Uxie Movesets & Competitive Sets

Uxie finds a spot in Electric Terrain teams as a Calm Mind sweeper. Stored Power has insane power after Calm Mind and Electric Seed, letting Uxie break through bulkier foes like Articuno and Pyukumuku. Draining Kiss lets Uxie threaten Dark-types like Thievul and Silvally-Dark. Rest is Uxie's best form of recovery, also letting it deal with status from special walls like Articuno lacking Haze and Clefairy. The given spread allows Uxie to outspeed Timid Exeggutor. Pincurchin is a necessary partner for Electric Surge. Other Electric Seed sweepers like Musharna, Swoobat, Drifblim, and Galarian Rapidash can weaken shared checks, forming a Calm Mind spam core. Electric-types like Raichu and Manectric also appreciate Electric Terrain and can break through special walls, making it easier for Uxie and the other Calm Mind users. In return, Uxie can set up on Ground-types that wall Raichu and Manectric thanks to Levitate.

Uxie can act as a terrifying late-game cleaner with its Nasty Plot set. Substitute lets it avoid status such as Toxic from Articuno and Altaria, dodge Knock Off from Tangela and Clefairy, and sponge hits from weak attackers like Clefairy lacking Seismic Toss and Stunfisk. Psyshock is preferred over Psychic as a STAB move to get around special walls like Articuno and Clefairy more easily. Draining Kiss lets Uxie break through Dark-types like Thievul and Morpeko after a boost and provides coveted recovery. Uxie is a great late-game cleaner for bulkier teams that can weaken its checks over time. Therefore, entry hazard support, especially Spikes from setters such as Coalossal and Qwilfish, is invaluable. Knock Off support is similarly valuable for removing Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers, the latter being the only form of recovery of Steel-types that check Uxie like Klinklang. Toxic users such as Altaria and Rapidash cripple the likes of Haze Articuno, Alcremie, and Musharna to help Uxie break through them. Uxie can also fit well with other defensive sweepers like Spiritomb and Alcremie, weakening each other’s checks and forcing Trick uses to ensure one of them can sweep.

Thanks to its great bulk and higher Speed than common Taunt users such as Skuntank, Qwilfish, and Sawk, Uxie is capable of reliably setting sun and Stealth Rock several times. U-turn brings sun attackers safely onto the field. Yawn forces out foes that would attempt to set up on Uxie such as Skuntank and Ninetales, which works well with Uxie's fast U-turn. Memento can alternatively be used to provide similar opportunities to Yawn and U-turn in one turn at the cost of sacrificing Uxie. Sun sweepers such as Shiftry, Leafeon, Ivysaur, and Rapidash love Uxie's ability to reliably set sun. Prankster Liepard is a reliable secondary weather setter to support the team. An offensive sun setter such as Exeggutor creates more opportunities to set it up.

Uxie's great Speed and amazing bulk make it a great supporter for offensive teams, being able to set Stealth Rock and then cripple the opposing Pokemon with Memento, Encore, or Yawn, giving switching and setup opportunities to teammates. Since this set isn't running any offensive move, Mental Herb is the preferred item to not get completely invalidated by Taunt users like Skuntank, Golbat, and Alolan Persian. Setup spam offense teams really enjoy Uxie's role compression, creating setup opportunities and providing Stealth Rock. Therefore, offensive setup users like Crustle, Klinklang, and Silvally formes make for great partners. Pokemon that can advantage of Taunt users that Uxie invites in, such as Alcremie, Double Dance Rhydon, and Rotom-S, are appreciated. Gourgeist-S can prevent Rapid Spin attempts, while Taunt users like Skuntank and Qwilfish deny Defog.

Uxie is a premier defensive pivot in VoltTurn teams due to its incredible role compression as the only viable Pokemon with both U-turn and Stealth Rock. Additionally, Uxie's incredible bulk lets it reliably check threats like Sawk and Silvally-Poison. Levitate also helps in that regard, avoiding chip damage from Spikes and giving it switch-in opportunities on Rhydon and Piloswine. Yawn allows Uxie to avoid being setup fodder and force out entry hazard removers like Altaria, Articuno, and Coalossal and therefore keep Stealth Rock up. Knock Off lets Uxie remove important items like Heavy-Duty Boots from Articuno, Cramorant, and Altaria and Eviolite from Piloswine, Rhydon, and Tangela. Future Sight lets Uxie's partners threaten their checks with the extra, delayed damage. Colbur Berry allows Uxie to counter Fighting-types such as Sawk and Gurdurr by weakening their Knock Off; it also lets Uxie take a hit from strong Dark-type wallbreakers such as Thievul, Silvally-Dark, and Shiftry and pivot out with a super effective U-turn. Uxie can form a VoltTurn core with other pivots such as Alolan Persian, Rotom, and Silvally formes. Such cores are beneficial to wallbreakers that prefer safe switches like Silvally formes, Thievul, and Sawk. Dark-types like Silvally-Dark and Skuntank value Uxie's ability to wall Fighting-types like Sawk and can, in return, threaten Ghost-types like Gourgeist-S and Rotom. Physical wallbreakers like Kangaskhan and Silvally formes appreciate Future Sight threatening physical walls such as Miltank, Qwilfish, and Tangela. Uxie lacks recovery and gets quickly worn down by Toxic; other walls like Clefairy and Qwilfish can absorb status and take attacks that Uxie can't afford to take. Clefairy also has Aromatherapy to cure Uxie of any status. Pokemon like Poliwrath and Jynx pressure hazard removers like Coalossal, Articuno, and Altaria, helping keep up Uxie's Stealth Rock.

With its great bulk and access to both Trick Room and Stealth Rock, Uxie makes an ideal lead for Trick Room teams that can get both moves off, most of the time. Memento lets a teammate safely come in and take advantage of the remaining Trick Room turns. Knock Off gives Uxie an offensive move and breaks the Substitute of Rotom, which can be a huge threat to Trick Room teams. Magic Coat is an option to improve the matchup against Taunt and Encore users like Alolan Persian, Qwilfish, and Liepard, which can disrupt Uxie. Mental Herb is the preferred item, offering the same utility as Magic Coat without requiring using a move, while Red Card can force out attackers that would 2HKO Uxie like Silvally-Dark and Rotom. This set only fits on full Trick room teams, so other Trick Room setters like Gourgeist-XL, Exeggutor, and Beheeyem make for great partners. Likewise, slow and powerful attackers such as Bouffalant, Pincurchin, and Rhydon make for great partners that take advantage of Trick Room, outspeeding the opposing team.

Moves Yawn forces switches against most Pokemon, and combined with U-turn or Memento, it will often give you the upper hand. Even if the opposing Pokemon stays in, you can use this opportunity to set up or KO it. Yawn also prevents Uxie from being setup fodder to dangerous Pokemon such as Barbaracle and makes it a great emergency check to Pokemon that have already set up, like a +2 Pangoro and +1 Raikou. It also takes advantage of Uxie's Stealth Rock, as the opponent will be constantly switching. Memento is useful on offensive teams with teammates that appreciate easy setup, like Barbaracle and Zygarde-10%, although it should only be used once their checks have been whittled down. Knock Off is a useful support move to remove key items such as Registeel's Leftovers. If running Knock Off, Uxie should run Zen Headbutt in conjunction with a Jolly nature. Thunder Wave can be used over Yawn to slow down threats immediately. However, slower threats like Escavalier, Alolan Marowak, and Diancie tend to not mind paralysis as much, and it is much less effective against Electric- and Ground-types, like Raikou and Flygon. Most importantly, though, Thunder Wave cannot force as many switches as Yawn. Set Details Wiki Berry provides a burst of recovery once Uxie's HP drops below 25%. This is useful because Uxie will often be switching into attacks and taking Stealth Rock damage. The 50% recovery drastically improves its longevity and helps it check Pokemon like Medicham throughout the game. Alternatively, Colbur Berry can serve as a safety net against Knock Off and Pursuit users like Escavalier. However, Uxie does not appreciate not having any recovery to speak of. The given EV spread has enough Speed investment to outspeed Roserade with the remainder put in Defense. However, there are many other EV spreads that Uxie can use to support specific teams. If Roserade is not an issue, it can run 176 EVs to outspeed Toxicroak. Other important speed benchmarks include Timid and Modest Nidoqueen, Medicham, Adamant Honchkrow, and TauntTox Mandibuzz. Special Defense investment can also be used if Uxie's primary goal is to check Poison-types such as Nidoqueen rather than Fighting-types. Levitate is Uxie's only ability, and it helps Uxie switch into Ground-types like Flygon with ease. Usage Tips Prioritize setting up Stealth Rock early-game. Because Uxie forces many switches, the earlier you can set it, the more damage will rack up on the opposing Pokemon. Due to Uxie's access to U-turn and solid matchup against opposing Stealth Rock users, it can function as a consistent lead. Later, Uxie can function as a pivot by switching into moves it resists. Its high bulk can also let it sponge neutral and even some weak super effective attacks, but remember that Uxie has no reliable recovery, so this should be avoided unless Uxie has done its job and isn't necessary anymore. At this point, Uxie can start to disrupt the opponent's momentum with Yawn and U-turn. Try to predict if the opponent will switch to a Dark-type or Pursuit trapper like Drapion and escape the situation by using U-turn. Alternatively, if running Colbur Berry, Uxie can surprise Pursuit trappers by staying in and using Yawn, forcing them into a mind game with an upper hand. Yawn should be used to force switches and cripple setup sweepers, forcing them to forgo their boosts or stay in and fall asleep. However, you shouldn't spam Yawn, as the opponent might just use one of their Pokemon as sleep fodder and make Uxie a lot less threatening. Team Options Setup sweepers, like Dragon Dance Zygarde, Barbaracle, and Slurpuff, appreciate Uxie's ability to bait in passive Pokemon, disrupt momentum, set up Stealth Rock, and grant setup opportunities. Additionally, these Pokemon can set up on Pokemon locked into Pursuit, like Drapion and Escavalier, and help patch up Uxie's passive nature. Fairy-types like Florges and Slurpuff and Fighting-types like Virizion and Bewear can beat the Dark-types Uxie struggles with and switch into some Bug-types like Golisopod. Entry hazard setters such as Roserade, Mega Glalie, and Golisopod benefit from Uxie's ability to force switches, racking up substantial damage on the opposing Pokemon. Other U-turn or Volt Switch users, like Flygon and Raikou, can form a VoltTurn core with Uxie. Frail wallbreakers such as Medicham, Roserade, and Swellow, appreciate the slow U-turn support for a free switch in.

Moves Trick Room grants Uxie and its teammates a form of speed control and a way of punishing offensive teams by making slower Pokemon move before faster ones. Stealth Rock is a necessity on every team, punishing switches by damaging foes. Memento allows Uxie to sacrifice itself to gain momentum and open up opportunities for one of its teammates to safely come in and potentially set up or pressure the opposing team. U-turn is another way to keep up momentum without having to sacrifice Uxie. Magic Coat is used to bounce back Spikes and Toxic Spikes from Pokemon like Klefki and Nihilego as well as Taunt, which is especially useful if Uxie is not carrying Mental Herb. Psychic can be used instead of Magic Coat in the last slot, allowing Uxie to hit Pokemon like Infernape for super effective damage, decreasing its passivity. However, without Magic Coat, Uxie becomes powerless against the aforementioned Spikes and Toxic Spikes setters. Set Details The given EV spread and nature maximize Uxie's defensive capabilities, allowing it to sponge hits from Pokemon like Cobalion and Mega Aerodactyl more easily. Additionally, a Relaxed nature and 0 Speed IVs make Uxie the fastest it can be under the effect of Trick Room. Levitate is Uxie's only ability and grants it a valuable Ground-type immunity. Mental Herb is used as a way to escape Taunt once. Colbur Berry is also an option, providing Uxie the ability to endure Dark-type attacks such as Hydreigon's Dark Pulse and Mega Sharpedo's Crunch, which could otherwise prevent it from setting up Trick Room or Stealth Rock. Usage Tips Uxie is generally used as a lead; if the opposing team has a Pokemon that could take advantage of it, such as a setup sweeper like Swords Dance Scizor, it's reasonable to choose not to lead with it as to not be put into a bad position from the start. Depending on the scenario, Uxie should try to set up Trick Room or Stealth Rock once it's brought out; it should prioritize setting up Stealth Rock first most of the time in order to preserve Trick Room turns. However, if faced against a foe such as Hydreigon or Choice Band Scizor that can 2HKO Uxie, Trick Room is the preferred play so that it can also set up Stealth Rock. Magic Coat should be used against Taunt users to prevent them from shutting down Uxie and to bounce back Spikes and Toxic Spikes from Pokemon like Klefki and Nihilego. It shouldn't be used to bounce back Stealth Rock, though, as Stealth Rock has more PP than Magic Coat, so Uxie will never prevent it from going up. Magic Coat also has less PP than Spikes and Toxic Spikes, but it's still beneficial to bounce those back to cripple the opposing team. Uxie doesn't usually provide much more utility after setting up Stealth Rock and Trick Room, so it's safe to use Memento to bring one of its teammates in safely in those situations. U-turn can be used similarly to Memento to bring one of Uxie's teammates in after Stealth Rock and Trick Room have been set. Be careful around Substitute users such as Chandelure and Kyurem, as once they're behind a Substitute, they're not affected by Memento and are only going to waste Trick Room turns. Team Options Uxie only fits on dedicated Trick Room teams, so slower Pokemon that can take advantage of and pressure the opposing team are mandatory partners. Slower setup sweepers that usually take advantage of the support Memento can provide like Swords Dance Crawdaunt and Alolan Marowak and wallbreakers such as Bewear, Mega Abomasnow, and Mega Camerupt are examples of such Pokemon. Other slower Pokemon that also benefit from the effect of Trick Room like Stakataka are also good teammates. Other Trick Room setters, such as Cresselia and the aforementioned Stakataka, are also valuable partners, as Uxie is often not capable of keeping up Trick Room by itself for an entire match. Cresselia is a particularly good teammate, as it can set up Trick Room on a lot of Pokemon, provide Lunar Dance support, and offer similar defensive utility, which Uxie and most of the teams it's found on would appreciate. Fairy-type Trick Room setters such as Aromatisse also pair well with Uxie, since they can check Dark-types like Hydreigon and Crawdaunt.

Moves Psyshock is Uxie's main STAB move, allowing it to beat the Pokemon it is meant to check one on one. It notably can break the Substitute of offensive Gyarados with no extra Special Attack investment and potentially 2HKO Assault Vest Conkeldurr after Stealth Rock damage. However, Psychic is a good option as well if the user's team already has solid answers to Gyarados, as it hits Cobalion, Chesnaught, and a boosted Bulk Up Conkeldurr for significantly more damage. U-turn allows Uxie to act as a solid pivot and keep up offensive momentum, allowing the user to bring in their threats safely. Stealth Rock is crucial for every competitive team, as it helps punish opposing switches and supports the other members of the team as they put on pressure. These two moves set this Pokemon apart from other bulky Psychic-types in the tier. Thunder Wave allows Uxie to essentially neuter opposing fast threats or setup sweepers such as Mega Aerodactyl, Hydreigon, or Cobalion. Yawn, with its tendency to force switches, can be used in conjunction with U-turn as a great way to grab momentum and net a free switchin for frail attackers or setup sweepers. Set Details Maximum EVs placed in HP and Defense along with a Bold nature let Uxie take on the many physical attackers of the tier better, more specifically common Fighting-types such as Machamp, Lucario, Toxicroak, and Cobalion. Leftovers provides passive recovery, the only solid recovery to which Uxie has access. The ability Levitate offers an immunity to Spikes and Toxic Spikes, which is crucial for pivots, as they can switch in much more easily, and also provides an extra Ground-type immunity for the user's team. An alternative EV spread of 248 HP / 164 Def / 96 SpD with a Calm nature is a viable option, as it let's Uxie take on special attackers such as Mega Sceptile, Nidoqueen, and Nidoking better. Usage Tips Uxie can be used early-game to set up Stealth Rock early in order to rack up damage on the opposing team as they continuously switch in. Uxie switches in well against many common physical attackers. Afterwards, the user can set up Stealth Rock, attempt to cripple foes with Thunder Wave or Yawn, and keep up momentum using U-turn. Uxie puts in work as a pivot in the early- and mid-game, allowing sweepers in the back to take advantage of paralysis spread around and Stealth Rock damage inflicted upon the opposing team. Knock Off and Dark-type moves in general are fairly common, so be wary of opposing Dark-type Pokemon switching in and threatening Uxie. Team Options Cobalion and Chesnaught make for quality partners, as they can sponge common Dark-type moves while fulfilling their respective roles. Florges checks many Dark-types, specifically Hydreigon, and Bug-types while also being able to heal any status ailment that may be inflicted upon Uxie. Pokemon that can combat opposing bulky Steel-types such as Entei and Krookodile pair well. Finally, Uxie works well with hard-hitting Pokemon that appreciate the Speed drops of Thunder Wave and the fact that U-turn can bring them in safely; Crawdaunt and Sylveon are prime examples.

Uxie's large movepool enables it to assist its teammates in a variety of ways, such as laying hazards, crippling the opponent's team with status moves, and acting as a reliable pivot. Uxie should be brought in against a Pokemon that cannot deal to much damage to it. From there, it should cause as much chaos as possible. Stealth Rock is a very notable move for this set because it is no longer a TM move, causing compatibility issues with many BW Pokemon. Fortunately, Uxie is saved from this dilemma, and should lay down the entry hazard as early as possible. After that, Uxie can use U-turn to scout the enemy team and scoot away to an appropriate match-up, or cripple the foe with Thunder Wave. Although not listed on the set, Uxie can use Toxic instead of Thunder Wave to take care of any defensive walls that may trouble it. Psychic gives Uxie an attacking option and is its best bet against any Crobat that may try to Taunt it. However, Psychic may not be too appealing with Uxie's uninvested base 75 Special Attack stat, so you may want to choose Heal Bell instead to rid Uxie's teammates of nasty status conditions. Yawn is also an option for the third moveslot, phazing out a troublesome Pokemon and racking up entry hazard damage. Maximum HP and Defense allows Uxie to absorb blows and live long enough to support its teammates. Frail Spikes users such as Roserade, Smeargle, and Scolipede will thus appreciate having Uxie as a teammate. Another viable move option which Uxie can use is Magic Coat. Magic Coat will instantly relieve Uxie's fear of being Taunted or set up upon by bouncing those moves right back at them, although it requires some prediction. Since Support Uxie can fit on almost any team, there are no specific teammates that it needs. Uxie will also rack up entry hazard damage fairly quickly, so a Rapid Spinner helps. Hitmontop has good synergy with Uxie, since it resists Uxie's weakness to Bug and Dark-type attacks, and the pixie resists Hitmontop's Psychic-type weakness. Uxie cannot do much to opposing walls and defensive Pokemon, so teammates that can demolish them are a godsend to Uxie. One way to do this is by having Pokemon who can lay down Toxic Spikes--Scolipede, Nidoqueen, Nidoking, and Roserade excel at this. As a bonus, Uxie can easily take on any Psychic-type attacks aimed at them. Pokemon who can use Taunt to shut down opposing walls, such as Houndoom and Crobat, also make good partners. Another way to destroy opposing bulky Pokemon is by having hard-hitters such as Heracross and Choice Band Escavalier on Uxie's team. These Pokemon will appreciate Uxie's Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave support.

Like most of its Psychic-type cousins, Uxie can set up both Reflect and Light Screen, a tactic commonly referred to as "dual screening". However, Uxie's immense bulk and movepool, including its ace in the hole, Memento, sets it apart from its fellow dual screen users. In conjunction with both Light Screen and Reflect, Memento's ability to harshly lower the foe's offensive stats nearly guarantees that a frail sweeper will survive even the strongest of attacks, and since Uxie sacrifices itself in the process, said sweeper can be safely brought into the field. Memento is also a great emergency option to get a frail Pokemon in if Uxie does not have enough time to set up both screens. However, in some cases it may be the best to keep Uxie alive for as long as possible, such as against stall teams, since Memento is useless against most walls and defensive Pokemon. Therefore, U-turn is viable as an alternate option. Yawn is listed in the last moveslot to give Uxie and its teammates an easier time setting up. However, this would leave Uxie vulnerable to Pokemon who can Taunt it, so Psychic is a good alternative to prevent the pixie from becoming Taunt bait. The EV spread here is quite simple: maximum HP and Defense allow Uxie to sponge attacks with ease, especially behind screens. However, feel free to alter this spread to make Uxie take on special attackers better. In addition, one may wish to take advantage of Uxie's Speed by using a spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe with a Timid nature. With Uxie's natural bulk and dual screens, it can afford to move EVs from Defense to Speed. If, for whatever reason, the moves listed in the fourth moveslot are unappealing, Uxie can run Heal Bell to aid its teammates, or Thunder Wave to further cripple enemy offensive teams. When choosing Uxie as a dual screens user, it is important to know that it faces stiff competition from other Pokemon, most notably Azelf, who boasts a higher Speed stat, offensive stats, and a better offensive movepool; and Cresselia, who has more bulk and access to recovery moves. Uxie's advantages over these two Pokemon is that it has a plethora of support moves to choose from, most notably Heal Bell, and is bulky yet fast, making it a speedy wall. Keep these factors in mind when choosing a dual screens supporter for your team. Dual screen Uxie is best appreciated by offensive teams, particularly those that rely on heavy offense. As such, it would be best to pair Uxie up with frail sweepers. Houndoom, for example, will almost certainly have an easier time setting up behind Reflect and Light Screen, and can switch into any Dark-type attacks that hurt Uxie. SmashPassers such as Smeargle and Gorebyss will also appreciate dual screens, because Shell Smash will lower their already below-average defensive stats if they do not use White Herb. This also allows the SmashPassers to forgo White Herb with another item. Although Uxie can be a monster to take down if both screens are set up, Pokemon who can Taunt it, such as Crobat and Aerodactyl, will almost always shut it down. Opposing Pokemon can also set up on Uxie while it is busy setting up dual screens. Smeargle, for example, can Spore Uxie and proceed to set up. One way to prevent this is to pair Uxie up with Magic Bounce Xatu, although having two Psychic-type Pokemon on the same team may leave some large weaknesses to Ghost- and Dark-type moves.

Field effects such as rain, sun, and Trick Room can be quite devastating if used properly. However, there are currently no Pokemon in UU who can permanently set them up, so teams that rely on these effects require Pokemon who can manually use the move and quickly switch out to an appropriate sweeper. Uxie's movepool, access to U-turn, sheer bulk, and Speed--even when uninvested--therefore makes it a great candidate to set up these moves. Stealth Rock is a major boon towards Uxie's teammates, as it helps them to net vital OHKOs and 2HKOs, which is important considering that they have a limited amount of time before the appropriate field effect disappears. Psychic gives Uxie an attacking option and prevents it from becoming complete Taunt bait. Heal Bell is a viable alternate option, as it further aids teammates by ridding them of status, most notably Toxic, which, when combined with potential entry hazard damage and Life Orb recoil, can wear down sweepers fairly quickly. If Uxie is setting up either rain or sun, then Damp Rock or Heat Rock is a given, as it increases the duration of the respective field effects. Trick Room has no such item, so Uxie should opt to use Leftovers instead. In addition, on a Trick Room team, Uxie should use a Relaxed nature instead of a Bold nature and have 0 IVs in Speed. The EVs are, once again, quite simple, and allow Uxie to live long enough to set up the appropriate field effect several times throughout the match. It is best to have at least one or two other Pokemon on Uxie's team that can set up the same field condition, so your sweepers do not find themselves on limited time. For rain teams, Registeel is a good rain dancer since it loves having its Fire-type weakness reduced. Empoleon is another good dancer, and as a bonus, gains double-STAB on Water-type attacks due to its typing. Cresselia and Arcanine are good Pokemon to set up Sunny Day since they can now recover more health with Moonlight and Morning Sun. As for Trick Room, some good options would be Dusclops, Slowbro, and Cresselia. However, these Pokemon share similar weaknesses with Uxie, so be sure to keep this fact in mind while constructing a Trick Room team. In addition to these Pokemon, Uxie should also be paired up with appropriate sweepers. Rain teams can opt to go with Kingdra, Gorebyss, Kabutops, Ludicolo, and Omastar. Sun teams love to have Sawsbuck, Shaymin, Tangrowth, and Charizard. Common sweepers on Trick Room teams include Escavalier, Rhyperior, Aggron, Slowbro, and Golurk. One important factor to keep in mind is that these Pokemon only have a set amount of turns to sweep, so stall teams and defensive Pokemon may be troublesome. However, rain and sun teams should not have too much of a problem since many of their sweepers gain double STAB on moves, and Trick Room team sweepers often have monstrous strength.

Uxie is quite fast for a defensive Pokemon; by utilizing both Substitute and Calm Mind, along with its great defensive stats, it can surprise and overcome some of its usually more troublesome opponents. Although one might immediately compare Uxie to Mew, who has overall better bulk, slightly better Speed, as well as better offenses, it lacks the Ground-type immunity Uxie sports, making Mew vulnerable to Spikes and Toxic Spikes. Calm Mind boosts Uxie's already great Special Defense, and raises its Special Attack to threatening levels. Substitute blocks dangerous status such as paralysis and Toxic poison, and after a few Calm Mind boosts, Uxie's Substitutes are sturdy enough to withstand most special attacks, even some super effective ones. Psychic is Uxie's most powerful attack, and can destroy anything that does not resist it after a few boosts. Thanks to Uxie's immense bulk, it isn't too difficult to accumulate many boosts. Thunderbolt complements Psychic nicely, landing neutral hits on most things that either resist or are immune to Psychic, with the exception of Krookodile and Steelix, both of which are relatively uncommon in the UU metagame. Psyshock is a viable alternative over Psychic in order to do more damage to special walls, but its lower Base Power makes it less appealing. The given EV spread along with a Timid nature allows Uxie to outspeed Rotom, which is arguably the most important thing Uxie needs to outrun, and provides a little more bulk with the 96 HP EVs; the remaining EVs are put into Special Attack in order to ensure that Uxie isn't completely useless without any boosts. An alternate EV spread that maximizes HP and Defense along with a Bold nature can be used in order to take hits better while setting up, but the loss of power and Speed is extremely noticeable. Leftovers should be the only option for this set, as Uxie has no other form of recovery, and appreciates any replenished health, no matter how little. Giga Drain is an option over Thunderbolt in order to hit Krookodile and provide a form of pseudo-healing, but its low Base Power and inferior coverage usually isn't worth it. As this set aims to attempt a sweep rather than to support the rest of the team, Uxie actually needs assistance from the team in order to be successful. Teammates that are able to set up entry hazards, the most useful being Toxic Spikes as it can wear down the opponent while Uxie sets up, are extremely useful. Qwilfish is an excellent teammate, as it can set up both Toxic Spikes and Spikes, as well as having the ability Intimidate, and access to useful support moves such as Taunt, Thunder Wave, and Haze. Teammates that can get rid of Krookodile and other Dark-types in general are needed, as the latter are immune to Psychic. Bulky Fighting-types such as Hitmontop, Machamp, Cobalion, and Hariyama fit the bill nicely.

This set utilizes Uxie to its full potential; it makes use of Uxie's access to the rare Imprison to shut down other Trick Room users. Additionally, Imprison prevents your opponents from using Protect, which is found on nearly every Pokemon in the metagame. Although Trick Room is mainly on the set for Imprison, it can also be used when facing faster Pokemon such as Garchomp and Zapdos. Psychic is Uxie's strongest STAB attack, which hits common Pokemon, such as Hitmontop and Toxicroak, for super effective damage. Helping Hand can be used instead to support Uxie's partner, but as Taunt will easily shut down Uxie if it does not run Psychic, this is not recommended. Finally, Protect is necessary for Uxie and the effects of Imprison to last as long as possible. A Sitrus Berry allows Uxie to heal a quarter of its health in a pinch. A Calm nature with 252 HP and Special Defense EVs allow Uxie to tank special attacks and prevents physical attackers such as Tyranitar from OHKOing it. Uxie partners well with sweepers that can take advantage of its support to quickly KO opponents. For example, Garchomp has great synergy with Uxie, as it can dish out fast Earthquakes that will not affect Uxie. Tyranitar is a great partner as well, as Uxie has Psychic to take care of the Fighting-types that trouble it. Uxie can even set up Trick Room to patch up Tyranitar's low Speed. Metagross also works well with Uxie, taking advantage of Trick Room with its low Speed.

Uxie has a considerable amount of bulk, which enables it to take hits from many opposing Pokemon, and this set is all about tanking those hits, crippling and softening up your opponent, and setting up the rest of your team for an eventual sweep. First, you should try to bring Uxie into a Pokemon who can't possibly penetrate its impregnable defenses and proceed to use Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave, or Yawn. After this mission has been accomplished, Uxie is free to U-turn as your opponent goes to their Uxie counter, and you can choose the appropriate Pokemon to switch in against it. The choice between Thunder Wave and Yawn is up to your preference. Uxie is one of the most reliable users of Thunder Wave and can cripple your opponent's faster walls and sweepers, allowing a slower sweeper, such as Rhyperior and Marowak, to come in late-game and plow through your opponent's team. Yawn works well to rack up residual damage and can potentially put a Pokemon to sleep, but, when compared to the possibility to cripple multiple Pokemon with Thunder Wave, is usually a lesser option. Psychic is Uxie's obligatory STAB move, and it helps damage the common Fighting-types in UU, especially Hitmontop, who will try to rain on Uxie's parade by spinning away Stealth Rock. Psychic also lets Uxie deal with the myriad of Poison-types in UU, such as Venusaur and Toxicroak. A Bold nature is recommended as Uxie has a weak U-turn anyway, and even with a hindering nature, Uxie is able to break Alakazam's Substitutes with it. Fortunately for Uxie, the sheer amount of sets and combinations it can run works to its advantage by ensuring that your opponent can never be too sure what exactly your Uxie is running. One of the easiest changes to make is to change the EV spread to a specially defensive one of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD with a Calm nature. Another option is to keep the given EV spread, but instead using a Relaxed nature and 0 Speed IVs. This will allow Uxie to take a hit and U-turn to another Pokemon as opposed to forcing the Pokemon to whom it U-turns to take a hit. Uxie fares very well in the lead position, as it is able to get Stealth Rock up consistently and possibly start paralyzing the opponent's team early with Thunder Wave. If using Uxie in the lead position, the slower nature and IVs are recommended for the reasons given above. However, to ensure Uxie gets Stealth Rock up on the field, another alternate EV spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe with a Timid nature can be used. This will lower Uxie's tanking abilities, but will allow Uxie to get Stealth Rock up against some of the Taunt leads of UU, with the exceptions of Electrode, Ambipom, Mismagius, and Alakazam, as well as allowing Uxie to paralyze opponents before they can move. Thunderbolt can be used in the last slot to deal with Water-types such as Feraligatr and Azumarill, who may take the opportunity to switch in and set up on Uxie's paltry offenses. Thunderbolt and Psychic together offer near-perfect neutral coverage in UU, but without U-turn, Uxie's ability to tank the opponent's hits and support the team is greatly diminished. Zen Headbutt is an alternative choice for STAB in order to inflict damage on sweepers who are weaker on the physical side; however, its imperfect accuracy is a turn-off. Heal Bell is an option to consider in place of either Stealth Rock or Thunder Wave. With it, Uxie becomes an effective cleric, further supporting the team. Memento is another option to consider to allow Uxie to sacrifice itself in order to safely bring in one of your sweepers and give it a free turn to set up. Sacrificing Uxie, however, takes away its ability to support the team, and should your sweeper fail to complete its sweep, Uxie will be unable to tank any more hits for your team. Finally, Uxie can make use of Knock Off to strip its enemies of their item, such as Milotic's Leftovers and Torterra's Life Orb. Uxie's downfall is its lack of recovery, so pairing Uxie with a Wish user can work well to lengthen its life. Clefable and Chansey are great candidates, and as an added bonus, they attract Fighting-type attacks, which Uxie can shrug off with ease. Uxie has a tough time dealing with Dark-types, such as Houndoom and Absol. A great partner to handle these threats is Hariyama, who can handle Dark-type attacks and dish out STAB Fighting-type moves in return. Mismagius is another threat to Uxie, so having a Registeel waiting in the wings can deal solve this problem nicely by using Iron Head or Shadow Claw to break its Substitutes or Thunder Wave to render it useless.

Once Uxie acquires enough Calm Minds, this set can be a dangerous sweeper. Thanks to its already-high defensive stats, Uxie will more than likely obtain plenty of Calm Minds over a long period of time. Additionally, immunity to Spikes and Toxic Spikes makes this set one of the best mono-attackers around, as Uxie can switch in at any point of the match without taking any major residual damage. The main idea when using this set is to switch in on a weak attack, set up Calm Minds until Uxie is at low health, and then use Rest. While Uxie is asleep, use Sleep Talk to allow Uxie the opportunity to garner even more Calm Mind boosts or possibly nail the opponent with Psychic. This set's effectiveness heavily relies on how well you have scouted your opponent's team. It's highly recommended that Uxie is brought out in the later stages of the match, as common defensive Pokemon such as Haze Milotic can be a major barricade to Uxie. Dark-types with Taunt also shut this set down cold, so it is recommended that they are scouted and eliminated beforehand. Donphan makes an excellent partner thanks to its ability to draw in and 2HKO Spiritomb with Stealth Rock in play. Additionally, pairing Donphan with a dangerous Flying-type such as Scyther or Moltres can be beneficial, as it forces the opponent to use Spiritomb to block your Rapid Spin attempts even more. Lastly, Donphan can draw in Milotic, which can make planning Uxie's potential sweep much easier. Choice Specs Rotom makes a good offensive partner, as it can draw in defensive Dark-types and strike them hard with STAB Thunderbolt. Similarly, Mismagius can easily inflict respectable damage to most Dark-types after a Nasty Plot boost. Substitute Dugtrio makes a great offensive partner thanks to its ability to trap Chansey and Registeel, who are both major blocks to a successful Uxie sweep. Furthermore, Substitute Dugtrio can be used to deal with Drapion, Houndoom, and Absol with correct prediction. If you reveal Uxie early in the match to safeguard your team against the multitude of physical sweepers in UU, then pairing it with a defensive Pokemon to deal with its typical counters is recommended. Defensive Hitmontop can deal with Drapion and Absol, while Venusaur can check Haze Milotic. Though it's not necessary, Spikes support can make the process of removing defensive juggernauts such as Milotic much quicker, which can ultimately lead to an easier sweep for Uxie.

Another interesting move you will find if you dig far enough down Uxie's supporting movepool (in alphabetical order, of course) is Trick Room, which Uxie can set up easily because of, once again, its great bulk and immunity to Ground-type attacks. It is also unique as a Trick Room supporter in that it actually has a high base Speed, which allows it to supply a sort of "slow" U-turn under Trick Room's effects, giving it a nice little niche. Yawn is great for forcing switches, and U-turn is great for capitalizing on these switches to bring a sweeper in for free. Finally, Psychic is placed in the last slot as a nice reliable STAB move, so that Uxie is not complete Taunt bait. Bulk is completely maximized, so that Uxie has more chances to set up Trick Room repeatedly throughout the match. An alternative EV spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe with a Jolly nature capitalizes on its relatively high Speed stat though, giving it that nice "slow" U-turn so that it, and not a sweeper teammate, takes a hit when U-turn is used. Alternatively, Yawn and Psychic can be replaced with the dual screens. The strategy to employ when using both dual screens and Trick Room is to set up the dual screens first followed by the use of Trick Room. If using dual screens, giving Uxie a Light Clay is recommended so that the duration of the screens lasts even after Trick Room has ended. Using both dual screens and Trick Room unfortunately leaves Uxie with only one other free moveslot, and it is usually forced to use U-turn so that Uxie's sweeping partner can come in unscathed. Mismagius, Absol, and Houndoom are major threats to Uxie thanks to their super effective STABs and the latter two's access to Pursuit. Hariyama is a prime switch-in to the latter two, and it can easily outpace both after Uxie uses Trick Room, scaring them off with a STAB Fighting-type move. Registeel can handle Mismagius, and with Trick Room down, it will have a much easier job doing so. Some examples of Pokemon who make phenomenal Trick Room sweepers alongside Uxie include Camerupt, Rhyperior, Azumarill, and Marowak.

When equipped with a Choice Scarf, Uxie is able to reinvent itself as a support Pokemon by checking a myriad of faster threats and, more importantly, make use of Trick in order to cripple an opposing Pokemon. Uxie's access to Trick frequently results either in the crippling of unsuspecting special walls, such as Chansey and Registeel, or in the complete shutdown of bulky stat boosters who commonly try to use Uxie as setup fodder, such as Houndoom and Drapion. Once it has Tricked its Choice Scarf away, Uxie can function perfectly well as a scout and defensive pivot, as even with no investment in Defense, it's still bulky enough to withstand assaults from strong Fighting-types such as Toxicroak and Hitmonlee. Because this set does such a superb job when it comes to luring and crippling common special walls such as Chansey, Registeel, and specially defensive Arcanine, pairing Uxie with Pokemon who can take advantage of the removal of these threats is recommended. Special Venusaur, Moltres, and Mismagius are some great choices for this role. Uxie also tends to attract Pursuit users, especially those holding Choice items, as they can switch in for free on three of Uxie's four attacks and put it in a checkmate position. Because of that, having teammates who can set up on Dark-type attacks, such as Swords Dance Blaziken and Rock Polish Aggron, is extremely beneficial. Just like the Support set, this Uxie works very well in the lead position, as the added Speed enables Uxie to circumvent every sort of Taunt user either by setting Stealth Rock up before they can shut it down, or just by Tricking them its Choice Scarf, thus forcing said leads to switch out, which can be used in conjunction with U-turn to maintain momentum for your side. Additionally, Pokemon focused on setting up weather, such as opposing Uxie and Mesprit, undergo the same problems, as the loss of their weather-lengthening items means that they are limited to five turns of weather and are forced out afterwards. Due to carrying no status inflicting moves and having a rather mediocre Special Attack, one of the main issues Uxie has to bear with is the inability to do anything meaningful to a good number of sweepers once it Tricks its Choice Scarf away, meaning the pixie becomes major setup fodder for bulkier threats such as Altaria, Feraligatr, and Calm Mind users such as Slowbro, Spiritomb, and Mismagius. Because of this, Milotic is a very good partner to this set, given its access to Haze and well-balanced defenses that allow it to easily take on most of the aforementioned threats. Alternatively, you can run either Yawn or Thunder Wave over Stealth Rock to deter sweepers from switching in too readily, but that removes a great part of Uxie's effectiveness as a lead and doesn't necessarily ensure that Uxie can shut them down, as most of the above Pokemon have means of circumventing status effects.

Uxie's sheer bulk allows it to easily set up any of the many options in its repertoire to support the entire team, and dual screens are no exception. What sets Uxie apart from the other bulky dual screens users out there, though, is Memento, which faints Uxie to harshly lower the current foe's attacking stats, and allows a teammate to come in scot-free. With dual screens up, and those stat drops on the opponent, even the frailest of stat-uppers can find enough room to set up, which is great news for Belly Drummers such as Linoone and Charizard, who are usually too frail to do so otherwise. Dual screens are a given on this set, halving the damage your team will take from direct attacks. But the toss-up between U-turn and Memento in the third slot is a tough choice to make. While Memento's advantages should be well-known by now, U-turn is an equally useful tool, which shares most of the utility of Memento, but swaps stat drops on the opponent for not sacrificing Uxie, allowing it to further support the team with its bulk. In the final slot, choose what gaps your team needs filled in; Stealth Rock is great if you lack another Pokemon on your team to set it up, Yawn causes switches that can be taken advantage of, and Thunder Wave can cripple certain sweepers. HP is maximized first so Uxie can sponge hits even before the dual screens are set up. Then, Defense is maximized as it does help protect Uxie from the more common Dark- and Bug-type attacks that Uxie will face, particularly Pursuit and U-turn. The remaining EVs go into Special Defense for an added ounce of special bulk. Light Clay is the recommended item here, in order to extend the duration of the dual screens by a further three turns, which will come in handy much more often than you might think. If using this set as a lead, a spread of 252 HP / 32 Def / 224 Spe with a Timid nature is recommended to outspeed Moltres, allowing Uxie to perform its full setup (dual screens + Stealth Rocks) duties easily. However, like every other lead out there, this one has trouble with certain leads, particularly those who set up Spikes, as Uxie can do absolutely nothing to stop them. So, packing a Rapid Spin user or a team mostly immune to Spikes is probably a good idea. Completely maximizing Speed is another idea, to tie with Houndoom and Drapion, allowing Uxie to have a chance of setting up a screen before they pummel it with their powerful STABs. Countering this set is hard because of dual screens. With Reflect up, even Absol's Swords Dance-boosted Night Slash fails to KO, and with Light Screen up, neither will Houndoom's Nasty Plot-boosted Dark Pulse. However, Mismagius has a field day with this set, as it is able to freely switch in on any of Uxie's moves, set up a Substitute, and proceed to boost up its stats with ease. Therefore, having a way to eliminate Mismagius is crucial. Spiritomb works well, as it is able to use the Light Screen set up by Uxie to cushion any Shadow Ball Mismagius might throw at it and either retaliate with Dark Pulse or checkmate it with a combination of Pursuit and Sucker Punch.

While Uxie is usually found in a supporting role, where it sports high amounts of HP and defensive EVs, this Uxie aims to surprise opponents by hitting many common leads hard, often OHKOing those who are weak to its moves. Pokemon such as Omastar, Rhyperior, Venusaur, and Cloyster will expect Uxie to U-turn out in fear of their entry hazards or sheer power, only to be KOed by one of Uxie's coverage moves. In addition, Uxie carries U-turn to help you quickly gain the upper hand after it has netted a kill. Uxie still performs its supporting duties by laying down Stealth Rock rather easily thanks to its base 95 Speed and massive bulk. Even with no defensive investment, Uxie can take plenty of unboosted and neutral hits, which allows it to function as a bulky check to quite a few Pokemon. Lastly, its attacking prowess prevents it from becoming setup fodder, unlike the defensive sets. Psychic is the obligatory STAB move, and lets Uxie pound Venusaur and Nidoking leads. It also deals great damage to a majority of the other common leads, including Arcanine, Ambipom, and Electrode. Energy Ball is for getting the OHKO on Omastar, Rhyperior, Cloyster, and Kabutops leads. The third slot is a choice between U-turn and Thunderbolt. Uxie still has problems with Mismagius, Spiritomb, and Alakazam leads, so giving Uxie a quick escape route off the battlefield is recommended. However, Thunderbolt hits Moltres and Scyther for super effective damage, as well as giving Uxie near perfect neutral coverage alongside Psychic. Another option is to use Grass Knot over Energy Ball, as Energy Ball will not always OHKO Rhyperior, whereas Grass Knot will. Another advantage Grass Knot has is that Milotic and Donphan are hit noticeably harder. However, Uxie will lose the ability to OHKO Cloyster and Omastar. Thunder Wave can be used in the third slot to cripple fast Pokemon who attempt to switch in and revenge kill Uxie, such as Rotom, Sceptile, and Houndoom. If more power is desired, Life Orb is an option to net some kills that Expert Belt cannot. Lum Berry is useful for ensuring the win against sleep leads such as Venusaur and Butterfree, as well as for taking Thunder Wave from the likes of lead Mesprit and opposing Uxie. Leftovers can be used to gain more survivability, but this is not recommended as Uxie is already lacking in power as it is. While Mesprit is usually the better of the pixies to lead with if power is desired, Uxie can function just as well, if not better. Pokemon such as Moltres, Venusaur, and Kabutops are all faster than or tie with Mesprit and can all deal serious damage to it, often to the point where Mesprit has to choose between knocking out the opposing lead or laying down Stealth Rock. Uxie's bulk, on the other hand, often enables it to survive hits that Mesprit cannot. Uxie's base 95 Speed also allows it to outpace quite a few Pokemon whom Mesprit cannot. Uxie's Special Attack score, however, does not quite match Mesprit's, which can often lead to missing out on a few kills that Mesprit would achieve.

Uxie's outstanding defensive stats allow it to switch into many common attacks with relative ease, while its high Speed stat allows it to outpace opposing Pokemon and use Rain Dance or Sunny Day before taking a hit. Uxie can also use Memento to sacrifice itself to enable the team's Swift Swim or Chlorophyll sweeper to switch in without risk. With U-turn, however, Uxie can immediately switch to your sweepers while staying healthy, enabling it to set up weather later in the game. Heal Bell gives sweepers who are afflicted by status a second chance at wreaking havoc. Psychic is an important STAB to carry because it prevents Uxie from being complete Taunt bait, and stops Pokemon such as Mismagius, Rotom, and Rhyperior from setting up an easy Substitute. Even more importantly, it eliminates opposing Toxicroak who can easily put a stop to most Swift Swim sweepers' sweeps. Stealth Rock is put in the last slot, as it is good for additional team support and guarantees important KOs for your sweepers. Uxie can use either Rain Dance and Damp Rock, or Sunny Day and Heat Rock; the choice between the two depends on your team. The Speed EVs give Uxie just enough Speed to outpace Rotom who lack Choice Scarf. All that bulk is good for letting Uxie set up multiple times during a game, or get one full setup and then use Memento. Uxie can be used as either a mid-game weather machine or as a lead; if you are using Uxie as a lead, a bulkier EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD, a Bold nature, and U-turn over Memento are recommended. Using the same EV spread of 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD but with a Relaxed nature and 0 Speed IVs can be helpful to let Uxie move second, allowing it to set up a weather condition and then take a hit before U-turning out; this allows Uxie's teammate to come in unscathed. If you have another Stealth Rock user on your team, Uxie can use Heal Bell over Stealth Rock to better support its team. Uxie's job is to set up either Rain Dance or Sunny Day, so Pokemon with Swift Swim or Chlorophyll are required to take advantage of the weather Uxie sets up. Fire-types are also good teammates if Uxie is using Sunny Day. As this Uxie's job is to support its team, faster Taunt users who resist Psychic-type attacks, such as Houndoom, Drapion, and Alakazam, will be troublesome. Houndoom and Drapion are especially annoying, as they can use Pursuit on Uxie as it switches out. On weather teams, you really won't carry team members specifically to deal with these threats, but they can be taken down by weather-boosted attacks fairly easily. If your team is particularly weak to them, U-turn will be much more helpful than Memento on Uxie to hit them super effectively.

While Uxie has a rather average-looking Special Attack stat, its high Speed stat, along with excellent bulk, a good movepool, and access to Calm Mind, allows it to become a decent sweeper. On top of this, Uxie is immune to Spikes and Toxic Spikes and not weak to Stealth Rock, meaning it is difficult to take down in one shot. This set is especially dangerous to the offensive Fire / Water / Grass cores used in UU. The idea is to bring Uxie in on the many Pokemon who can't pose a threat to it and set up Calm Mind. Even at only +1, Uxie is strong enough to hurt many offensive teams. Psychic is used again as Uxie's STAB. Grass Knot allows Uxie to muscle through Milotic, easily 2HKOing it after a boost. It also allows Uxie to 3HKO Spiritomb; so with some prediction, Uxie may be able to set up on Sucker Punch and defeat Spiritomb. Hidden Power Ground rounds out Uxie's coverage, allowing it to defeat Houndoom and other Dark-type Pokemon such as Skuntank and Drapion. It also allows Uxie to somewhat hurt Registeel. Thunderbolt can also be used as it offers better neutral coverage and is Uxie's strongest move against Absol, while also hitting Moltres and Articuno for super effective damage. Like most special sweepers, Uxie is walled by both Registeel and Chansey. Both can easily take Uxie's attacks and then cripple it with Thunder Wave or Toxic. Dugtrio is a good teammate to run alongside offensive Uxie, as it can trap and remove both thanks to its Arena Trap ability and strong STAB Earthquake. Hariyama and other Fighting-types can also switch into both Registeel and Chansey and scare them away with the threat of their STAB attacks. Venusaur can lure in Registeel and cripple it with Sleep Powder, allowing Uxie to set up on it much more easily. Specially defensive Drapion and Skuntank check Uxie should it run Thunderbolt, so pairing Uxie with a Ground-type, such as Donphan and Rhyperior, can help Uxie bypass these threats.

With excellent bulk and good Speed, Uxie can effectively use a combination of Substitute and Calm Mind. Substitute blocks the "triple Ts", which are Thunder Wave, Toxic, and Trick, all three of which horribly cripple Uxie. It also allows Uxie to avoid Sucker Punch and critical hits, making it an excellent bulky set-up sweeper. With Calm Mind, Uxie can set up on many of UU's top threats, such as Milotic and Venusaur. After a Calm Mind, standard bulky Milotic's Surf will fail to break Uxie's Substitute. Psychic is Uxie's STAB of choice while Thunderbolt offers the best neutral coverage alongside it, allowing Uxie to defeat Haze Milotic one-on-one. With Thunderbolt, Uxie can set up Calm Mind and immediately slam Milotic with Thunderbolt while Milotic uses Haze to wipe away Uxie's Calm Mind boosts. Uxie can then use Calm Mind again while Milotic Recovers and repeat the process until Milotic runs out of PP for Recover or gets nailed by a critical hit and loses. Signal Beam is also an option should you wish to hit opposing Psychic-types harder. The HP EVs provide Uxie with enough bulk to switch into Moltres's Fire Blast, use Calm Mind, and not be 2HKOed after Stealth Rock damage. The heavy Speed investment allows Uxie to outspeed Timid Rotom, while the rest are placed into Special Attack to power up Uxie's offenses. If checking Moltres is not difficult for your team, an alternative EV spread of 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe with the same nature can be used to allow Uxie to hit as hard as possible. Hidden Power Ground can also be used in the final spot to hit Drapion, and is also Uxie's strongest attack option to use against Registeel. Registeel and Chansey are big problems for this set, while Clefable with Encore and Spiritomb cause trouble for Uxie as well. Dugtrio can trap and remove Registeel and Chansey without too much trouble, while Fighting-types such as Hariyama and Hitmonlee can scare away Chansey and Clefable. Houndoom sets up on Spiritomb relatively easily while Uxie can switch into Fighting- and Ground-type attacks aimed at it, as well as setting up on bulky Water-types who attempt to counter Houndoom. Mixed Houndoom who utilize Beat Up can also get past Chansey. Specially defensive Drapion counters Uxie pretty well too, as it can heavily damage Uxie with its STAB attacks or use Whirlwind to force Uxie out. Apart from Dugtrio, who can trap and KO Drapion, Rhyperior is also a great teammate for Uxie, as it is able switch into anything Drapion throws at it and set up Rock Polish or Substitute. Should Uxie lack Thunderbolt, Milotic with Haze can cause Uxie problems as well, as it can use Haze to remove Uxie's boosts and use Recover to heal itself. Venusaur is an excellent switch-in to Milotic, easily scaring it away with its powerful STABs while luring in Registeel and putting it to sleep with Sleep Powder.

Uxie may seem like a silly choice for a slot on an Uber team, but Uxie has access to one key move that makes it very viable: Memento. Uxie has several key advantages over the most common user of Memento in Ubers, Latios. Uxie's defenses are far superior to Latios's defenses, meaning that Uxie will often have an easier time setting up. Unlike Latios, Uxie is also neutral to the many Dragon-type attacks of the Uber metagame, meaning that common Choice Scarfed Dragon-types such as Garchomp, Dialga, and Palkia will not be able to stop Uxie's setup like they could with Latios. Additionally, Uxie's access to Memento sets it apart from Mewtwo and Bronzong, allowing Pokemon such as Groudon and Mew to set up on the weakened Pokemon. Memento also allows Uxie to take advantage of Brick Break Scizor, as Brick Break will not shatter Uxie's screens the turn it sacrifices itself. With good defenses, Light Screen and Reflect (both lasting 8 turns due to Light Clay), and Memento, Uxie is very capable of helping a teammate set up a sweep. The last move slot is often best occupied by U-turn for numerous reasons. U-turn allows Uxie to escape from Taunt users, such as Mewtwo and Tyranitar, that attempt to stop its set up, in addition to scouting out the opponent's reaction to Uxie. U-turn will also allow Uxie to escape from Wobbuffet without sacrificing itself. Yawn is another good option, as its ability to scare opponents into switching or induce sleep the following turn can give Uxie a free turn to set up. Finally, Uxie is capable of setting up Stealth Rock if needed. Deciding Uxie's nature is crucial, as it determines what Pokemon Uxie can set up on. A Careful nature with max HP and Special Defense will ensure that several extremely powerful special attackers will be unable to switch in and stop Uxie's set up after a use of Light Screen. For example, not even a Timid Choice Specs Palkia will be able to 2HKO a Careful Uxie with a rain boosted, STAB Surf under a Light Screen. With an Impish nature and max HP and Defense, Uxie is more capable of setting up on several prominent physical attackers. For example, an Impish Uxie will never be 3HKOed by a Jolly Choice Scarf Garchomp's Dragon Claw, meaning that Uxie can easily set up on it. An Impish nature will also allow Uxie to have an easier time setting up on Groudon, who will be unable to 2HKO Uxie with even an Adamant Choice Banded Stone Edge after Uxie takes Stealth Rock damage. Finally, using Jolly with max HP and max Speed is very viable due to Uxie's 95 base Speed allowing it to outspeed and set up on prominent, base 90 Speed Pokemon such as Kyogre, Groudon, and Dialga. A Jolly Uxie has the bonus of possibly blocking Modest Choice Specs Kyogre's chances of KOing Uxie if it uses Light Screen as Kyogre switches in, as a full powered Water Spout will only have around a 7% chance of OHKOing a Light Screened Uxie after it takes Stealth Rock damage. In order to use Uxie to its fullest potential, it's best to lure out the Pokemon it easily sets up on. Defensive Pokemon who lack phazing moves (such as Blissey, Forretress, and some Giratina) have almost no chance of stopping Uxie. Thanks to Levitate, Uxie can switch into Groudon's Earthquakes, and set up as most Groudon struggle to defeat Uxie (especially when Uxie is Impish or facing defensive Groudon). Uxie can also use Levitate to set up on any Choiced Garchomp that locks itself into Earthquake and can even set up on a Choice Scarf Garchomp's Dragon Claw if Uxie is using an Impish nature. There are several Pokemon who, while Uxie can not directly switch into, can set up on if Uxie is able to find a way to switch into these Pokemon unharmed. For example: Latias, Choice Scarf Dialga, and Choice Scarf Palkia can be set up on by Uxie if it gets in on them unharmed. Scizor makes an excellent partner with Uxie, because it will often attract Pokemon such as Forretress, Giratina, Choice Scarf Palkia (expecting a Bullet Punch) and Groudon to takes its attacks. Scizor can use U-turn as these threats switch in, allowing Uxie to easily set up on them. Jolly Uxie works particularly well with Scizor, because Scizor will also attract base 90 Speed Ubers such as Kyogre, meaning that Uxie can come in via Scizor's U-turn, and set up on them due to Uxie's superior Speed. Dialga will often lure in Groudon and Garchomp after a kill, giving Uxie the perfect opportunity to switch into an Earthquake, and start setting up (unless Garchomp has a Life Orb). Other Steel-types such as Metagross and Jirachi (who has access to U-turn) will also attract Forretress, Giratina, and Ground-type attacks for Uxie to switch in on. Deoxys-A makes a great lead for teams featuring Uxie. This is because after Deoxys-A either defeats or forces the opponents lead to switch, the opponent will sometimes attempt to deal with Deoxys-A by revenge killing it with common users of Choice Scarf such as Dialga and Palkia, thus giving Uxie the free time to set up after Deoxys-A is KOed. Although risky, you can use the strategy of double switching to put Uxie in a favorable situation. For example, if you are using Darkrai, you can predict the switch to Choice Scarf Palkia or Choice Scarf Dialga, and switch in Uxie, thus allowing Uxie to set up on either of them.
