Ivy Cudgel synergizes well with Ogerpon-C's Grass-type moves, hitting Fire- and Flying-types like Tornadus, Incineroar, and Chi-Yu. Horn Leech provides Ogerpon-C with recovery, while Power Whip hits targets harder, threatening an OHKO on Urshifu-R. Follow Me lets it redirect moves away from its teammates like Sucker Punch and Spore from Chien-Pao and Amoonguss, respectively. Tera Rock bolsters Ivy Cudgel's damage, letting it guarantee an OHKO on Entei, and the Defense boost thanks to Embody Aspect can let it almost always survive Close Combat from Choice Scarf Urshifu-R.

Alternatively, Horn Leech can be used to sacrifice power for recovery, allowing Ogerpon-C to reactivate Sturdy, while Wood Hammer is used for a burst of damage, but it breaks Sturdy. Ogerpon-C struggles to damage common Steel-type Pokemon such as Zamazenta-C and Gholdengo, which can set up on it or threaten to bring Ogerpon-C down to Sturdy. Due to its great ability to redirect attacks, Ogerpon-C is commonly seen on hyper offense Tailwind or Trick Room teams supporting Restricted Pokemon like Miraidon and Calyrex-I. Ogerpon-C also adds a fast mode on Trick Room teams and has great damage output while removing problematic foes like Incineroar. Ogerpon-C pairs well with Koraidon, as it can effectively remove Pelipper and Tornadus and prevent them from disrupting Koraidon's weather. Ogerpon-C can also reliably redirect Spore from Amoonguss and threaten Calyrex-I regardless of Terastallization. In return, Koraidon can remove the plethora of opposing Steel-types. Some good partners for Ogerpon-C, aside from Calyrex-I, Miraidon, and Koraidon, are Whimsicott, Tornadus, and Farigiraf. Whimsicott or Tornadus can set Tailwind for Ogerpon-C to outspeed faster Pokemon like Flutter Mane, Choice Scarf Urshifu-R, and Chi-Yu, threatening to OHKO them. Finally, Farigiraf blocks Fake Out, letting Ogerpon-C deal a lot damage; Ogerpon-C can also help Farigiraf set Trick Room thanks to Follow Me support.

Set Details Ogerpon-C serves as an offensive threat with its strong STAB moves while providing redirection support paired with Sturdy, which guarantees Ogerpon-C can take a minimum of two hits, allowing for reliable redirection support in keeping its partners healthy. It also threatens Pokemon such as Chi-Yu, Tornadus, Kyogre, and Ho-Oh. Furthermore, Ogerpon-C mitigates Amoonguss and Brute Bonnet's effectiveness, as it is immune to Spore and can safely redirect Spore while ignoring Rage Powder, allowing it to maintain offensive pressure on their partners. Power Whip is used over Horn Leech, as it is able to achieve OHKOs where Horn Leech would not, with examples including Kyogre and Urshifu-R. Power Whip also deals no recoil damage unlike Wood Hammer, which would break Sturdy. However, Power Whip's main drawback is its lack of accuracy, making it a less consistent attacking option compared to its alternatives. Follow Me's great synergy with Sturdy allows for reliable redirection, which gives Ogerpon-C's partner a safer opportunity to switch in or set up. Terastallization can be a secondary supporting option if Ogerpon-C is not at full health, as removing its Grass Typing and gaining Embody Aspect would make Ogerpon-C able to wall specific foes like Ho-Oh, Tornadus, and Incineroar. Teambuilding Ogerpon-C struggles against opposing Steel-types such as Zamazenta-C and Zacian-C, which can easily threaten Ogerpon-C without taking any meaningful damage in return. Urshifu-R can act as a check to Ogerpon-C, as Choice Scarf variants can easily OHKO it with Tera Water Surging Strikes or break Sturdy with U-turn. Iron Hands counters Ogerpon-C, threatening to break Sturdy with Fake Out and threatening it with a KO afterward with Drain Punch. Ogerpon-C performs well on Calyrex-S and Terapagos teams; it can help Terapagos set up safely with Follow Me while also putting Koraidon in a difficult position, as Koraidon is KOed by Psychic from Calyrex-S if Koraidon doesn't Terastallize into a Fire-type, and it is KOed by Ivy Cudgel from Ogerpon-C if it does. Incineroar has good synergy with Ogerpon-C in supporting their partners, as its slow Parting Shot allows Ogerpon-C to switch in safely without breaking Sturdy, and it also threatens Zacian-C with Flare Biltz. Incineroar is also able to mitigate Iron Hands's effectiveness with Intimidate, Fake Out, and Parting Shot, reliably keeping it in check. Ogerpon-C is a good option on Lunala compositions, since it can provide Follow Me support to let Lunala set up Trick Room and allows for a fast mode without Trick Room on those teams. Miraidon also pairs well with Ogerpon-C, as Follow Me can redirect Ground-type attacks from Landorus and Ursaluna while also threatening them back with Grass-type attacks, allowing Miraidon to have more opportunities to use Electro Drift, which threatens Zamazenta-C and Urshifu-R.

Ogerpon-C is an excellent wallbreaker and setup sweeper for Rock teams, not only because of its neutrality to Ground- and Water-type moves, but also because it is able to outspeed and deal with threats like Great Tusk, Gastrodon, and Mamoswine. Sturdy allows Ogerpon-C to take a hit from and remove faster threats like Barraskewda, as well as Choice Scarf Great Tusk and Choice Scarf Galarian Zapdos after a Swords Dance. Ivy Cudgel deals with threats like Ogerpon-H and Enamorus while also OHKOing Dragonite and Heatran after a Swords Dance. Horn Leech is a good Grass STAB move, being able to hurt Ground- and Water-types like Quagsire and Ting-Lu and OHKO Walking Wake after a boost. Horn Leech's recovery is useful for extending Ogerpon-C's longevity and can let Sturdy be used again if it brings Ogerpon-C back to full HP. Choice Scarf Glimmora, with its colorful moveset, deals with faster threats that outspeed Ogerpon-C like non-Choice-Scarf Greninja, Kommo-o, and Iron Valiant. In return, Ogerpon-C deals with Azumarill and Ursaluna for Glimmora. Air Balloon Glimmora can switch into threatening Ground-type moves while taking on foes like Great Tusk, clear entry hazards with Mortal Spin to make sure Ogerpon-C's Sturdy isn't broken, and sets its own hazards to enable Ogerpon-C's sweep. Tyranitar sets up sand to allow Ogerpon-C to set up easier due to the Special Defense boost, allowing Ogerpon-C to survive a Draco Meteor from Choice Specs Walking Wake. Tyranitar also acts as a specially defensive tank for Ogerpon-C and deals with Flutter Mane, Dragapult, and Spectrier. Ogerpon-C aids Tyranitar by dealing with Landorus-T and non-Choice Scarf Hisuian Samurott. Choice Band Hisuian Arcanine is a strong wallbreaker, using Head Smash and Flare Blitz to break through walls like Gholdengo and Corviknight. Hisuian Arcanine appreciates Ogerpon-C being able to deal with pesky Water- and Ground-types like Belly Drum Azumarill, Landorus, and Sandy Shocks. Coalossal is a decent physical wall that can remove hazards, which prevents Ogerpon-C's Sturdy from breaking, and deals with Weavile, Bisharp, Scizor, and Corviknight. Coalossal also sets up Spikes to enhance Ogerpon-C's wallbreaking. Ogerpon-C takes care of Ursaluna and Manaphy for Coalossal. Iron Defense + Body Press Garganacl can act as a defensive stallbreaker, using Salt Cure to weaken impediments to Ogerpon-C sweeping, like Skeledirge, Dondozo, and Hisuian Goodra. Ogerpon-C shuts down Choice Band Mamoswine, which would otherwise destroy Garganacl. Lead Kleavor is another option that can set Stealth Rock with Stone Axe, potentially breaking a Focus Sash on Ceruledge, Breloom, and Ribombee that can hinder Ogerpon-C's sweeps otherwise. Assault Vest Diancie eases the Fighting and Dragon matchups by being able to take on Iron Valiant and Dragapult. Alolan Golem can trap and eliminate Steel-types such as Corviknight and Scizor for Ogerpon-C. In return Ogerpon-C destroys Ground-types like Quagsire and Mamoswine.

Its Rock typing, coupled with its amazing Speed and offenses, makes it a formidable force, allowing it to nail any Flying- and Fire-type threats to Grass teams such as Galarian Moltres, Ogerpon-H, and Volcarona with the powerful and accurate Ivy Cudgel. Swords Dance can boost Ogerpon-C's Attack further, allowing it to beat Dragonite through Multiscale at +2 as well as brute force through Heatran if Ogerpon-C lacks Fighting-type coverage. Horn Leech is a great STAB move that allows Ogerpon-C to retain Sturdy by virtue of healing; however, Power Whip is another option if Ogerpon-C wants more power, such as to OHKO Iron Treads after a Swords Dance. Sturdy also allows Ogerpon-C to survive the likes of Choice Specs Greninja, Darkrai, and Ceruledge and retaliate with Ivy Cudgel. Trailblaze lets Ogerpon-C boost its Speed and outspeed the likes of Choice Scarf Enamorus as well as Speed tie Choice Scarf Iron Moth. Low Kick is an alternative choice to take care of pesky heavy Steel-types that Ogerpon-C is otherwise useless against, such as Heatran and Hisuian Goodra, but Superpower is an alternative choice that is more reliable against targets that are not heavy, specifically Archaludon. Ogerpon-C appreciates help from its teammates to help beat down its checks and counters. Choice Scarf Meowscarada can take care of any Dragon-types in sight, such as Latios, Dragapult, and Roaring Moon, with its Protean-boosted Play Rough and Triple Axel, as well as remove Leftovers from Corviknight with Knock Off. In return, Ogerpon-C takes out Moltres for Meowscarada. Amoonguss and Hydrapple are great defensive partners, withstanding strong attacks from the likes of Sneasler and Iron Valiant for the former and Heatran and Cinderace for the latter; they can also retaliate with a variety of options and heal the damage off with Regenerator. Amoonguss is able to put Ogerpon-C's checks to sleep, as well as outright beat Iron Valiant with Sludge Bomb; it also comes with the added benefit of being able to remove Toxic Spikes, which allows Ogerpon-C to preserve its Sturdy. In exchange, Ogerpon-C beats Dragonite and Articuno, which trouble Amoonguss and Hydrapple. Hisuian Lilligant and Breloom are more great partners, both being able to boost and beat down Steel-types with powerful STAB Fighting-type moves, alongside having access to sleep and Upper Hand to catch Weavile off guard when it uses Ice Shard. Sinistcha is a great teammate that can be a wincon with Calm Mind after Ogerpon-C has weakened the opposition enough, and it is also able to beat down defensive threats that trouble Ogerpon-C such as Skarmory and Iron Hands. Serperior is another choice that can paralyze faster threats such as Flutter Mane and Iron Valiant with Glare, alongside providing passive healing to Ogerpon-C to maintain Sturdy via Leech Seed and being a threat with Contrary Leaf Storm if it gets going. Abomasnow is another partner that can set up Aurora Veil for Ogerpon-C, which provides it with ease of setup, as well as beat Dragon-types like Latias and non-Choice Specs Dragapult with Ice Shard. Lastly, Brambleghast is a great partner to remove entry hazards and retain Ogerpon-C's Sturdy, as it is unable to hold Heavy-Duty Boots, while blanking Tornadus-T and Zapdos's Hurricanes by virtue of Wind Rider. Brambleghast also has the added benefit of being able to set Spikes, which punishes the switch-ins forced by Ogerpon-C and helps it in knocking foes out.

Ogerpon-C's most prominent feature as a wallbreaker is its unique STAB combination, which, when paired with its complementary coverage, becomes very difficult to resist. Additionally, Ogerpon-C boasts a sufficient Speed tier to outspeed foes like Kyurem and non-Choice Scarf Kartana as well as powerful Cornerstone Mask-boosted attacks, which help it further threaten Flying-types such as Mega Charizard Y and Zapdos, Water-types such as Alomomola and Slowbro, and Ground-types such as Great Tusk and Ting-Lu. Swords Dance is able to take advantage of this, augmenting Ogerpon-C's Attack to astronomical levels that allow it to more easily take on checks such as Landorus-T and Corviknight while scoring a 2KHO on Gholdengo and an OHKO on Gliscor both with Power Whip. Superpower nails pesky Steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Melmetal, while the more niche Knock Off catches Gholdengo by surprise while also generally supporting its team by removing the items off of common switch-ins such as Toxapex and Landorus-T. A valuable ability in Sturdy allows Ogerpon-C to act as an advantageous crutch against dangerous sweepers such as Iron Valiant, especially if they have already set up. Ogerpon-C shines brightest on offensive structures, where it's given as many wallbreaking opportunities as possible. Mega Scizor can support Ogerpon-C with Knock Off and make use of its impressive bulk to stave off revenge killers such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T and Mega Lopunny while also letting Ogerpon-C take care of threatening Fire-types such as Volcarona. Moltres's defensive profile also complements Ogerpon-C, providing pivoting with U-turn and deterring checks such as Iron Valiant and Gholdengo. Additionally, entry hazard removal from the likes of Terapagos, Great Tusk, and Landorus-T or hazard deterrents such as lead Mega Diancie and Iron Treads can help keep Ogerpon-C's Sturdy intact.

With good stats and a part-Grass typing that lets it beat common threats to Rock such as Manaphy, Ursaluna, and Swampert, Ogerpon-C is a potent sweeper for Rock teams. Horn Leech is a STAB move that grants Ogerpon-C longevity, mitigating chip damage to more reliably trigger Sturdy, and it threatens common checks to Rock teams such as Gastrodon, Ting-Lu, and Rotom-W. Knock Off 2HKOes foes such as Sinistcha and Gholdengo while also removing Heavy-Duty Boots to make foes vulnerable to entry hazards. Superpower is an alternative option to hit Steel-types that could otherwise wall Ogerpon-C, and after a Swords Dance, it OHKOes Ferrothorn and, after Stealth Rock, Archaludon as well. Shuckle and Mega Diancie can set entry hazards to let Ogerpon-C more easily apply offensive pressure; the former's Sticky Web allows Ogerpon-C to outspeed foes such as Mega Gallade, Zeraora, and Mega Lopunny. As Ogerpon-C struggles with taking care of Fighting-types such as Kommo-o, Mega Lopunny, and Sneasler, partners like Mega Diancie and Iron Boulder, which can simultaneously take advantage of Shuckle's Sticky Web and offensively check these threats, pair well. Ogerpon-C can struggle with Steel-types as well, so allies that can more easily overwhelm them such as Hisuian Arcanine and Z-Crystal Iron Boulder are also appreciated.

Ogerpon-C is a formidable choice on Grass teams that holds its own over its Rock typing, coupled with it's amazing Attack and Speed, makes it a formidable threat to the Bug-, Fire-, Ice-, and Flying-types that threaten Grass teams such as Volcarona, Mega Charizard Y, Alolan Ninetales, and Tornadus-T with the powerful and accurate Ivy Cudgel. Swords Dance can boost Ogerpon-C's Attack to a threatening level, boosting Ivy Cudgel even more to break through formidable walls such as Corviknight and Celesteela. Horn Leech grants recovery for Ogerpon-C while also regaining Sturdy once it gets back to full. At +2, Superpower breaks through Steel- and Dark-type Pokemon like Archaludon, Heatran, and Hydreigon. Choice Scarf Meowscarada can handle any threatening Dragon-types for Ogerpon-C such as Roaring Moon, MegaAltaria, and Kommo-o with its Protean-boosted Play Rough while also removing Heavy-Duty Boots from Dragonite and Leftovers from Corviknight with Knock Off. Mega Venusaur is a defensive teammate for Ogerpon-C that can take threatening Fire- and Ice-type moves with its ability, Thick Fat, such as Meowscarada's Triple Axel. Ferrothorn is another defensive teammate that can provide entry hazard support and take on physical threats such as Melmetal and Weavile. Sinistcha is a great late-game setup sweeper that can become a wincon alongside Ogerpon-C with access to Calm Mind and Strength Sap. Breloom provides a form of priority with Technician-boosted Mach Punch and can put foes to sleep with Spore.

Ogerpon-C is a great Sturdy Pokemon, being much faster and having access to set-up moves compared to Archaludon, though using both together is certainly possible. Horn Leech: While it has stronger Grass-type STAB moves, Horn Leech's recovery can bring Ogerpon-C back to full health while taking advantage of Sturdy. Knock Off: This is Ogerpon-C's best option against Gholdengo. Swords Dance and Encore: Swords Dance gives Ogerpon-C more use in late-game situations, with Sturdy making Swords Dance easy to use provided hazards have not been set up. Encore: Encore greatly punishes support moves, especially Stealth Rock users since Ogerpon-C in team preview may make setting up hazards a priority for your opponent. Quick Attack: While weak, Quick Attack gives Ogerpon-C the edge against Focus Sash foes with priority such as Urshifu-R and speedy Focus Sash users like Iron Bundle. Rock Tomb: Dropping a foe's Speed with Rock Tomb can be a useful and unexpected way to revenge kill them after Ogerpon-C is KOed and prevents Terastallized Dragon Dance foes like Dragonite and Baxcalibur from setting up easily. Alternate EV Spreads 252 HP / 124 Atk / 68 Def / 4 SpD / 60 Spe with Adamant: This bulkier spread allows Ogerpon-C to survive Jolly Punching Glove Urshifu-R's Tera Water Surging Strikes and outspeeds Iron Bundle after Rock Tomb's Speed drop. It also naturally outspeeds Jolly Breloom, Modest Archaludon, and Modest Gholdengo, while also outspeeding Timid Iron Bundle after a Speed drop from Rock Tomb. Other Options Trailblaze: Ogerpon-C is not nearly as effective at sweeping with Trailblaze as Ogerpon-H, but it's still a potential win condition that can work well with Sturdy due to ease of setup. Leech Seed: While Rock is not a good defensive typing, both Sturdy and Embody Aspect can make good use of Leech Seed's recovery. Spikes: Sadly Ogerpon-C doesn't learn Stealth Rock, so this is the best alternative. While Spikes aren't bad, their failure to hit important floating Pokemon like Dragonite and Landorus-T means they aren't a perfect replacement for Stealth Rock. Embody Aspect Ogerpon-C is locked into a Rock Tera type, with the bonus of getting a Defense boost via Embody Aspect. While the Defense boost can be useful, note that Ogerpon-C loses Sturdy, which ironically can make it easier to OHKO! If needing the Defense boost, it's usually best to do this if Ogerpon-C is not at full health or needs a boosted Ivy Cudgel to KO a threat.
