Analysis

Utility Rapidash is a solid check to prominent threats in ZU such as Froslass, Thwackey, and Articuno. High Horsepower targets Rock-types like Rhydon and Coalossal as well as Pokemon like Ninetales and Qwilfish. Toxic places checks such as Cramorant and Pyukumuku on a timer, while Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attackers like Kangaskhan, Piloswine, and Silvally formes. Morning Sun allows Rapidash to remain healthy throughout a match to continually soft check foes. Flame Body lets Rapidash punish physical attackers like Thwackey and Klinklang. Utility Rapidash fits on bulky offense and balance teams as a check to many of ZU's prominent offensive threats. Tangela is an amazing partner, as it covers problematic Water- and Ground-types like Poliwrath and Rhydon. In return, Rapidash is able to take on opposing Fire- and Ice-types, which give Tangela trouble. This core is often paired with special walls like Clefairy and Articuno to handle foes like Thievul and Rotom. Ice-types like Froslass and Articuno can threaten the aforementioned Ground-types while also dealing with the problematic Altaria. Knock Off absorbers like Uxie and Qwilfish are necessary to preserve Rapidash's Heavy-Duty Boots, which is crucial to letting it consistently switch in.

Analysis

Swords Dance Rapidash is a wallbreaker and cleaner that faces competition with Ninetales as a Fire-type setup sweeper. High Horsepower targets foes like Rhydon, Coalossal, and Qwilfish. Morning Sun provides Rapidash with reliable recovery, mitigating some of the recoil from Flare Blitz and letting it switch into foes like Articuno and Ninetales. Wild Charge handles opposing Water-types like Poliwrath and Cramorant. Swords Dance Rapidash functions best as a mid-game wallbreaker that can also double as a late-game cleaner. Grass-types like Tangela and Thwackey can help weaken Water-, Rock-, and Ground-types like Poliwrath, Rhydon, and Piloswine; in return, they appreciate Rapidash forcing out Skuntank and Silvally-Poison and handling Tangela. Ice-types like Froslass, Articuno, and Jynx threaten Dragon- and Water-types like Altaria, Appletun, and Poliwrath. Entry hazard support from Rhydon and Qwilfish is valuable, wearing down physically bulky foes like Qwilfish and Gurdurr into KO range. Likewise, special wallbreakers like Rotom, Jynx, and Skuntank can also pressure the aforementioned physical walls.

Analysis

With its amazing offensive stats, access to Swords Dance, and Fire typing, Rapidash is a staple of sun teams. Solar Blade is an amazing move under sun, nuking usual checks like Rhydon and Poliwrath. High Horsepower targets Fire-types like opposing Rapidash and Ninetales, as well as Qwilfish, whereas Play Rough can nail Dragon-types like Altaria and Appletun, the former being a huge threat to sun teams. Flash Fire provides a useful Fire immunity, which is a blessing for sun teams, letting Rapidash absorb sun-boosted Fire-type attacks from the likes of Ninetales and opposing Rapidash. Sun setters like Liepard, Uxie, and Exeggutor are mandatory partners for Rapidash, allowing for a powerful sun-boosted Flare Blitz and no charge Solar Blade. Other Pokemon that can take advantage of sun like Ivysaur, Shiftry, and Leafeon also make for great partners. Rapidash handles Grass-types such as Tangela, Shiinotic, and Gourgeist formes, as well as Articuno, while they can weaken the likes of Altaria and Appletun in return.
