Heracross and Electric-types such as Raikou and Xurkitree appreciate the pressure that Future Sight exerts on Poison-types such as Galarian Weezing, Roserade, and Nidoqueen, and are good wallbreakers and cleaners with such targets removed. Ground-types such as Nidoqueen and Steelix provide Stealth Rock support and block Volt Switch, which means the opposition cannot easily take advantage of Reuniclus constantly pivoting into their Electric-type special attackers.

Shadow Ball is an alternative for more immediate power when facing Psychic-types such as Celebi and Gardevoir, while also hitting the niche Doublade, which otherwise walls Reuniclus. However, it misses out on Dark-types such as Incineroar. Magic Guard allows Reuniclus to set up without being hindered by status conditions such as poison and burn. Colbur Berry is an alternate item that can be considered over Leftovers to stomach hits from Pangoro and Incineroar so Reuniclus can retaliate with Focus Blast. However, the loss of passive recovery can affect Reuniclus's ability to switch into or set up on certain Pokemon. Spikes or Toxic Spikes support from Pokemon such as Roserade, Heracross, and Galarian Weezing is greatly appreciated, as it helps wear down bulky opposition. Additionally, the former two Pokemon help deal with some of the menacing Electric-types in the tier such as Raikou and Xurkitree, while Galarian Weezing helps deal with pesky physical attackers, such as Heracross and Pangoro. Knock Off support from Pokemon such as Incineroar and Golisopod, especially when coupled with Spikes or Toxic Spikes support, is extremely beneficial thanks to removing Heavy-Duty Boots from Pokemon such as Incineroar and Leftovers from Suicune and bulky Steel-types such as Registeel and Klefki. Diancie also makes for a good partner, as it checks strong special attackers like Chandelure and Nasty Plot Togekiss. It is also able to set Stealth Rock and handle Dark-types such as Incineroar. As Reuniclus can tend to be reliant on its item, whether it be Leftovers or Colbur Berry, Knock Off from Pokemon such as Incineroar and opposing Reuniclus can be a nuisance. Therefore, good Knock Off absorbers such as Galarian Weezing and Rest variants of Suicune complement Reuniclus nicely.

Psychic nails threats like Hippowdon, Amoonguss, and Salamence. Thunder allows Reuniclus to severely threaten Pokemon resistant or immune to Psychic, such as Celesteela, Slowking, and Mandibuzz, whilst also hitting Primarina super effectively. Focus Blast allows Reuniclus to OHKO common Steel- and Dark-types including Excadrill, Hydreigon, and Zarude. Recover increases its longevity to give it more wallbreaking opportunities; Reuniclus can have several opportunities to heal in front of passive walls such as Skarmory and Slowking. Life Orb is used to further bolster its wallbreaking potential, as it suffers none of its drawbacks due to Magic Guard. The given EVs allow Reuniclus to maximize its bulk in order to trade versus threats like Keldeo and Salamence while hitting as hard as possible. It also guarantees that Reuniclus survives Fire Blast from Azelf after a Nasty Plot boost and avoids a 2HKO from Nihilego's Sludge Bomb. Reuniclus fits on bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate its solid offensive profile and coverage that threatens a multitude of Pokemon, like Slowking, Amoonguss, and Skarmory. Cobalion is a solid partner for it, as it can switch into Dark-types like Zarude and Mandibuzz, as well as threaten Chansey. It can also absorb Knock Off and counter Scizor. Hippowdon, Nihilego, Skarmory, and Cobalion are all good entry hazard setters for Reuniclus, as they help wear down threats like Hydreigon, Chansey, and opposing Hippowdon. Magic Guard further boosts this combination by making it immune to entry hazards and residual damage, most notably poison, which would otherwise inhibit its entire function. Stored Power is its primary attack, which scales incredibly over time as Reuniclus gains more stat boosts. However, be wary of using Reuniclus, as with Stored Power being its only attack, it cannot do much in a battle without first having some stat boosts and is left walled by any Dark-type. It is important to take advantage of passive Pokemon that do not threaten Reuniclus at all by using it as an opportunity to set up with either Calm Mind or Iron Defense. As Reuniclus is completely ineffective if there is any Dark-type Pokemon on the opponent's team, it is crucial that Dark-types be eliminated before even attempting to set up with Reuniclus. Therefore, Pokemon such as Hatterene, Gardevoir, and Gallade are all crucial for their STAB Fairy- and Fighting-type attacks to take down opposing Dark-types. Pokemon with Fire-type coverage such as Indeedee also greatly benefit Reuniclus, as they can help take down Steel-types that resist Reuniclus's only attack. Indeedee also provides a Ghost-type immunity, which Reuniclus can struggle to take on before setting up.

Thanks to Regenerator and remarkable natural bulk augmented by Assault Vest, Reuniclus is an amazing special sponge that checks dangerous threats like Nihilego and Psychic-types like Galarian Slowking and Choice Specs Tapu Lele. It can even switch into and scout other Choice Specs users like Kyurem-W and Tapu Koko, shrugging most of the damage off with Regenerator as it switches out to the appropriate teammate. Psyshock is Reuniclus's most reliable attack and used over Psychic to hit foes like Galarian Slowking, Nihilego, and specially defensive Gastrodon harder. Aside from complementing Psyshock to hit physically bulky Pokemon like Zamazenta-C, Urshifu-R, and Tangrowth, Future Sight's delayed damage lets Reuniclus support its wallbreaking teammates like Urshifu-R and Kartana by providing an extra push to their attacks. Knock Off damages the Psychic-types Reuniclus is tasked to check while removing their Life Orb and Choice Specs, making them easier to handle; Knock Off can also cripple common defensive foes like Ferrothorn, Heatran, Slowking, and Tornadus-T. Focus Blast prevents Dark- and Steel-types like Pangoro, Weavile, Alolan Persian, Zamazenta-C, and Kartana from taking advantage of Reuniclus. Assault Vest Reuniclus fits on balance and bulky offense teams that appreciate the defensive capabilities and utility it provides; it is also an excellent candidate for taking a dump stat on stall teams. Since Reuniclus doesn't require any specific stat donation, it can work with gods like Zamazenta-C, Ho-Oh, and Yveltal by taking their dump stat. Due to Reuniclus's reliance on Assault Vest, Knock Off absorbers like Clefable, Tangrowth, Skarmory, and the aforementioned Zamazenta-C are great teammates. Moreover, their physical bulk allows them to check threatening wallbreakers such as Alolan Persian, Zygarde-10%, Pangoro, and Weavile, respectively, which prey on Reuniclus easily; in return, Reuniclus checks special attackers like Tapu Lele, Mewtwo, and Tapu Koko for them. Defoggers like Yveltal and Ho-Oh prevent Reuniclus from being overwhelmed by entry hazards, letting it switch in more freely; furthermore, they deal with prominent threats like Blacephalon and Pheromosa for Reuniclus. Future Sight support from Reuniclus lets wallbreakers like Urshifu-R, Kartana, and Weavile bypass their checks, such as Tangrowth, Tornadus-T, and Buzzwole, respectively.

Even with a Defense donation, Reuniclus can still be overwhelmed by strong physical wallbreakers like Zygarde-10%, Pheromosa, and Rayquaza; teammates like Tangrowth, Clefable, and Skarmory are good choices to cover them. Entry hazard support from Ferrothorn and Skarmory significantly chips foes like Necrozma-DM, Gastrodon, and Victini, either forcing them to use their recovery move PP in longer games or putting them into KO range of Reuniclus. Steel-types like Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Zamazenta-C appreciate Reuniclus switching into Fighting-type attacks from opposing Zamazenta-C and Choice-locked Pheromosa, Urshifu-R, and Buzzwole. The likes of Rotom-W and Heatran can run Toxic to lure in and permanently cripple Gastrodon and Unaware Quagsire, which can stop Reuniclus from setting up with their Clear Smog and Haze, respectively.

Magic Guard alongside Calm Mind and great physical bulk allows Reuniclus to function as an effective wincon. It is able to use common defensive Pokemon such as Toxapex, Ferrothorn, and Corviknight as setup fodder, which is an amazing trait for the balance teams it finds itself on. Focus Blast complements Psyshock nicely, demolishing Pokemon such as Tyranitar, Heatran, and Ferrothorn. Fightinium Z avoids the risk of missing Focus Blast on Tyranitar, Mega Tyranitar, and Taunt Heatran. Alternatively, Stored Power can be utilized alongside Thunder to have a better matchup against stall, as Mega Sableye cannot take a boosted Thunder and Unaware users falter to Stored Power's scaling Base Power. Thunder alongside Electrium Z nails Slowking and Toxapex. Thunder is also able to spread paralysis, but it does not hit Dark-types, which leaves Reuniclus more vulnerable to Pursuit. Magic Guard gives Reuniclus an immunity to entry hazards and sand, making it very difficult to wear down and a great switch-in to Toxapex. 44 Speed allows Reuniclus to outspeed and beat Haze Toxapex. The remaining EVs are placed into Defense with a Bold nature to allow Reuniclus to set up in the face of strong physical attackers such as Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny. Reuniclus appreciates entry hazard support from partners like Clefable, Mega Tyranitar, Ash-Greninja, and Ferrothorn to wear down the few natural checks that it has, such as Weavile, Tyranitar, and Mega Tyranitar. In particular, Reuniclus appreciates Toxic Spikes support from Toxapex to swiftly wear down opposing Pokemon, which allows it to clean up weakened teams late-game. Due to Reuniclus's inability to touch Mega Sableye as well as bad matchup against Aegislash, teammates such as Calm Mind Clefable and Mega Mawile make for solid partners. Reuniclus's Pursuit weakness is also a nuisance, but if paired with Mega Latias, the pair can easily overwhelm opposing Pursuit trappers such as Weavile, Tyranitar, and Mega Tyranitar. Reuniclus can struggle with strong special attackers like Ash-Greninja, Volcarona, and Gengar, especially if it is unboosted. Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Toxapex, Heatran, and Kommo-o can deal with these Pokemon. If running Thunder, Excadrill is a solid teammate, as it takes advantage of Reuniclus's ability to handle Corviknight and Skarmory.

Set Details Fightinium Z with 44 Speed EVs allows Reuniclus to outspeed uninvested Quagsire and gives Reuniclus a chance to beat it after some chip damage. It also allows Reuniclus to grab some initial damage on Scizor, take less damage from Knock Off, remove the drawback of Focus Blast missing, and be immune to Trick. 252 HP and 212 Defense EVs maximize Reuniclus's physical bulk, as Reuniclus is almost always going to have to take a hit before moving. Alternatively, Leftovers provides Reuniclus with passive recovery, which helps its longevity. Magic Guard blocks passive damage caused by Toxic, Leech Seed, and entry hazards, giving Reuniclus better chances at sweeping. Usage Tips Avoid setting up with Reuniclus until late-game; wait until Reuniclus's checks are weakened enough. Focus Blast is best used early- and mid-game to lure certain Dark-type Pokemon, such as Hydreigon and Krookodile that may attempt to switch in to prevent Reuniclus from setting up further. Set up with Reuniclus on passive Pokemon, such as Blissey and Alomomola, attackers and pivots that Reuniclus isn't 2HKOed by, such as Mega Aerodactyl, and Choice-locked Pokemon, such as Infernape and Latias. Be wary of Trick users, such as Latias, as they may shut down Reuniclus by giving it a Choice item if running Leftovers. Team Options Toxic Spikes setters, such as Tentacruel and Nidoqueen, help Reuniclus by wearing down opposing Dark-types, opposing Calm Mind users, and opposing Unaware users. Likewise, other entry hazard users such as Empoleon, Hippowdon, Klefki, and Mega Aggron make great partners to wear down its checks. Fighting-type Pokemon, such as Cobalion and Infernape, make great partners for their ability to reliably check Dark-types for Reuniclus as well as checking non-Superpower Scizor, the former being able to punish it with Rocky Helmet. Pokemon such as Mega Aerodactyl and Gligar check Bug-type Pokemon and thus make for great partners with Reuniclus. Magneton makes for a great partner thanks to its ability to trap troublesome Steel-types like Scizor. Fairy-type Pokemon, such as Mega Altaria and Primarina, work well with Reuniclus because they beat Dark-types that prevent Reuniclus from sweeping. Mega Altaria specifically lures in and removes Scizor with Fire Blast. If Reuniclus is running Focus Blast, Pursuit trappers, such as Krookodile, make great partners because they can trap troublesome Pokemon, such as Gengar and Latias. Wallbreakers like Hydreigon and Terrakion are good partners for Reuniclus, as they help pressure the Psychic ans Steel-types that Reuniclus can have issues breaking through without multiple boosts.

Trick Room takes advantage of Reuniclus's low Speed, drastically helping its matchup against offensive teams. Trick Room enhances Reuniclus's matchup against offensive teams by making it a fearsome wallbreaker that is usually the fastest on the field. Set Details The EV spread focuses on maximizing bulk and power simultaneously. A Quiet nature with 0 Speed IVs makes sure Reuniclus outspeeds Amoonguss and Gyro Ball Doublade while Trick Room is active. Magic Guard ignores recoil from Life Orb and makes Reuniclus immune to residual damage caused by entry hazards, Toxic, and Leech Seed. Usage Tips Usually, send out Reuniclus late-game when all its checks and counters are weakened. Despite its good bulk, it will most likely only get one chance to set up Trick Room against offensive teams. This is why, as it is sent out, it should set up Trick Room as soon as it enters the field. Reuniclus should be setting up Trick Room on Fighting-type Pokemon, such as Cobalion, and passive Pokemon, such as Alomomola and Quagsire. Team Options Entry hazard support is really beneficial for Reuniclus because, after Stealth Rock and one layer of Spikes, it usually 2HKOes Blissey with Focus Blast. Hence, hazard support from the likes of Klefki and Gligar is appreciated. Fairy-type Pokemon, such as Sylveon and Mega Altaria, make for good partners because they cover up Reuniclus's weakness to Dark and Bug. While not necessary, Pokemon that can take advantage of Trick Room, such as Crawdaunt, make good partners. Pivots, such as Mega Manectric and Scizor, can bring in Reuniclus safely with Volt Switch or U-turn. Wallbreakers such as Mamoswine and Terrakion make great partners to remove bulkier Pokemon like Blissey for it to sweep. Mamoswine is also able to revenge kill Latias and Hydreigon that prove to be troublesome for Reuniclus, the latter especially if Trick Room hasn't been set up.

Energy Ball may also be used over Focus Blast to hit Mega Swampert while still doing considerable damage to Mega Tyranitar. Set Details Colbur Berry helps Reuniclus deal with prominent Dark-types such as Weavile and Mega Tyranitar. Life Orb is a viable option that can be used for a more immediate offensive presence if dealing with Dark-types is not necessary. The extra damage output makes a difference in the Calm Mind war against Mega Latias and potentially opposing Reuniclus. 44 Speed EVs allow Reuniclus to outspeed Toxapex, which can otherwise beat it with Haze and its incredible bulk. The rest of the EVs are dumped into Defense to check Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny. It is also useful for some other moves like Earthquake from defensive Landorus-T and various weak U-turns. Usage Tips It is imperative that you play a smart and patient game with Reuniclus. Be absolutely sure to wear down or remove Pokemon like Mega Mawile, Mega Scizor, and Pajantom before attempting to sweep with Reuniclus. You should focus on setting up entry hazards to achieve this early-game. While doing this, it is important to be mindful of Reuniclus's HP because it may have difficulty checking Pokemon like Mega Medicham while tanking weaker physical attacks such as defensive Landorus-T's Earthquake. If given the opportunity, it is wise to try and KO Dark-types such as Weavile and Mega Tyranitar with Focus Blast if Colbur Berry is intact. Removing these Pokemon make sweeping with Reuniclus much easier and more comfortable. Try to use passive Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Toxapex, and Celesteela as setup bait. These Pokemon cannot do much to it and present the perfect opportunity to start setting up and overwhelming the opposition. Team Options Pursuit trappers such as Mega Tyranitar and Weavile are the most popular teammates for Reuniclus because they are capable of weakening or outright removing Psychic-types like Mega Latias, Hoopa-U, and opposing Reuniclus from the game, making it much easier for Reuniclus to sweep. Spikers like Ferrothorn and Arghonaut are also powerful teammates for Reuniclus, as Spikes help wear down foes quickly, putting Reuniclus into a winning position faster. Magnezone is a valuable teammate to trap and KO Mega Scizor, which is oftentimes the only stopgap to Reuniclus for bulky offense teams.

Focus Blast hits Steel-types such as Aggron and Empoleon for super effective damage and threatens Dark-types such as Krookodile, Hydreigon, Absol, and Sharpedo. Signal Beam can be used instead to still gain coverage versus Dark-types, but allows Reuniclus to nail Celebi. Shadow Ball hits opposing Psychic-types such as Slowking and Cresselia for super effective damage, as well as Chandelure and Doublade, the latter of which beats Reuniclus easily otherwise. Thunder Wave can also be used over Focus Blast to cripple some of Reuniclus's checks, such as Hydreigon, Mandibuzz, and Chandelure, although this means it has no way of dealing damage to Dark-types. Set Details Maximum EV investment in HP and Defense along with a Bold nature are used so that Reuniclus can take as many physical attacks as possible, as its Special Defense stat will be boosted by Calm Mind. Magic Guard should always be used, as it prevents Reuniclus from taking passive damage, which is extremely useful, as then it doesn't have to worry about taking entry hazard damage or being worn down by Toxic; this also lets it run Life Orb without taking recoil, making it significantly more powerful, even when unboosted. Leftovers is the primary item, however, as passive recovery makes Reuniclus less reliant on using Recover and lets it focus more on boosting. Usage Tips Reuniclus should usually try to set up Calm Mind after Dark-, Bug-, and Ghost-types have been removed, as they can usually 2HKO Reuniclus even after a boost. However, it should be trying to set up against weak Pokemon that cannot 2HKO it, such as Alomomola and Florges, as it can shrug off their attacks with little trouble thanks to Recover, and Reuniclus usually forces the foe to provide enough offensive pressure to either force it out, 2HKO it, or phaze it. Reuniclus should usually be kept healthy before attempting to set up, as letting it get worn down too quickly without recovering makes it difficult for it to set up. Team Options Pokemon that can switch into Bug- and Dark-type Pokemon, such as Sylveon, Florges, and Aromatisse, are good partners for Reuniclus, as they can tank any hits from them with little trouble, threaten them with a STAB Moonblast, or pass Wishes to Reuniclus if need be. As Reuniclus forces out a lot of defensive Pokemon, entry hazard support is appreciated. Spikes in particular helps Reuniclus set up a sweep, as most of its checks and counters are grounded and get worn down by entry hazard damage. Chesnaught pairs well with Reuniclus, as it can reliably set up Spikes and can sponge Dark-type attacks aimed at Reuniclus. Due to the fact that Reuniclus can set up on many walls found on balanced or stall teams, late-game cleaners that do well against offense, such as Choice Scarf Mienshao, Swords Dance Lucario, and Dragon Dance Feraligatr, are all good partners for Reuniclus. Mienshao and Lucario also aid Reuniclus in sweeping by checking Dark-types.

Moves Trick Room is a valuable tool against offensive teams, as it turns Reuniclus into a powerful late-game cleaner, making it the fastest Pokemon on the field in some cases. Psyshock is the primary STAB attack and is used to hit special walls such as Florges and Blissey for more damage than Psychic. Psychic has more overall power than Psyshock and hits physical walls such as Rhyperior for more damage. Focus Blast is used to hit Dark- and Steel-types such as Krookodile, Hydreigon, and Mega Aggron, OHKOing the former two and 2HKOing the latter. Signal Beam loses coverage on Steel-types, but allows Reuniclus to take down Celebi with ease. Shadow Ball is used to hit other Psychic-types such as opposing Reuniclus, Slowking, and Cresselia for super effective damage, along with Chandelure. Set Details The given EV spread is used so that Reuniclus can maximize its bulk and power, while having a Quiet nature and 0 Speed IVs allows it to outspeed nearly everything in Trick Room. Life Orb is used to boost Reuniclus's power without taking recoil thanks to Magic Guard. Usage Tips It's usually best for Reuniclus to set up Trick Room late-game when most of its checks have been removed or weakened, as despite its good bulk, it will usually only get one chance to set up Trick Room and use it effectively against offensive teams. Because of this, it should also set up Trick Room as soon as it comes into the field. Unlike other Trick Room setters, such as Cresselia or Bronzong, it is best used to take advantage of Trick Room by itself due to its offensive nature. Team Options Entry hazard support is appreciated to weaken foes for Reuniclus when it sets up Trick Room, so partners such as Forretress, Swampert, Chesnaught, and Dragalge work well with it. While it isn't mandatory in most cases, having other Pokemon that can take advantage of Trick Room, such as Mega Abomasnow, Mega Camerupt, Choice Band Snorlax, and Escavalier, is appreciated, as they can punch holes into defensive teams if brought in safely and can also potentially clean in Trick Room. If Reuniclus is run on a balanced team, having Pokemon that can repeatedly switch into and threaten Dark- and Bug-types such as Heracross, Krookodile, and Mega Absol help it a lot. Sylveon, Florges, and Aromatisse are very good partners, as they can switch into all of the aforementioned Pokemon and pass Wishes to Reuniclus if necessary. Aromatisse can also set up Trick Room if Reuniclus is able to clean late-game but cannot find the opportunity to set up Trick Room itself.

Moves Trick Room allows Reuniclus and other slow teammates to move first in most situations. Psychic is preferred for its higher power, while Psyshock can be used to hit special walls much harder. Helping Hand is a support move that increases the power of an ally's move by 50%. The last moveslot can be used for more coverage in the form of Shadow Ball or for one of the screen moves, which help Reuniclus and allies take hits better. The choice of screen depends on your team's needs. Set Details The given EV spread balances Reuniclus's defenses so it can survive common attacks such as Tyranitar's Crunch and Aegislash's Shadow Ball and proceed to set up Trick Room. Sitrus Berry is the common choice for a recovery item in a fast-paced metagame such as VGC. Mental Herb can be used to stop moves such as Taunt and Encore and guarantee that Trick Room will be set up. Magic Guard keeps Reuniclus safe from any residual damage while Overcoat keeps it safe from Amoonguss's Spore and Venusaur's Sleep Powder. Usage Tips Remember that Helping Hand has increased priority; it doesn't need Trick Room to go up first. Also, if Reuniclus is running Reflect or Light Screen, set up Trick Room before either of those; in most circumstances, Reuniclus's partner probably will benefit more from Trick Room than they would from a screen whose duration is not boosted by Light Clay. Team Options Any slow Pokemon can benefit from Reuniclus's Trick Room. Frailer Pokemon could be used as teammates, as a screen helps mitigate their frailty. A teammate that can take care of Dark-types, such as Scrafty or Azumarill, is a necessity. Aromatisse is a good teammate, as its ability protects Reuniclus from Taunt and it takes advantage of Trick Room's effects.

Moves Trick Room allows Reuniclus to outspeed most threats while active. It can also benefit a slow ally. Psychic is the main STAB move because it has higher power than Psyshock and hits both Amoonguss and Mega Venusaur hard. Energy Ball hits Rotom-W, Azumarill, and Tyranitar, though Reuniclus is usually going to lose to the latter. Protect fills in the last moveslot because it's simply a great asset in VGC, as it helps scout the opponent as well as protect Reuniclus from any attack. Set Details The given EV spread gives more balance to Reuniclus's overall bulk than 252 HP EVs could. The remaining EVs are used to maximize Reuniclus's power. Life Orb increases its damage output even further, while Magic Guard negates Life Orb recoil and any other residual damage, such as that inflicted by sandstorm, whereas Overcoat still avoids sandstorm damage while making Amoonguss's Spore and Venusaur's Sleep Powder useless. The given nature and IVs guarantee that Reuniclus is as slow as possible. Usage Tips As Trick Room is the most important aspect of this set, use it as soon as Reuniclus gets into battle. This Reuniclus is designed to wallbreak; it's not a sweeper, so don't let it take unnecessary hits and get KOed. This set requires team support to work well, as many common threats in VGC14 easily deal with Reuniclus. You can also send Reuniclus into battle after all Taunt users have been KOed or put under too much pressure to use it. Also, when needed, use Protect on the first turn so Reuniclus won't be hit by Fake Out. Switch Reuniclus in against moves such as Leech Seed, as switching Reuniclus in is simply too difficult otherwise. Team Options The first thing you should think of when considering a teammate for Reuniclus is a slow Pokemon, such as Amoonguss, Azumarill, or Mega Mawile. Fighting-types such as Scrafty are great teammates because they threaten the Dark-types that threaten Reuniclus. Scrafty also has Intimidate and Quick Guard, so it can lessen the damage output of Fake Out, or totally stop it, and Scrafty itself has Fake Out as well, stopping any potential Taunt user from hindering Reuniclus. Azumarill and Mega Mawile can also beat Dark-types. Another Trick Room setter is a good idea for a partner; Aromatisse is a good option, as its Aroma Veil prevents Reuniclus from being Taunted.

Trick Room is the basis of this set, allowing Reuniclus to outspeed almost everything on the field. Coming from a base 125 Special Attack, Psychic is Reuniclus's STAB attack, and with a Life Orb boost, will do major damage to anything that doesn't resist it. Shadow Ball and Focus Blast complement its coverage, letting it hit everything for at least neutral damage while nabbing key KOs on many common Pokemon, such as Chandelure and Hydreigon. The EVs maximize Reuniclus's Special Attack, allowing it to become an offensive force, while preserving its decent bulk. Additionally, with this investment, Reuniclus can survive Timid Volcarona's Bug Buzz, Modest Chople Berry Hydreigon's Dark Pulse, and Quiet Chandelure's Shadow Ball, as well as a +4 Terrakion's Rock Slide, making it an excellent check to the vaunted Beat Up Whimsicott-Terrakion combination. Lastly, the EVs allow Reuniclus to survive Landorus's Earthquake and Thundurus's Discharge, so that it can set up Trick Room on the turn they attack and hit them hard on the next. Psyshock can work over Psychic, allowing Reuniclus to hit hard on the physical side as well. This helps against Jellicent and Volcarona, doing much more damage than Shadow Ball or Psychic would. Psychic is generally the better choice, though, as it hits harder overall. Protect is always useful in VGC play, and considering the shaky accuracy of Focus Blast, may be more useful if Reuniclus is paired with a Fighting-type, such as Conkeldurr or Scrafty, which can hit hard with its STAB attacks. Conkeldurr makes an excellent teammate with its massive Attack stat; with Mach Punch, it can take out the Sucker Punch users which tend to trouble Reuniclus, and its powerful multi-target hitting Rock Slide can OHKO Chandelure and Volcarona, both of whom can easily take out Reuniclus. Mienshao makes another good partner, as it can Taunt Chandelure to stop it from using Imprison, which would prevent Trick Room from being set up, while its Fake Out can give Reuniclus a free turn to set up Trick Room. Mienshao also packs powerful Fighting-type moves to easily OHKO the Dark-types that can give Reuniclus trouble. Any user of a spread attack will help Reuniclus considerably; although it hits hard, it doesn't have super effective coverage on some common VGC 2011 Pokemon, and a user of Rock Slide, Heat Wave, or Blizzard can help to complete KOs against Pokemon such as the genie trio.

Trick Room is the most important aspect of this set, as Speed is one of the most important factors in the VGC metagame, something Trick Room easily takes advantage of. Psychic is Reuniclus's most powerful attack, able to put a dent in anything that doesn't resist it. Psyshock is a slightly weaker move, but it hits specially bulky Pokemon such as Amoonguss harder. Focus Blast provides the necessary coverage on Tyranitar and other Dark-types, as well as most Steel-types, although more common Steel-types such as Metagross only take neutral damage from it. Lastly Shadow Ball provides coverage on other Psychic types, notably Latios and Cresselia, although Reuniclus will be hard-pressed to beat either on its own. For this reason, Protect is a viable alternative, allowing Reuniclus to scout the opponent's moveset or build up residual damage if sand or hail is out. The EV spread provides Reuniclus with nice overall bulk, helping it to survive attacks it might fall to with a simple 252 HP spread. Magic Guard makes Life Orb an ideal hold item, as Reuniclus can make better use of the one allowed per team than most other Pokemon. However, Life Orb sometimes falls short in power, so a Psychic Gem is also an option, notably allowing Reuniclus to OHKO Thundurus or Tornadus with a boosted Psychic. Mental Herb can prevent Taunt from foiling Reuniclus's attempt to set up, but it is often put to better use on a bulkier user of Trick Room, such as Cresselia or Musharna. Thunder is an option if Reuniclus is paired with Politioed, as it hits most Steel-types with the same amount of power as Focus Blast and, while it is raining, does not suffer from the same accuracy issues. Dark-types are the biggest threat to Reuniclus: Tyranitar and Scrafty in particular, the latter of which can disrupt Reuniclus's first-turn attempt to set up Trick Room through Fake Out. Reuniclus itself threatens Fighting-types, so the same Pokemon that threaten Reuniclus make great partners for it. Scrafty is a deadly Trick Room sweeper thanks to Moxie, and also makes setting the field condition up easier thanks to Fake Out. Tyranitar effortlessly disposes of Latios and Cresselia and also benefits from Trick Room, especially Iron Ball Fling variants. Reuniclus does not mind the sand Tyranitar brings either. Pairing Reuniclus with another Trick Room user can help to extend the duration of Trick Room, as if both Reuniclus and its teammate successfully use it on the same turn, Trick Room will first be deactivated, then reactivated, resetting the turn counter to five. Reuniclus can also be fit onto a faster team in order to steal back momentum from very fast Pokemon, such as Swift Swim Kingdra. It can be dead weight if its remaining teammates are faster than their opponents, however.

This is Reuniclus's bread-and-butter set, and is great at taking on defensive teams. Thanks to Magic Guard, defensive Pokemon are forced to attack Reuniclus to damage it. With this EV spread, Reuniclus is very bulky on the physical side, while Calm Mind will boost its Special Defense, making Reuniclus hard to take down. Recover adds to this, as Reuniclus can just heal off damage taken whenever it gets low on health. Because of this, Reuniclus can set up on almost anything commonly found on stall teams, and without a proper counter, it will easily take them down single-handedly. Psychic is Reuniclus's best STAB move, as after several boosts, it hits anything that doesn't resist it very hard. Psyshock is a decent option to use instead of Psychic, as it lets it beat Calm Mind Latias, as well as other Reuniclus, but Psychic is usually the better choice as Reuniclus beats Blissey and Chansey even with Psychic. Focus Blast is the best option in the last slot as it provides good coverage with Psychic. The choice of item depends on your preference. Leftovers is the main choice as it provides more longevity, and most importantly allows Reuniclus to avoid the 2HKO from support Tyranitar. Life Orb is also a good option as it provides a recoil-free boost to Reuniclus's attacks thanks to Magic Guard. 32 EVs are invested in Special Attack, as this lets Reuniclus KO Chandelure after one Calm Mind as well as Stealth Rock damage. This means that if Chandelure tries to trap Reuniclus, it will cost it its life since even a Choice Specs-boosted Shadow Ball won't KO Reuniclus after one Calm Mind. The rest of the EVs are used to maximize Reuniclus's physical bulk so that it can take hits from the likes of Ferrothorn and Gliscor. Choice Band Scizor is a major threat to this set, as it can take a boosted Focus Blast and deal heavy damage with U-turn, allowing a faster teammate to take Reuniclus out with ease. In the same vein, specially defensive Jirachi can sponge Reuniclus's boosted attacks easily, paralyze it, and wear it down with Iron Head. Chandelure is thus an excellent Pokemon to pair with Reuniclus, as it can trap and take out Steel- and Psychic-types who trouble Reuniclus with its STAB attacks. However, Chandelure and Reuniclus do share a weakness to Ghost- and Dark-type attacks, so it is recommended you use something that resists those types, such as Tyranitar or Heatran.

This set exchanges the ability to beat defensive teams easily for a way of threatening fast offensive teams. Reuniclus has incredibly low Speed and high Special Attack, which makes Trick Room an excellent option. In Trick Room, Reuniclus is "outsped" only by Ferrothorn, and as such, offensive teams that rely on Speed to function will have problems with this set. This set is meant to come in on something that doesn't threaten it, such as Conkeldurr or Espeon, and set up Trick Room. Reuniclus can then fire off powerful Life Orb-boosted attacks without taking any recoil. Psychic is Reuniclus's obligatory powerful STAB attack, hitting almost anything hard that doesn't resist it. Psyshock is also a decent option though, as it lets Reuniclus 2HKO Blissey, but it doesn't have much use other than that and Psychic hits almost everything for more damage. Focus Blast provides coverage, hitting Dark- and Steel-types such as Tyranitar and Excadrill super effectively. The choice of move in the last slot can be a tough one. Hidden Power Fire OHKOes Genesect and Scizor, who otherwise force Reuniclus out by threatening it with a powerful U-turn. Shadow Ball, on the other hand, hits opposing Psychic-types such as Latios and Alakazam, as well as bulky Ghost-types such as Jellicent. If you use Hidden Power Fire, it is advised that you use Tyranitar or Scizor to trap those Psychic- and Ghost-types. This set does have trouble with Chansey and Blissey, as well as Jirachi; they are able to stall out Trick Room turns with Wish and Protect while not being 2HKOed by any of Reuniclus's moves (though Blissey must watch out for Psyshock), and can take down Reuniclus slowly with Seismic Toss or Iron Head. Scizor and Genesect can be tough to handle if Reuniclus doesn't have Hidden Power Fire, as they can take a Focus Blast at full health and KO with U-turn or Bug Buzz, respectively. When using Reuniclus on a dedicated Trick Room team, Jellicent makes for a good partner who can also set up Trick Room, as it isn't threatened by any of the moves Scizor, Genesect, or Jirachi commonly carry, and can also fire off a powerful STAB Water Spout under Trick Room. Conkeldurr is another good partner as it can beat Blissey and Chansey easily, while also covering the Dark-type weakness Reuniclus and Jellicent share.
