Analyse

Set Details Meloetta's STAB moves are quite spammable against defensive staples like Amoonguss, Gastrodon, and Swampert. Psyshock is an alternative to Psychic, allowing Meloetta to nail specially bulky Pokemon like Porygon2, Goodra, Gastrodon, and Sylveon as well as special sweepers like Oricorio-F and Raikou, but Psychic's better damage against Pokemon like Diancie and Paldean Tauros-W makes it preferred. Hyper Voice's ability to go through Substitute is helpful against users like Raikou, Nasty Plot Uxie, and Goodra. Shadow Ball covers Bronzong and hits Scream Tail, Oricorio-P, and Basculegion super effectively. In addition, Shadow Ball has a neat synergy with Serene Grace, improving Meloetta's odds to overwhelm Bronzong and Scream Tail. Focus Blast hits other Steel-types like Alolan Sandslash, Duraludon, and Copperajah super effectively, and it's useful coverage against Dark-types like Incineroar and Scrafty. U-turn lets Meloetta keep up momentum for its team against switch-ins like Klefki, Copperajah, and Bronzong. Meloetta can use Trick to disrupt its defensive switch-ins, as a Choice item is especially devastating to walls like Copperajah and Porygon2. However, Meloetta can drop Trick for U-turn so it can fit a coverage move while still acting as an offensive pivot. Tera Fighting grants Meloetta key resistances to moves like Knock Off and Sucker Punch against foes like Alolan Muk and Toxicroak, and the coverage it provides in conjunction with Tera Blast enables Meloetta to break through Copperajah, Porygon2, and Alolan Sandslash. Tera Fairy shares Tera Fighting's nice resistances against Dark- and Bug-type moves, and it grants Meloetta better defensive matchups against Fighting-types like Scrafty and Heracross when it's in a pinch. Tera Ghost powers up Shadow Ball to nail Bronzong and Scream Tail, and the Fighting immunity it offers is helpful against Body Press users like the aforementioned Bronzong and Diancie. Meloetta appreciates checks to troublesome Steel-types like Copperajah and Bronzong, so wallbreakers such as Paldean Tauros-W, Paldean Tauros-F, and Basculegion make good teammates. Fighting-types like Scrafty and Toxicroak compensate for Meloetta's difficult matchups against bulky Dark-types like Incineroar and Alolan Muk. Offensive pivots like Flygon, Flamigo, and Kilowattrel can get Meloetta into good positions by bringing it in against defensive Pokemon like Breloom, Amoonguss, and Galarian Slowbro, which is greatly appreciated by Choice Specs variants. Slow, defensive pivots like Vaporeon, Swampert, and Incineroar can go a step further by tanking hits for Meloetta as they switch it in. Entry hazard removers like Cinccino and Altaria help keep Meloetta from being worn down as it pivots on and off the field. Meloetta itself appreciates hazards from setters like Copperajah, Diancie, and Gastrodon for wearing down checks like Alolan Muk, Klefki, and opposing Diancie. Physically defensive Pokemon like Amoonguss, Galarian Slowbro, and Sylveon can switch into physically offensive revenge killers such as Flygon, Paldean Tauros-W, and Scyther to let Meloetta switch out.

Analyse

Hyper Voice activates Throat Spray, giving Meloetta an immediate Special Attack boost without locking it into a move allowing it to function as a mid-game wallbreaker or cleaner with more flexibility than Choice-locked sets. Psyshock is generally preferred to pressure specially bulky Pokemon such as Chansey, Sylveon, and Goodra, though Psychic provides stronger immediate damage against targets like Paldean Tauros-W. Shadow Ball provides coverage against Pokemon like Bronzong, Chandelure, and Basculegion while also hitting Psychic-types like Munkidori and Hoopa. Focus Blast is needed to threaten Steel- and Dark-types such as Copperajah, Duraludon, Incineroar, and Scrafty. Tera Fighting further boosts Focus Blast to break through these foes more reliably while also granting useful resistances to Knock Off from Incineroar, U-turn from Flygon, and Sucker Punch from Toxicroak. Tera Ghost strengthens Shadow Ball, allowing +1 Meloetta to 2HKO Duraludon after Stealth Rock and OHKO targets such as Uxie and Munkidori while also providing a useful Fighting immunity. Despite the immediate boost, Meloetta struggles against dedicated defensive cores, as walls and Dark-types like Tera Dark Chansey and Wo-Chien can reliably pivot into its attacks, so it fits best on offensive teams that can weaken these checks beforehand. Wallbreakers such as Paldean Tauros-F, Flamigo, and Toxicroak help pressure Steel-types and prevent them from comfortably switching in, while Paldean Tauros-W and Swampert wear down Incineroar and Scrafty directly over time; they are repeatedly drawn in by partners like Munkidori, Raikou, and Flygon, which chip them on the switch or pivot out. Heracross is particularly valuable, as it can absorb Knock Off and break through Meloetta's checks. Dedicated hyper offense leads such as Dudunsparce and Infernape provide strong early-game momentum, as Dudunsparce spreads paralysis with Glare, letting Meloetta outspeed common switch-ins, and both can set Stealth Rock. Infernape also removes items like Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers with Knock Off. This ensures entry hazard damage consistently sticks, keeping targets in range for Meloetta, with softer checks like Goodra and Sylveon worn down by repeated switch-ins. Additionally, Infernape pressures the Dark- and Steel-types directly with its STAB attacks that would otherwise threaten Meloetta. On offense, Throat Spray Meloetta can be somewhat inconsistent, so entry hazard support from Klefki and Gligar helps wear down opposing switch-ins such as Brambleghast, Wo-Chien, and Tsareena and brings them into range of Meloetta’s boosted attacks. Pivots like Flygon and Uxie bring Meloetta in safely against passive targets such as Amoonguss, Galarian Slowbro, and Vaporeon, giving it an opportunity to activate Throat Spray.
