Analysis
Charjabug is the tier's premier Sticky Web setter thanks to its great bulk, solid typing, and access to secondary tools that make it much more than a suicide lead. It has utility moves in Thunder Wave, Lunge, and Skitter Smack, which make it difficult to set up on, while Volt Switch enables Charjabug to generate and conserve momentum. With its natural bulk, Charjabug checks and threatens prominent Grass- and Water-types including Thwackey and Quaxwell. This also means that Charjabug can often set up Sticky Web multiple times in a game. Charjabug operates best on offensive structures, paired with offensive powerhouses that can take advantage of Sticky Web such as Pignite, Girafarig, and Fraxure. It also appreciates Ghost-types like Drakloak, which can block Rapid Spin. Charjabug struggles against opposing Fire-types such as Pignite and Monferno. Fire-resistant Pokemon like Wartortle and Gabite therefore make for great teammates. Finally, Magic Bounce makes Hattrem a huge problem for Charjabug, and RestTalk variants outlast its Bug-type attacks. Charjabug therefore appreciates Dark-types that can switch in on and punish Hattrem such as Krokorok and Scraggy.
