Analysis

This set attempts to PP or Toxic stall the foe thanks to Wailord's access to Pressure, Noble Roar, and Block. However, such a set is quite easily played around thanks to Wailord's lacking bulk, the popularity of VoltTurn users that can escape Block such as Articuno, Thwackey, and Silvally formes, and Wailord's ability to be used as setup fodder because it is reliant on Rest. Even a trapping set like this one is massively outperformed by Pyukumuku, which has reliable recovery in Recover, better defenses, and a better ability in Unaware making it less likely to be setup fodder. Other bulky Water-types such as Qwilfish, Poliwrath, and Silvally-Water are better uses of a teamslot thanks to their better overall utility and defensive presence.
