Moves Stealth Rock is the basic utility Druddigon needs to wear down opposing Pokemon that come in, and it wears down Ice-types effectively, which Druddigon has a weakness to. Mold Breaker also allows Druddigon to set it up against Xatu, which makes up much of its niche. Toxic is run to wear down Pokemon and rack up more damage over time, which helps in the long run against Pokemon such as Piloswine, Comfey, and Xatu. Glare is able to incapacitate fast Pokemon such as Sneasel and Sceptile and Choice Scarf users such as Delphox and Passimian without fail. Earthquake is mainly for Steel-types such as Silvally-Steel, allowing Druddigon to punish its Defog, and Electric-types, which cannot be paralyzed by Glare. Earthquake is also useful due to Mold Breaker allowing it to hit Rotom and Vikavolt and its ability to weaken most Stealth Rock setters such as Rhydon and Steelix. Protect with Leftovers makes Druddigon a much more sustainable Pokemon, allowing to get recovery it may need in the long run. It also allows Druddigon to scout Choice item users, such as Passimian and Heliolisk. Dragon Tail is used to phaze other Pokemon to rack up damage with Stealth Rock. This move also forces out potential setup Pokemon such as Nasty Plot Slowking and Swords Dance Incineroar, which makes Druddigon less passive then other entry hazard setters. It can also run Taunt over Glare to prevent opposing Stealth Rock from being set up by Pokemon such as Steelix or setup from slower Pokemon like Slowking, but this doesn't end up always being reliable due to Druddigon's lack of Speed. Set Details Maximum HP and Special Defense EVs with a Careful nature let Druddigon check Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Magmortar effectively. Alternatively, Maximum HP and Defense EVs with an Impish nature allow Druddigon to maximize its physical bulk to better take on physical attackers such as Passimian, Incineroar, and Cinccino. Leftovers gives Druddigon the longevity it needs, since it doesn't have reliable recovery, giving several opportunities to switch into Pokemon such as Delphox, Magmortar, and Sceptile. Rocky Helmet is able to rack up chip damage onto Pokemon like Incineroar, Passimian, and potential spinners. Mold Breaker is to ensure that Druddigon can set up Stealth Rock against Xatu and potentially cripple it. Usage Tips Druddigon should be used early-game to set up Stealth Rock as its primary goal. Stealth Rock can always be set up quickly unless a Taunt user is on the field, as Druddigon is unbothered by Xatu's Magic Bounce. It's in your best interest to start spreading status to fast, frail Pokemon, such as Comfey and Sceptile, after getting the chance of getting Stealth Rock up to get any necessary chip needed for future turns. It is also used to check Pokemon it answers by virtue of its defensive typing and special attackers such as Slowking, Delphox, and defensive Incineroar, and it can take advantage of these Pokemon to set up Stealth Rock. Dragon Tail prevents setup from threats such as Swords Dance Incineroar, Calm Mind Delphox, and Swords Dance Decidueye while also being able to get important chip damage on them. This can also be used to get chip damage on wallbreakers such as Alolan Exeggutor switching in on a predicted Stealth Rock. Taunt gives Druddigon the option to shut down other slower Stealth Rock such as Steelix or Palossand, while also being able to get up its own Stealth Rock and potentially crippling it with status. Druddigon can also pressure entry hazard removers such as Silvally-Steel and Rotom and even cripple them with Glare or Toxic. It can also pressure spinners with chip damage from Rocky Helmet and status and really force the opponent to think twice before using Rapid Spin. Scald burns can basically render Druddigon useless, so it's important to be wary of that. Team Options Generally, you want to have something to cover Druddigon's weaknesses. Fire-types like Incineroar, Delphox, and Magmortar cover all of Druddigon's relevant weaknesses, and in return Druddigon even covers their weakness to Water-type moves. Another option would be pairing Druddigon with a cleric such as Vaporeon, with the two of them covering each other's weaknesses, or Mega Audino, which is a much bulkier Pokemon with Regenerator before it Mega Evolves, and both of these Pokemon also have access to Heal Bell, which gets rid of being weakened by status and getting worn down so easily. Adding a Spikes setter such as Garbodor or Accelgor can be another option, since Xatu easily gets worn down by Druddigon, and Spikes also synergize with Dragon Tail well. You can also pair Druddigon with a slow wallbreaker, since it is able to cripple faster Pokemon with Glare, with Pokemon such as Dhelmise, Guzzlord, and even Clawitzer having a nice pairing with this Pokemon. Silvally-Steel has great synergy with Druddigon, as they both cover each other's weaknesses while Silvally-Steel also has a pivot option to get Druddigon back in. Reliable Fairy-type checks such as Garbodor and Golbat are nice options, as they serve as a safe switch-in most of the time. Setup sweepers and breakers such as Mismagius, Sceptile, and Delphox also appreciate Stealth Rock always being on the field, weakening foes like Incineroar and Vaporeon, as well as other defensive answers to breakers.

Moves Mold Breaker Stealth Rock bypasses Xatu's Magic Bounce. Glare generally cripples most Pokemon and can slow down and potentially trip up faster entry hazard removers such as Golbat, Blastoise, and Whimsicott with full paralysis. Set Details Maximum Attack investment with an Adamant nature maximizes power, allowing Devastating Drake to OHKO neutral targets like Assault Vest Slowking, Dhelmise, Vikavolt, and specially defensive Garbodor. Maximum Speed EVs let Druddigon Speed tie with opposing offensive Druddigon while outrunning the likes of Alolan Exeggutor, Weezing, bulky Garbodor, and Rhydon. Mold Breaker allows Druddigon to set up Stealth Rock against Xatu and lets Earthquake hit Levitate users. Usage Tips Druddigon is a powerful Stealth Rock user that is also difficult to OHKO, providing a strong immediate offensive advantage. Use Devastating Drake to OHKO bulky Pokemon such as Slowking, Dhelmise, and Vikavolt or heavily dent the likes of Vaporeon, Blastoise, Scrafty, and Golbat. It could also just be used to wipe out nearly any opposing offensive Pokemon, as very few can hope to survive this attack. Taunt and Glare are primarily used in situations involving entry hazards, preventing opposing Stealth Rock from being set up or your own Stealth Rock from being cleared, though they can be used for other purposes, such as crippling walls or offensive Pokemon. Longevity is less of a priority; Druddigon should focus on setting up Stealth Rock and then wallbreaking or crippling as much as it can, though it can occasionally put its bulk and resistances to use by checking certain Pokemon and threatening them with Devastating Drake, a super effective Earthquake, or Glare. Team Options Dragonium Z Druddigon makes for a natural fit on offensive teams due to the powerful offensive momentum it generates while also offering decent bulk to fall back on if need be. Partners that can check or revenge kill Pokemon that threaten Druddigon are particularly appealing teammates. Incineroar can check Sneasel, Mega Glalie, and Comfey, while its Dark typing allows it to prevent Defog from Whimsicott. However, keep in mind Incineroar would not have access to a Z-Move to aid its wallbreaking. Sigilyph, Vivillon, and Comfey can take out powerful Fighting-types such as Medicham and Pangoro, which are some of the few Pokemon able to OHKO Druddigon with a neutral hit. Ghost-types such as Rotom and Mismagius can spinblock to preserve Druddigon's Stealth Rock while also being able to handle Golbat, Blastoise, and Dhelmise. Druddigon is unlikely to beat bulkier Stealth Rock setters such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Regirock one-on-one, though it could Taunt them to give them less leeway. Pokemon that can take out those Stealth Rock users, such as Sceptile, Samurott, Pangoro, Alolan Exeggutor, and Dhelmise, can help to pick up the slack. Slower wallbreakers such as Incineroar, Pangoro, Medicham, and Samurott appreciate Glare support, whereas offensive Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Choice Scarf Passimian, Sceptile, and Mega Glalie can take advantage of Druddigon's wallbreaking capabilities opening up sweeping opportunities for them.

Moves Glare is the best status move Druddigon receives, paralyzing opposing Pokemon to cut their Speed and allowing Druddigon and other teammates to have a better chance against them during the battle. It also has the perk of paralyzing Ground-types. Stealth Rock allows Druddigon to cripple the opposing team's Pokemon by making them take chip damage and breaking potential Focus Sashes and Sturdy. Dragon Tail is Druddigon's main STAB move, which inflicts decent damage and phazes the foe, potentially racking up good damage if coupled with entry hazards. Alternatively, if Dragon Tail's low damage and negative priority annoy you, Dragon Claw can be used. Fire Punch is used to hit Steel-types that would otherwise tank Dragon Tail such as Escavalier and Registeel. Set Details Maximum HP and Defense with an Impish nature allows Druddigon to tank physical hits rather well and spread chip damage via Rough Skin more effectively. Maximum Defense notably avoids an OHKO from Hitmonlee, Medicham, and +2 Fletchinder after Stealth Rock damage. Alternatively, you can use a specially defensive spread of 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD, which allows Druddigon to take special attacks better and take advantage of its Fire and Electric resistances against Pokemon like Delphox and Jolteon. Rocky Helmet is useful to get more chip damage against physical attackers when coupled with Rough Skin. Leftovers gives Druddigon passive recovery and can work better with a specially defensive spread. Rough Skin is the choice of ability to allow Druddigon to get off some useful chip damage thanks to its defensive EV spread. Usage Tips Use Druddigon as a lead to get Stealth Rock up early; if against a threatening Pokemon, you may have to switch multiple times to get it up. Also be cautious when leading, as the opponent may predict you and possibly force a switch out. Always switch out if Druddigon is in KO range against Fairy- or Ice-type Pokemon. Spread paralysis to slow down the opposing Pokemon while also phazing them out with Dragon Tail. Keep Druddigon healthy to have a good switch-in to physical attackers, primarily to resisted attacks. Don't play recklessly with this set, but identity certain Pokemon that may be threatening and use that knowledge to your advantage with Glare. Druddigon should be preserved until the opposing entry hazard remover has been taken care of, so it can freely set up Stealth Rock. Team Options Spikes support is always useful to further cripple the opponent's team and can be effective with Dragon Tail, so Pokemon such as Mega Glalie, Qwilfish, Accelgor, and Garbodor are always recommended. This set is very helpful on bulky offensive and balanced teams, as these teams carry slow powerhouses and the support from paralysis is very useful for them. Wish and cleric support is always useful to help out with Druddigon's lack of recovery and remove status; Alomomola, Diancie, and Aromatisse are good options. Hard-hitting Pokemon are recommended to take advantage of the paralysis Druddigon spreads over the opposing team; Pokemon such as Hoopa, Hitmonlee, Escavalier, and Rhyperior are good examples. Pokemon that can handle Fairy-types are very useful to prevent them from threatening Druddigon; some examples are Venusaur, Magneton, and Escavalier. Hoopa is a great spinblocker, preventing Pokemon such as Blastoise and Hitmontop from removing your entry hazards.

Moves Outrage or Dragon Claw is Druddigon's main STAB move; Outrage is used for more power but unfortunately comes with a confusion effect, and the lock-in can make Druddigon easier to handle for the opponent, while Dragon Claw has no drawbacks but is much weaker. Sucker Punch is used for priority and can help revenge kill fast, weakened Pokemon as well as hit Psychic-types like Delphox and Hoopa super effectively. Fire Punch is used as coverage against Steel-types that can wall Druddigon like Registeel and Escavalier. Gunk Shot is used for coverage against Fairy-types like Aromatisse and Granbull; it can also hit Grass-type Pokemon like Virizion harder. You can use Iron Tail instead, which still handles Fairy-types, notably OHKOing Diancie, but can also 2HKO Rhyperior. Set Details 252 Attack EVs with an Adamant nature maximize Druddigon's Attack stat and allow it to hit as hard as possible. 32 Speed EVs are used to outspeed base 50 Speed Pokemon like Registeel and Diancie as well as maximum Speed Mega Camerupt. The rest of the EVs are dumped in HP to give Druddigon some bulk. Life Orb is used to boost Druddigon's already hard-hitting attacks, and Druddigon doesn't incur any recoil on its coverage moves thanks to Sheer Force. Sheer Force is used to give Druddigon's attacks some more power at the cost of their side effects. Usage Tips Thanks to the power boosts from Sheer Force and Life Orb, Druddigon should be used as a wallbreaker that can scare the opponent and limit their choice of plays. Use certain situations to your advantage to allow Druddigon to come into the battlefield; some of those are Choice-locked Pokemon, safe switches into certain Pokemon like Blastoise, and aggressive double switches if you have to. Use Sucker Punch against weakened Pokemon to potentially OHKO them and against faster Pokemon to get off some damage. Druddigon should avoid Ice-type Pokemon, as the most used ones are able to OHKO or significantly damage it. Do not lock Druddigon into Outrage early-game, as it can be easily revenge killed. Druddigon should be very cautious against Scald users such as Slowking and Seismitoad, as a potential burn severely cuts Druddigon's Attack stat, though it may be fine if they are in KO range. Thanks to Druddigon's bulk, it is able to tank a Fairy-type attack from defensive Fairy-type Pokemon and can strike back with a Gunk Shot or Iron Tail. Team Options Druddigon is best paired up with Escavalier, which resists all of its weaknesses in Ice, Dragon, and Fairy, while Druddigon resists Escavalier's lone weakness to Fire. Escavalier can handle Fairy-types and use Knock Off to cripple bulky walls such as Alomomola, Jellicent, and Eviolite users, which allows Druddigon to threaten them; this creates good defensive and offensive synergy between these two. Wish users such as Alomomola and Aromatisse are great for supporting Druddigon due to its lack of recovery. Great Trick Room users such as Diancie and Slowking can allow Druddigon to outspeed and pressure most faster Pokemon. Entry hazard removers such as Blastoise and Flygon can allow Druddigon to safely switch in without having to take damage. Blastoise can lure in Grass- and Electric-types, which can allow Druddigon to come in and deal with them. Volt Switch and U-turn users are good for allowing Druddigon to come in safely and possibly check or counter the opposing foe. Sweepers really appreciate Druddigon's wallbreaking potential for weakening bulkier Pokemon that would otherwise be troublesome, so Virizion, Sneasel, Aerodactyl, and Jolteon are good partners. Flygon can make a great double Dragon core, as Flygon can keep up momentum with U-turn and send Druddigon onto the battle field, while Druddigon can take care of Fairy- and Grass-types.

By utilizing its Sheer Force ability in conjunction with Life Orb, Druddigon is capable of luring in and KOing several of its usual checks and counters. Outrage remains as powerful as ever, dealing massive damage to all those that don't resist it. Dragon Claw can be utilized over this, as while the drop in power is very noticeable, it allows Druddigon more leniency in taking advantage of its STAB earlier in a match, as well as functioning better in conjunction with Substitute. Flamethrower is what makes this set tick, allowing it to safely and cleanly break through Pokemon such as Steelix, Tangrowth, and Escavalier, 2HKOing the former two and OHKOing the latter after Stealth Rock damage. Earthquake, while seemingly providing redundant coverage, is invaluable for hitting an assortment of Pokemon hard without resorting to locking Druddigon into Outrage, including but not limited to Aggron, Kabutops, and Omastar. Sucker Punch offers Druddigon a useful priority move to pick off faster threats such as Galvantula and Sceptile, among others. On the other hand, Substitute capitalizes on the switches Druddigon forces and the surprise value of the set, allowing it to safely hide behind a Substitute while also taking out Pokemon such as Steelix and Tangrowth effectively. The EV spread allows Druddigon to maintain bulk and high Attack, with 20 Special Attack EVs ensuring that Flamethrower OHKOes 248 HP / 8 SpD Escavalier after Stealth Rock damage and the Speed investment allowing it to outpace minimum Speed Tangrowth, allowing it to effectively 2HKO it with Flamethrower. Alternatively, a spread of 152 HP / 252 Atk / 20 SpA / 84 Spe with a Brave nature can be used to similar effect, making Druddigon more generally bulky and allowing it to take on Pokemon such as Entei better as opposed to favoring Druddigon's ability to take specially oriented hits. While being relatively slow, Druddigon can still outpace Pokemon such as Poliwrath, Clefable, and Lanturn should it be deemed necessary, though doing so would encourage the use of a Lonely nature as opposed to a Brave one. Alternative move options include Crunch, which allows Druddigon to cleanly 2HKO Uxie and hit other such Psychic-types hard, and Thunder Punch, which allows it to hit Water-types such as Slowking and Poliwrath hard without locking into Outrage, both of which receive the boost provided by Sheer Force. Pokemon that appreciate the removal of dedicated physical walls such as Steelix and Tangrowth really appreciate the support of mixed Druddigon. Escavalier, Aerodactyl, and Kabutops all are reasonable examples of this, with the latter also providing Rapid Spin support to allow Druddigon to switch in more often. Paralysis support is nice if available, as it allows Druddigon to avoid relying on Sucker Punch or Substitute to leave an impact on offensively oriented teams. Lanturn, Ferroseed, and Slowking are all capable of slowing down the opposing team for Druddigon and provide good defensive synergy with it as well. Considering Druddigon is often presented with opportunities to switch in, a Rapid Spin user such as Kabutops or Cryogonal can be useful for reducing the rate at which Druddigon can be worn down from doing so.

Due to its plethora of useful resistances and respectable bulk, Druddigon makes for a very effective status platform and phazer. Glare offers a reasonably accurate paralysis move that affects nearly all of the tier, making it easy for Druddigon to cripple opposing Pokemon. Dragon Tail offers Druddigon a moderately powerful STAB move that doubles as a phazing move, allowing it to spread around paralysis and residual damage from entry hazards effectively. Druddigon, finding quite a few opportunities to set up Stealth Rock, makes for a very versatile user of the move. Earthquake allows Druddigon to hit Steel-types that resist Dragon Tail hard, preventing Pokemon such as Klinklang from setting up on it. Having access to a neutral priority attack is also useful, as Druddigon is capable of outpacing most of the unboosted tier should they be paralyzed, and can thusly KO Pokemon before they can attack back. On the other hand, considering how easily Druddigon is worn down, RestTalk can be used to effectively prolong its life. Druddigon's EV spread seeks to maximize special bulk in order to capitalize on its specially based resistances. However, an alternative spread of 252 HP / 124 Def / 132 SpD can be used to better take on certain Pokemon like Choice Band Entei, which this spread is able to consistently survive two Choice Band Flare Blitzes from, though deviating heavily from investment in Special Defense hurts Druddigon's ability to check Pokemon such as Sceptile. Fire Punch can be used over Earthquake for the ability to hit Ferroseed, Durant, and Escavalier hard, while also hitting Grass-types at neutral priority. Roar is an interesting option for helping Druddigon phaze around Substitute users more efficiently and can also be used alongside Dragon Claw instead of Dragon Tail and a coverage move to allow for a neutral priority STAB move to work with. Sucker Punch is available, and priority is never a bad thing to have, though without investment in Attack it is somewhat weak, which should be taken into account. Substitute is a feasible option for Druddigon that can ensure it can safely paralyze Pokemon in most situations where it might otherwise be threatened out, such as match-ups with hard-hitting Ice-types, while also making it less vulnerable to Trick. The most effective partners to this set are slow heavy hitters that can take advantage of the widespread paralysis support Druddigon provides. Examples of this include Aggron, Escavalier, and Bouffalant. As Druddigon spends about half its time phazing Pokemon around, entry hazard support is appreciated for capitalizing on this. Ferroseed and Qwilfish both are strong Spikes users and defensive partners for Druddigon. Wish and Heal Bell support are both appreciated, as Druddigon is quite vulnerable to being worn down over time, a trait exemplified by its occasional resorting to RestTalk. Clefable and Flareon are both respectable examples of users of these moves. As with most of Druddigon's sets, it appreciates Rapid Spin support from Pokemon such as Cryogonal.

Druddigon's solid Attack stat, Dragon STAB, and numerous opportunities to switch in lend itself to being a potent Choice Band user. Outrage is Druddigon's primary STAB move and hits everything barring Steel-types for an impressive amount of damage. Superpower and Earthquake both offer Druddigon coverage options for combating Steel-types, with both providing their own benefits. Superpower allows Druddigon to hit Ferroseed hard, while also punishing incoming Normal-types, whereas Earthquake, while not offering any particular coverage against Steel-types that Superpower lacks, allows Druddigon to hit Fire-types it innately checks hard without having to lock itself into Outrage. Earthquake's lack of stat drops is also important, as it allows it to better handle Pokemon such as Steelix, which can otherwise 2HKO with Earthquake when taking into account Defense drops. Sucker Punch allows Druddigon to mitigate its poor Speed stat, picking off weakened or frail Pokemon that would otherwise threaten it. However, being Choice-locked into Sucker Punch is dangerous, so it should be used only in instances of absolute necessity. That said, Fire Punch offers Druddigon a feasible alternative, allowing it to hit Pokemon such as Escavalier, Durant, and Ferroseed hard. Dragon Claw grants Druddigon a "safe" Dragon STAB, allowing it to fire off Dragon-type attacks mid-game without giving Steel-types more than one free turn to work with or becoming too vulnerable to being taken out by a strong Ice- or Dragon-type attack. The EV spread seeks to maximize offensive presence and bulk, with 20 Speed EVs allowing Druddigon to outpace Tangrowth and hit it again before being put to sleep, ensuring it can be 2HKOed with Outrage after Stealth Rock damage. Druddigon can also bump up its Speed to outpace Pokemon such as Lanturn before they can attempt to burn it with Scald, though taking away from bulk does somewhat hurt Druddigon's ability to pivot into attacks. In a similar vein, Druddigon performs admirably in Trick Room, with its lower base Speed turned to a boon, and is one of the tier's most dangerous Trick Room sweepers. Should it be used as such, a spread of 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD with a Brave nature should be used to "maximize" its Speed. Thunder Punch is a decent option, allowing Druddigon to hit bulky Water-types such as Slowking and Poliwrath without locking itself into Outrage. As Choice Band Druddigon generally faces very few Pokemon that can readily take on multiple attacks from it, other hard-hitting physical attackers are excellent partners for overloading physical walls and sweeping. Pokemon such as Rock Polish Rhydon and Durant make solid examples of this, being able to pressure Steel-types that can check Druddigon and in turn spring-boarding off Druddigon's attacks. Strong Fighting- and Fire-types are also cool partners to Druddigon, as their ability to steamroll through Steel-types makes Druddigon's STAB attacks that much more effectual. Examples of these are Gallade, Entei, and Moltres. As Druddigon's typing lends itself to switching in on a plethora of attacks, it will find itself being worn down by hazard damage rather quickly. Rapid Spin users such as Cryogonal and Kabutops mitigate this issue, as well as offering a reasonable Ice-type resistance.

Druddigon's respectable blend of bulk, typing, and Attack allow it to serve as an excellent offensive Stealth Rock user throughout the match. Outrage provides a powerful STAB attack capable of dealing large damage to anything that does not resist it. Lastly, Sucker Punch offers Druddigon a moderately powerful priority attack that allows it to mitigate its poor Speed stat and pick off weakened Pokemon. The given EV spread seeks to maximize offensive presence and bulk, with 20 Speed EVs allowing Druddigon to outpace Tangrowth and hit it again before being put to sleep. If need be, Druddigon can invest more heavily in Speed to outpace Pokemon such as Clefable and Lanturn, though the loss in bulk resulting from this is evident when faced with powerful attackers such as Sceptile and Rotom. Superpower and Fire Punch both offer Druddigon alternative coverage moves capable of hitting Steel-types, with the former being capable of punishing bulky Normal-types as well and the latter hitting Pokemon such as Escavalier and Durant that enjoy switching into Druddigon's STAB attacks as well as hitting Ice-types such as Cryogonal consistently without locking into Outrage. As contradictory as it sounds, if one's team can afford an alternative Stealth Rock user, Leftovers Druddigon in its own right is quite viable and threatening, taking advantage of the free moveslot to utilize another attacking option such as Dragon Claw, a secondary coverage move, Glare for crippling faster attackers, or even Substitute to minimize prediction. Generally speaking, powerful offensive Pokemon such as Durant are useful teammates for Druddigon for their ability to wear down dedicated physical walls such as Poliwrath and Steelix so it can more effectively break through them. Spikes support is appreciated for Druddigon considering most of its checks and counters are grounded. Ferroseed and Qwilfish are useful for this purpose, setting up hazards against a respectable amount of common switch-ins to Druddigon. Powerful Fighting- and Ground-types offer a more direct way of pressuring Steel-types that trouble Druddigon. Moltres and Gallade can both pressure Steel-types rather well, with Druddigon in turn helping to barrel through some of their prospective checks with its STAB attacks.
