Analyse

Set Details Draco Meteor allows Noivern to dent naturally bulky Pokemon such as Slowbro and Hippowdon even without Special Attack investment. Hurricane can be used over Draco Meteor; however, it is less reliable and doesn't threaten Cyclizar as much. Super Fang allows Noivern to make incredible progress against common switch-ins like Jirachi and Registeel. Taunt allows that damage to stick, preventing recovery attempts from Pokemon such as Empoleon and Umbreon while also preventing Thunder Wave from the likes of Slowbro. Defog provides excellent team support, preventing teammates from being chipped by entry hazards. Psychic Noise prevents any form of recovery and does decent damage to Pokemon such as Gastrodon and Volcanion, though it notably fails against Umbreon. Roost allows Noivern to stay healthy throughout a game to make more progress with a combination of Super Fang and Taunt or Psychic Noise. Tera Steel turns Noivern's Fairy-type weakness into a resistance, allowing it to check threats such as Gardevoir and Cresselia. Tera Fairy gives it a Dark-type resistance and a Dragon-type immunity, allowing it to emergency check threats such as Choice Scarf Krookodile and Choice-locked Hisuian Goodra in a pinch. Tera Water allows Noivern to check Mamoswine and Alolan Ninetales as well, while retaining the ability to check Fire- and Water-types such as Volcanion and Barraskewda. Noivern fits well on balance and bulky offense teams, working as a crucial defensive piece and checking Pokemon like Volcanion. It loves partnering with entry hazard setters such as Hippowdon, Krookodile, Chesnaught, and Quagsire to further suffocate foes with Taunt or Psychic Noise. Noivern also partners well with Reuniclus, as they form a tough Fighting-resistant core that wears the opponent down with entry hazards and Psychic Noise. It also loves partnering with Steel-type Pokemon such as Jirachi and Registeel, checking common Fire- and Fighting- types like Volcanion and Mienshao for them, while they cover its Ice and Fairy weaknesses. Choice Scarf users like Gardevoir, Krookodile, and Galarian Zapdos enjoy Noivern's ability to chip the opposition so that they can clean up with ease. Fighting-types like Mienshao and Galarian Zapdos enjoy Noivern's ability to batter away at Fighting-resistant foes like Gardevoir. Similarly, special attackers like Armarouge and Gengar really enjoy Taunt Noivern's ability to shut down Umbreon. Rotom-H and Slowbro are great teammates that check Mamoswine, one of the biggest threats to Noivern.

Analyse

Set Details Draco Meteor provides Noivern with tremendous breaking power, though it does allow Fairy-types such as Gardevoir safe entry points against it; alternatively, Hurricane can be used to hit these Fairy-types, though they are quite scarce and it comes at the cost of less immediate power and unreliable accuracy. Flamethrower melts the pesky Steel-types that resist Noivern's STAB attacks, like Jirachi, Magnezone, and Registeel. U-turn can be used to form VoltTurn cores and provide safe pivots into teammates like Galarian Zapdos; Taunt is an alternative move that can stop setup attempts from Pokemon like Reuniclus and Slowbro, recovery attempts, and entry hazard stacking from walls like Gastrodon and Hippowdon. Roost gives Noivern the longevity needed to stick around and dish out damage while checking big threats like Basculegion-F and Volcanion. Frisk can be used to scout for items, such as Choice items on Pokemon like Mamoswine and Gengar. Infiltrator allows Noivern to hit Pokemon that use Substitute, such as Raikou and Suicune, to prevent them from using Calm Mind freely. Tera Steel can be used to flip the weakness to Dragon, which helps against Hisuian Goodra and opposing Noivern, while providing valuable resistances to Fairy-type attacks from Gardevoir and Cresselia. Tera Fire also provides a Fairy resistance and can bolster the damage of Flamethrower, allowing Noivern to break through Jirachi and Magnezone more effectively. Tera Fairy provides a Dragon immunity, which helps against Cyclizar and opposing Noivern, while maintaining the Bug and Fighting resistances to still check Mienshao. Tera Fairy also provides a key resistance to Dark-type attacks like Knock Off and Sucker Punch, making matchups into Bisharp and Krookodile more comfortable. Tera Water is a fine pick for Noivern, as it maintains the Fire and Water resistances to check Volcanion while providing an Ice resistance to more effectively deal with Mamoswine. Offensive pivot Noivern is a great choice on balance and bulky offense teams that need to shore up their matchups into one of the biggest threats in the tier, Volcanion. Teammates like Talonflame are much appreciated, as they can provide entry hazard removal and check physical attackers like Bisharp and Galarian Zapdos, threatening to burn either with Flame Body or Will-O-Wisp. In return, Noivern can check Volcanion for Talonflame. Physical wallbreakers that can use the safe entry points provided by U-turn Noivern, such as Crawdaunt and Mamoswine, are valuable to help break through walls such as Chansey and Hisuian Goodra, making Noivern more imposing with its own strong attacks. Noivern appreciates its own hazard support from teammates like Hippowdon and Jirachi, which can help rack up chip damage while Noivern uses either U-turn to pivot between teammates or Taunt to prevent recovery. Noivern is a great member of VoltTurn cores, partnering with powerful wallbreakers like Magnezone and Mienshao to keep the opposition from getting comfortable. Steel-type teammates like Empoleon, Jirachi, and Registeel are valuable to check Dragon- and Fairy-types that can threaten Noivern, like Hisuian Goodra, Alolan Ninetales, and Gardevoir.
