Analysis

Munchlax's natural bulk allows it to check some of LC's strongest special attackers, such as Porygon and Abra. With Thick Fat, it is also a hard counter to the tier's Fire-types, which makes it a soft check to sun teams. Curse allows Munchlax to be a strong setup sweeper, and it finds setup opportunities against foes such as Natu. Body Slam is preferred for its ability to paralyze common switch-ins such as Mienfoo, but Facade allows Munchlax to deal extra damage after absorbing status from moves such as Scald and Sludge Bomb. Fire Punch hits Steel-types such as Ferroseed and Pawniard. The combination of Berry Juice and Recycle helps Munchlax consistently check special attackers and set up with Curse. Munchlax is typically paired with Koffing or Larvesta to help wear down or burn Mienfoo. These foes also help Munchlax by absorbing Knock Off and dealing with troublesome foes such as Grookey and Pawniard.
