Analysis

Shieldon's most effective set is a SturdyJuice set. This set allows it to set up Stealth Rock and potentially eliminate a faster foe using Metal Burst. However, its low Speed can allow opponents to Taunt it before it can set up Stealth Rock, and Onix's access to Weak Armor makes it a far better check to Flying-types. Onix can also run a SturdyJuice set better than Shieldon due to its much higher Speed stat, allowing it to outspeed common foes. Additionally, the presence of entry hazards and the ubiquity of Knock Off reduce the effectiveness of SturdyJuice sets.
