensively, which enables it to more consistently sweep. In return, Arceus-Water checks Taunt Arceus-Ground and specially offensive Yveltal, which shut down Zygarde. Ferrothorn is also an excellent teammate due to checking wallbreaker Primal Kyogre, which can easily run through many balance teams, especially if a Timid nature is used. Arceus-Water also appreciates offensive partners such as Choice Band Marshadow and specially offensive Yveltal, which thrive against the hyper offense and stall teams that Arceus-Water struggles with due to their ability to revenge kill Pokemon such as Zacian-C, Mega Salamence, and Ultra Necrozma.

With access to Calm Mind and excellent base 120 stats across the board, Arceus-Water is able to act as a strong bulky setup sweeper. Arceus-Water's good typing allows it to break through defensive staples such as Ho-Oh and Arceus-Ground while dealing great damage to Zygarde. Calm Mind allows Arceus-Water to 2HKO walls like Necrozma-DM and Primal Groudon. Aside from boosting Arceus-Water's Special Attack, it also allows it to turn the tables on some switch-ins that typically check it such as Eternatus and Palkia-O; in conjunction with Recover, it provides Arceus-Water with the longevity needed to continuously take on strong special attacks from foes like Eternatus and offensive Yveltal in order to set up on them. Earth Power enables Arceus-Water to threaten foes that can take Water-type moves, 2HKOing Primal Groudon and Eternatus at +1. Grass Knot can also be used instead of Earth Power to hit heavy Water-types like Primal Kyogre, Palkia-O, and opposing Arceus-Water. Arceus-Water's choice of Tera type is determined by the coverage move it runs. Tera Ground boosts Earth Power to muscle through Primal Groudon and Zacian-C with an OHKO on both at +1 whilst granting it an immunity to Electric-type attacks from Zekrom and Primal Kyogre. Tera Grass is used to power up Grass Knot, and at +1 it has a chance to OHKO Primal Kyogre and deal significant damage to Zygarde whilst resisting its Ground-type STAB moves and the aforementioned Electric-type Arceus-Water best fits on bulky and hyper offense teams that appreciate its great bulk and typing. It is preferable to use Arceus-Water early-game to blow holes into the opposing team's defensive core, as it can easily use Calm Mind on the likes of Ho-Oh and Zygarde and force progress, which is appreciated by teammates such as Necrozma-DM and offensive Primal Groudon. It also has good synergy with the aforementioned teammates, as it helps them beat physical walls like Zygarde and opposing Primal Groudon. Although Arceus-Water has good Special Attack, it struggles to beat special walls such as Chansey, Ferrothorn, and Giratina, so teammates like Primal Groudon, Marshadow, and Zacian-C are appreciated. Fairy-types like Zacian-C help Arceus-Water deal with Dragon-type foes, as it struggles to deal damage to foes such as Ultra Necrozma, Mega Salamence, and Rayquaza. In return, Arceus-Water can beat foes such as Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh for them.

Physical Arceus-Ground is an excellent wallbreaker and sweeper on hyper and bulky offense teams. It easily finds turns to boost due to scaring out common Pokemon such as Primal Groudon and Necrozma-DM. Additionally, physical Arceus-Ground benefits from the presence of the more common defensive and Calm Mind Arceus-Ground sets, as it is able to beat switch-ins expecting to check other Arceus-Ground sets such as Primal Kyogre and Palkia-O. Dragon Dance is Arceus-Ground's primary boosting move. Alternatively, Swords Dance is a viable option, as Sticky Web support enables Arceus-Ground to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame with the exception of specially offensive Yveltal. Arceus-Ground's last moveslot should be tailored to best support its team. On hyper offense teams, Taunt prevents Pokemon such as Giratina-O and Yveltal from removing entry hazards while also protecting Arceus-Ground from status moves. Recover enables Arceus-Ground to perform the defensive duties expected of it on bulky offense teams, such as switching into Primal Groudon multiple times while remaining healthy enough to sweep late-game. Healing Wish is also an option on hyper offense teams to give a teammate such as Zacian-C or Ultra Necrozma a second chance at sweeping. As Ultra Necrozma is a staple on hyper offense teams, Arceus-Ground typically equips an Earth Plate. However, bulky offense teams appreciate Arceus-Ground's ability to OHKO Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM and wallbreaker Primal Kyogre after Stealth Rock with Tectonic Rage. Arceus-Ground's ability to OHKO defensive Primal Groudon and utility Arceus formes with Tectonic Rage after a Swords Dance is appreciated by many Sticky Web teams. The given EV spread maximizes Arceus-Ground's mixed bulk while allowing it to outspeed Primal Groudon and maximize damage output. This ensures that it outspeeds most of the defensive metagame and can revenge kill Pokemon such as Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre. The defensive investment prevents Arceus-Ground from being OHKOed by Necrozma-DM's Searing Sunraze Smash, Life Orb Deoxys-A's Psycho Boost, and after a layer of Spikes, Choice Band Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent, Choice Band Melmetal's Double Iron Bash, and Choice Specs Eternatus's Draco Meteor. Arceus-Ground also survives Tectonic Rage and +1 Tera Ground Earthquake from opposing Arceus-Ground. Tera Ground enables Arceus-Ground to OHKO some targets without a boost, such as Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM after a single layer of Spikes and defensive Primal Groudon after Stealth Rock and a layer of Spikes. Tera Rock is an alternate option to OHKO switch-ins such as Mega Salamence switching in on a Dragon Dance after Stealth Rock with Stone Edge. At +1, Tera Rock Stone Edge OHKOes defensive Yveltal and 2HKOes Giratina-O after Stealth Rock. Tera Rock can also be used defensively to resist common priority move such as Arceus's and Rayquaza's Extreme Speed. On hyper offense teams, Arceus-Ground is best used as a mid-game wallbreaker to remove Pokemon such as Primal Groudon, Ho-Oh, and Necrozma-DM. On bulky offense teams, it is best used early-game due to its positive matchups against both common hazard setters such as Primal Groudon and Defoggers such as Ho-Oh and Yveltal. Arceus-Ground should be kept reasonably healthy, as it is often able to sweep late-game after a boost. It also struggles against stall teams, as it is walled by Dondozo and phazed by Giratina-O, though Taunt is disruptive to many stall teams. Shuckle is a great Sticky Web user to enable Swords Dance Arceus-Ground. Kyurem-B synergizes well with Arceus-Ground, as it is able to break through Dondozo and exploit Tera Grass Ho-Oh, which walls Arceus-Ground. Zacian-C also appreciates Arceus-Ground's efficacy in removing Primal Groudon and Ho-Oh while helping against Arceus-Dark. Specially offensive Yveltal is also a great partner that threatens most of the defensive metagame and dissuades Ditto from using Earthquake after copying Arceus-Ground.
