Analysis
Thanks to its fantastic Eviolite-boosted bulk, defensive typing, and utility moves, Golbat functions as a great stallbreaker. Toxic, Taunt, and a Toxic immunity allow Golbat to easily shut down common passive walls such as Miltank and Altaria. Super Fang hits Steel-types, which are immune to Toxic, such as Klinklang and Alolan Dugtrio. Brave Bird instead allows Golbat to hit Thwackey and Sawk harder, in addition to being able to KO Poison-types such as Skuntank and Silvally-Poison. The EV spread enables Golbat to outspeed Qwilfish, Cramorant, and Sawk. Golbat is best used on stall and bulky offense teams looking for a Pokemon to help check Fighting- and Grass-types. Stealth Rock setters like Miltank, Rhydon, and Stunfisk all benefit from Golbat's presence to handle these types, with Rhydon and Stunfisk handling Electric-types and Miltank providing Heal Bell support. Late-game cleaners such as Thwackey, Sawk, and Rotom appreciate Super Fang wearing down walls. Steel-types such as Klinklang and Alolan Dugtrio make great partners, covering Golbat's Rock, Psychic, and Ice weaknesses. As Golbat is reliant on Eviolite for its bulk, Pokemon that can take a Knock Off such as Gourgeist-XL and Silvally formes are appreciated. Entry hazard removers such as Articuno, Altaria, and Kabutops compensate for Eviolite barring Golbat from running Heavy-Duty Boots.
