Analysis

Set Details Taunt in conjunction with Water Absorb lets Jellicent shut down Water-types like Vaporeon, Gastrodon, and Araquanid that rely on status ailments to beat opposing bulky Water-types. Scald + Toxic lets Jellicent spread status as effectively as possible and gives it the best matchup versus opposing bulky Water-types, whereas Will-O-Wisp + Hex lets it threaten Toxicroak as well as walls like Sylveon and Vileplume. Note, however, that each combination struggles with a different group of checks to bulky Water-types. 76 Speed EVs let Jellicent outpace even Jolly Copperajah and Glastrier, both of which can be quite threatening if not burned. A Colbur Berry lets Jellicent serve as a reliable switch-in to Fighting-types like Passimian, Toxicroak, and Gallade, even if they use Knock Off. This also lets Jellicent attempt to status Dark-types like Drapion and Guzzlord once before switching out, making it easier for its partners to manage them. Jellicent is quite proficient at shutting down defensively oriented teams, making it a great partner for Pokemon that need a little help getting past those teams like Choice Scarf Rotom-C and Heliolisk. In return, these Pokemon do quite well into the offensive teams Jellicent struggles against. Jellicent appreciates Vileplume's defensive qualities as both a Grass- and Electric-resistant Pokemon and a sturdy Knock Off switch-in. While very good at spreading status, Jellicent's vulnerability to it from faster Pokemon it cannot use Taunt on such as Toxic Mantine and Arcanine makes clerics like Sylveon and Diancie great partners. In return, Jellicent takes on Steel- and Poison-types.
