Analyse

Set Description Despite its limited coverage, Iron Head is important to threaten Fairy-types, particularly Diancie, and cover certain neutral targets such as Vileplume and Weezing. Shadow Sneak primarily hits faster Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Decidueye, Golurk, and Starmie, OHKOing all of them at +2 with Stealth Rock support, as well as weakened, frail Pokemon like Salazzle. Close Combat is a powerful weapon against Copperajah, Stakataka, and Snorlax and lets Doublade strike back against faster Dark-types like Guzzlord and Scrafty. The listed EVs allow Doublade to outspeed Dhelmise and defensive Copperajah. As chip damage is so detrimental to Doublade's walling ability, it needs to be paired with a Wish user such as Vaporeon or Sylveon. Vaporeon can also take on many of the Fire-, Water-, and Ground-types that trouble Doublade, while Sylveon can check Dark-types for it. Itemless Vileplume is a strong partner, absorbing Knock Off and Poltergeist and nailing Xatu with Sludge Bomb so Doublade can come in freely on a forced Roost. Weezing forms a potent physically defensive core with Doublade, handling Ground-types while also switching into Knock Off from foes like Tsareena and Toxicroak. As Doublade cannot reliably use its set of resistances against special attackers, Diancie, Guzzlord, and Snorlax are excellent teammates, checking Pokemon like Exploud, Heliolisk, and Salazzle, respectively. Doublade appreciates a partner that can deal with faster Pokemon unbothered by Shadow Sneak, such as Heliolisk, Exploud, and Tsareena; Passimian is a good candidate and also brings Doublade in with U-turn.
