Analyse
Appletun is a Choice Specs wallbreaker that cleanly OHKOes a great spectrum of the metagame, including fast Miltank, Tangela, Rhydon, and Gurdurr. Dragon Pulse is a no-drawback alternative to Draco Meteor that allows Appletun to still nail switch-ins without being locked into the momentum-draining Draco Meteor long-term. Recover gives Appletun invaluable longevity at the cost of momentum; it also works well versus Knock Off users like Tangela and Thwackey. Thick Fat is the ability of choice, allowing Appletun to take weak Ice-type moves like Silvally's Ice Beam while assisting it in dealing with Fire-type attackers like Rapidash and Ninetales more easily. Choice Specs Appletun puts out phenomenal offensive pressure and can switch into Pokemon that it resists common attacks from with ease such as Rhydon, Galarian Stunfisk, Kabutops, Palossand, and Raichu. VoltTurn users like the Silvally formes, Rotom, and Uxie all make for useful teammates, creating momentum and giving Appletun easy entry onto the field. Physical wallbreakers like Klinklang, Sawk, and Rhydon that can threaten the special walls Appletun struggles with like Articuno and Clefairy are also invaluable for its team. In turn, Appletun threatens out physically defensive staples like Palossand, Rhydon, Miltank, and Altaria.
